Witness Testimony

The witness submitted the following testimony: 

“My friends and I were walking across campus to get food when one of my friends spotted a triangular object in the sky. I only saw the triangular object for about 15 seconds so I was not able to snap a picture, but I attached a sketch of what the object looked like. The triangle was black, with a white light on each end of the point. I was able to notice some faint lines on the object due to the brightness of the lights on it.”

During this investigation is was a bit difficult to conclude, I was unable to communicate with the witness at all. After multiple attempts at email and phone I was advised to complete this case as is.

The witness was very good about describing what he saw that night, to the extent of even being able to drawing a picture of it.

The witness was also able to submit a report to NUFORC (National UFO Reporting Center) where he posted this:

“Triangle UFO seen above Rochester, NY.

On February 21st, 2018, at around 8:30pm-ish, my two friends and I witnessed a triangular shaped UFO near St. John Fisher College. The object was a large black triangle, with a bright light on each end of the object. The object also had grey lines on the bottom, which were visible as a result to the light. 

My friend pointed it out to us and thought it was a drone. The more we looked at the object, we realized that it was not a drone, it had to be something else. We were only able to look at the object for about 15 secs because it vanished out of no where”

As I was searching for further reports of this incident I was not able to find any, however since the duration of the object being seen was so short it could be it was just traveling too fast or it very well could have been a drone.

Conclusion

With limited communication with witness and only a drawing to go by this case is complicated to place. What does help is that the witness was able to place a report with NUFORC which shows in my opinion commitment to the sighting and genuine concern about what he witnessed that night.

For me the sighting of a triangular UFO is very common, it’s something that has always been seen since the Phoenix Lights (https://www.theblackvault.com/documentarchive/the-phoenix-lights-incident-march-13th-1997/) or possibly even before that!

The truth is that reports of unexplained triangles in the sky are still happening all over the world and maybe you are reading this and thinking that what you saw maybe was real and unexplained, maybe there was something in the sky that night in Rochester, New York. I sure hope that this case helps others come forward with their sightings.

Ultimately I was not able to communicate with the witness to the extent I should in order to fully classify this as Unknown or a true UFO sighting. Thus this case will remain Unresolved for lack of evidence and lack of communication.

“I went to my patio door to let my cat in when I looked up to the west and saw what I first thought was a satellite, or a large bright star. As I watched it, it occurred to me that if it was a satellite then why is it still, so just guessed it was a star but was way too bright? Then as I was thinking this it started moving to the SW I suddenly got a bit scared so I rushed back in and got my mobile phone and followed the bright light, some of the movements are me moving the phone to fallow as it was pretty fast, there was also a airplane in the distance coming in on the South, this object made no noise and had no flashing lights on it, I did wonder if it was the space station but it was way too low for that and don’t know if it would have passed over our house. It then went East 85’0 into a cloud? But there were no clouds SW when I first saw the object it was very clear in that area and a few stars out. Sorry for the delay but your email went into my junk mail. Thank you for getting back to me. Kind regards Andrea”

thank you for getting back to me, when I went out the patio door I first saw the object light in the W my door faces SW .
what a saw was a very bright large light couldn’t say it had a shape it was just very bright. It was very clear with lots of stars , that’s when at first I thought it was a star it was stationary but after a few seconds it started to move heading east, so I followed the bright object and it went into what was a cloud I would say maybe north east , I stopped filming but it didn’t come out and the cloud eventually went? I must say I was very shocked and disappointed that it didn’t reappear. My husband was working away and there was only me in the house, I don’t know if anyone else in our area saw anything? The air temperature I was not aware of I was in shock really, I was outside in the garden following the object so in clear view. Kind regards Andrea”

forget to describe the cloud it was a creamy white almond color I would have said it was almost like a oval shape or kinda pear shape, you couldn’t see in the video because my camera wouldn’t see because of the dark same for the stars that were out as well, I have been out most evening since trying to see if it comes again. yes I had to follow the bright object starting from the west when I first spotted it, I wasn’t aware of anything like dust or debris , i have re-watched the video and I am sure the hedge in the garden is swaying , if you look as I am following the light with my phone it’s SE the object goes out of view because this is a very tall hedge and then we see it again before it goes into the cloud. The main road that passes through our housing area is one block away to the front and the back of our house, hope this makes sense? If you go on google maps you can see where I am and what I mean (REMOVED) England. Hope I have answered your question.

I will attempt to identify what the witnesses observed based on the following facts along with the witness video and statement.

I have created 2 images based on the witness’s testimony, (created using the multiple email replies above) that lead up to the ‘start’ of the video footage recorded by the witness. Please note that the video does not contain stars in contrast to visuals.

Stellarium was used for the night sky around the Chesterfield area on 07/29/2018 11:00 PM

There were satellite trajectories in the witness’s field of view, however its difficult to confirm whether they were visible to the naked eye at that time.

I checked the meta data in the video file and noticed the creation date was 20/09/2018 at 18:33 and not 07/29/2018 11:00 PM

Weather at time of sighting sourced from Time and Date 07/29/2018 11:00 PM 

Google maps revealed 3 airports close by.

Conclusion

Based on the witness description and video, without further sufficient evidence I am unable to make a solid conclusion. Looking at the witness’s video it’s difficult to determine the movement of the light and the movement caused by the witness. Therefore I speculate this is most likely a commercial aircraft, however unable to determine.

The following case was submitted to The Black Vault / TBV Investigations. It originally came into the hotline, and was assigned to TBV Investigations’ researcher Richard Kidd for analysis.

Witness Testimony

The following was submitted by the witness:

“My neighbor Joe and I were enjoying several beers on my porch located in Carbondale, Pennsylvania. Shortly after midnight, we observed approx 6-7 LARGE Bright Orange Lights hovering in various formations over the homes across the street. These extremely bright objects seemed to appear and then slowly dim and disappear at will, and at certain times I personally could still see the objects themselves moving across the sky despite the lights being shut off.”

The Analysis

After contacting the witness regarding his sighting, the witness was reluctant to provide additional information other than that he had the video and the still photographs. I requested a detailed accounting of what he witnessed but, his account hasn’t as of yet arrived. I have contacted the witness 3 times since our first discussion and, the witness has not been forthcoming with any other information nor did he submit the video. 

An attempt was made to enhance the photograph above, but no additional details that were helpful could be determined.

Conclusion

I am recommending that this case be closed due to lack of evidence other that the photos that the witness has provided.

The following case was submitted to The Black Vault’s UFO reporting hotline. It was assigned to TBV Investigator Monica Salazar for investigation and analysis.

The Analysis

When I spoke to the witness on the phone she seemed completely baffled by what she had witnessed that night. To this day she still cannot believe it. The witness states that she saw a formation of lights in the sky that seemed to connect one giant object. In her own words, she described it as, “bigger than a few football fields.”

All in a straight formation headed out into the beach. She states that the lights lit up one by one in a very symmetrical way with the perfect distance between each other traveling at a low speed. Once the 5^th light lit up in view they all zoomed out at a drastic speed.

The witness was unable to capture any video or photographic evidence however she does state that her sister in law was there with her and she saw the incident as well, however was not able to capture any sort of photo or video evidence either.

During this UFO sighting, the Myrtle Beach Event Roundup, held from, July 7-18, 2018, took place. However, looking at the calendar of events, there does not appear to be any connection, at least none listed on the events page.

A month prior to this case, the U.S Army Golden Knights Parachute team parachuted down Myrtle Beach with Flares. If someone didn’t know about this event they could have easily been mistaken as UFOs since the parachute team was performing with flares that looked like orbs floating in the sky zooming in and out of each other. A video is below, though there does not appear to be any connection to this by the date.

The witness describes the orbs in a completely different way, though. Still as an investigator I wanted to add the Army light performance, to show how it could easily be mistaken.

Conclusion

I was able to communicate with the witness via phone and I can definitely tell she was so astonished by what she saw that she still can’t believe it. She did state that she is the “biggest skeptic in the world” and this incident has shed new light in her views on the subject of supernatural anomalies.

Of course it is difficult to have a good analysis without the proper evidence, and in this case without any sort of solid evidence it is challenging to decide whether or not this was an actual unidentified object or a case of mistaken identity with a plane or a natural “trick of the light.”

The one thing that for sure cannot be misread is the fact that the witness seemed completely thrown aback by the incident. In her own words she “had never seen something so massive.”

A witness testimony and, more often than not, emotion always play a part when trying to decide the fate of a case.

Since this case was lacking photographic and/or video evidence, and since the U.S. Army Knights Parachute Team was in the area just a month prior, I would classify as Unresolved/ Inconclusive due to lack of evidence.

The following was submitted by the witness:

“I woke at 1:25 am, this was several months ago, maybe now a year or more. When I woke I first looked at the clock because I hate waking up in the middle of the night on a weeknight when I work. Then I caught through a crack in my blinds a very bright light of which I thought was the moon. So I peeked through the blinds and the moon was super bright! Though I was mostly asleep I was compelled to get up and get my phone out of my purse and open my blinds in the middle of the night, which I would usually never do because of the fear of someone there looking in. Where I live it is pitch black on my street with no street lights. But I still got the phone and opened the blinds to take a picture of the moon.

From the time I spotted the “moon” and then turned and walked about three steps and then back, I was surprised to see how much it had moved in the sky, and though I was still half asleep my mind did pick up on that it was moving out of the sky extremely quick. I was able to shoot two pictures before it disappeared behind trees and the horizon. I then went back to bed, though my dog was sitting at my side looking towards my bedroom door shaking. It was odd and noticed. The next day I went to check out the pictures I had taken. In the first, it was an expected picture of what I thought was the moon, blurry from taking it with my phone. The second picture, however, was something else, something I can’t explain. It is the same thing, what I thought was the moon, but clearly, it is not. Has anyone seen anything like this before? The shapes are very interesting. This is posted on my Onstellar page as a post with both pictures.”

I emailed the witness a few times, she was very responsive, and she was able to provide additional pictures as requested. However, after several unanswered subsequent emails, I did attempt to phone the witness with no further contact.

My analysis is as follows to the best of my ability with the information given.

As the witness stated, she was woken up in the middle of the night to glowing lights outside her window. The witness also stated that it was odd for her to wake up at such a strange hour of the night. When analyzing the images provided by the witness you can clearly see a glowing white object. The images are a big grainy so it is hard to tell. The witness did state that she was zoomed in all the way 10x as her phone allowed her to.

One observation, is a similarity between the “striations” on the second photograph submitted, which coincide with the slats of the drop down blinds, and the vertical ‘string’ in the design of the blinds.   Here is a comparison image illustrating what may account for the pattern:

Also when speaking to the witness she stated the object was traveling at a slow speed headed west from what she believes is the south side.

In the images, you can see the object almost split, perhaps not all the way but you can clearly see a divisional pattern. At first glance, I believed this to be the mosquito net that most homes come with in every window. However, I did ask the witness to provide me with some daytime photos of the same window from the outside and the inside. From the images on the outside, you can see that there is nothing that would obstruct the camera in such a way that would create what was in the original images. In addition, the image from the inside it seems that the window this witness took the image from does not have mosquito net. At least not that I can tell from the images.

Conclusion

The witness, to the extent of my communication with her, was very credible and cooperative; she seemed to be genuinely interested in what she had captured. She even submitted the images to Onstellar in hopes of getting a clear answer as to what she had captures.

I will not deny the images are great and intriguing yet, they are very grainy and blurry it is truly hard to tell. I will not dismiss the idea of the object she captured to be from out of this world but without further tangible evidence, I would have to classify it as: Undetermined due to insufficient evidence.

Background

The following case was submitted by Geoffrey Heyman on January 26, 2018, the day of his sighting. It was assigned to TBV Investigations’ researcher Monica Salazar for analysis.

Witness Testimony

The following was submitted by Mr. Heyman about his sighting:

“3 orb like lights seem like they were in a bubble Separating and seemed like they were going in an out of each other. No sound just brilliant light illumination. This was at 5:38 am on January 26th 2018 in the skies over Manchester, Maryland.”

The Analysis

I emailed the witness a few times, however I seldom received a response. I was finally able to speak to the witness via phone call. He was able to describe to me a little better what he saw that night and of course his idea of what it could have been. 

Geoffrey Heyman recalls seeing lights in the sky traveling about southeast to southwest at a relatively slow speed, and about 300ft to 400ft low to the ground, he describes it as “a plane about to land” kind of height and speed. Mr. Heyman also mentioned that an ex colleague of his saw a similar object from his home hovering just above a valley. 

Mr. Heyman describes the object as three orbs moving in and out of each other, he states he has never seen anything like this before. He remembers the objects having an orange and yellow sort of glow, however he remembers it was day break so the way he describes the objects as “almost transparent but you could see the outline, as if they were taking the color of the sky as the sun was coming up like camouflage”

There is no actual physical evidence for this sighting however Mr. Heyman did state he rushed inside his home to grab his phone and possibly take a picture of the object however when he returned the glowing lights were gone. 

Conclusion

I found the witness to be a very credible witness with knowledge of typical and familiar commercial aircraft. I am positive you could tell if the object could have been a plane or not. Objects like these have been seen in the areas of Maryland quite often. I was able to visit the “National UFO Reporting Center State Report Index for MD” http://www.nuforc.org/webreports/ndxlMD.html 

In this site there have been several similar “Lights” reported in the area. In fact just a day prior to Mr. Haymans report, just one hour southwest in Frederick MD there was a very similar report of “… a bright orange light reflecting off the windows.”

Now I can’t really say this was definitely a UFO however with other people in the general area reporting the same mysterious lights hovering it makes you wonder if in fact there is something of interest in Maryland. 

For the sake of this report and because of lack of physical evidence I would conclude this as undetermined due to lack of sufficient evidence.

The following case was submitted to TBV Investigations on March 16, 2018. It was assigned to TBV Investigations researcher Jim Kerr for investigation. 

Witness Testimony

The following was submitted to TBV Investigations in the initial report:

“My husband Lance and I both saw the UFO at the same time. It was at dusk around 6:05 PM but still light, and the sky was blue. We were standing on our back deck looking at birds on our lake. We had our binoculars in hand. I saw this bright shiny thing in the sky. At first we thought it was a plane, then we realized it wasn’t. It was round like a moon hovering in the sky and very bright, like a mirror reflecting light. As we watched it, it divided in half, a vertical line that divided the circle in half. You could see the sky between the two halves. The halves stayed side by side and continued to hover for about a minute or two. Then it just vanished. About 10 seconds later it reappeared still divided but this time it was moving southward, then it vanished again. It’s hard to say how far away it was, but you could see it well with the naked eye and even better with the binoculars. It would have been hard to get a good picture of it without zoom lenses.”

Witness Interview

On 03-27-2018 at 1:10 pm PST I conducted a telephone interview with witnesses Tina and Lance. A little over a month has passed since their sighting and their description of the incident closely matches their original written statement submitted to TBV investigations. Both witnesses seemed credible, sincere and neither formed an opinion as to what this object was.

On 02-23-2018 at approx 6:00 pm, witnesses Tina and Lance related to me they were standing on the rear deck of their house which overlooks a small lake behind their property. The sky was clear with no cloud cover, the sun had set but was still light with good visibility. It is common practice for witnesses to bird watch from their deck using binoculars. Both witnesses observed a round illuminated stationary object in the western sky at approx 30 degrees above the western horizon. This initial sighting lasted for approx two minutes. Both witnesses stated the object first appeared to be the light from an aircraft but then determined the object was stationary and was not a aircraft. The object was brightly illuminated with a mirror like appearance. Witness Tina related, with her naked eye, the object was the size of a 50 cent piece held at arms length. Witness Lance related, with his naked eye, the object was the size of a dime held at arms length. During this first observation, approx one minute into the sighting, the object split vertically into two equal half’s, slightly separated, and blue sky could be seen behind the vertical split. Viewing the object through binoculars both witnesses related the edge around both split half’s of the object was blurry and not sharply defined. After viewing the object for approx two minutes it began to move slowly in a southerly direction for a short distance while maintaining the same altitude then suddenly vanished. The object did not travel out of sight but vanished from view. 

Approx 30 seconds after the initial sighting, both witnesses related the object reappeared southwest of it’s original location at approx 30 degrees above the horizon. The object was moving very slowly in a southerly direction for approx 30 seconds then suddenly vanished.

The Analysis

With the lack of video or photo evidence, I will attempt to identify what the witnesses observed based on the following facts along with witness statements.

Checking the website “Weather Underground” weather for this date and location at 5:55 pm, the temperature was 70 degrees , dew point 59 degrees, average humidity 68%, precipitation 0.00, wind speed 0 mph and visibility 10 miles with scattered cloud cover. Based on this weather report the witnesses had a relativity clear but very lightly obstructed view of the sky due to scattered clouds. Evaluating witness statements, I don’t believe the scattered clouds hindered their observations of the object. 

Researching Stellarium for know celestial objects on 02-23-2018 @ 6:00 pm, the planet Venus was visible at approx 30 degrees above the western horizon. Venus would have appeared bright in the sky, approx 2 millimeters in size at arms length but not the size of a 50 cent piece or dime as described by the witnesses. Additionally, Venus’s only movement would be setting in the west same as the sun. Based on witness statements Venus can be ruled out as the object they observed. 

Airports near Asheboro, NC. Based on the number of airports located near the witnesses location they most likely have observable air traffic. Even at sunset aircraft landing lights can still be quite bright and at times appear stationary in the sky for several seconds, especially if the aircraft is traveling directly toward the observer. Many aircraft have dual landing lights. When approaching closer to an observer, dual landing lights could account for an object appearing to dividing vertically in two as both landing lights come into view. Turning off landing lights could account for an object appear to vanish. Could the witnesses have seen the landing lights of an approaching aircraft then 30 seconds later seen a second approaching aircraft? Based on the witness statements they are positive the object was not an aircraft. However, if the object was in fact aircraft landing lights pointed in their direction and the aircraft turned in a southerly direction, this could explain this sighting.

Again, with no video or photo evidence I can only theorize to the identity of the object.

Conclusion

According to the witnesses this was a strange unexplained sighting and unfortunately no video or photo evidence was captured. With the lack of physical evidence I could only theorize as to the identity of this object.

Background

The following case was submitted to TBV Investigations on April 15, 2018, just three days after the sighting. It was assigned to TBV Investigations’ researcher Michael Glenn for investigation.

The witness only submitted the following description in their report:

“White orb flying around then disappears”

The Evidence

The Analysis

The video was run through Adobe Premiere, wherein I checked for verification of a solid, real object in inverted mode, and with levels and contrast adjustments.

The object can be seen coming across the sky, touching the edge of the Flying J sign, and then reappearing moments later on the other side.

The witness was contacted, but no further reply was received. There is a regional airport in the exact direction of the sighting, however, no flight records could be cross reference at the time of this report.  The map of this location, with the approximate witness location, is marked:

I matched the Google Street View location, where the witness was approximately standing:

The same directional orientation is maintained with the following image, displaying the location of the nearby airport. Although the object does not appear from be going to the airport, it could be an indicator of the source of where this craft came from, or will eventually end up. 

It is also possible that the object is a satellite, however, an EXACT match was not possible to match up, since the witness supplied very little information. 

The object goes in and out of focus several times, and seems to disappear at the end of the video after going well out of focus by the camera.  

One concern is that the object seems to disappear all at once, rather than by degrees, before it goes behind the gas station sign.  This could be due to a frame rate issue of the cell phone camera or compression artifact when the video was exported, and the frames indicating the gradual disappearance behind the sign were dropped, therefore displaying as an immediate disappearance rather than a gradual one. 

Conclusion

The sighting is most likely air traffic, with the aircraft going out of focus or behind clouds at the end of the video. Without more testimony from the eyewitness the case must remain unknown. The aircraft shows no other signs of aberrant behavior while it is observed.

A video was submitted showing several objects swirling around an exterior security camera.

The witness stated in their original submission, “This thing or object makes a U-Turn in the Sky, then descents thru the clouds!”

This can be inferred from the video, but is more speculation than what the video shows. The object appears to rise, than come back down. Not enough contrast in the video makes it impossible to discern the nature of the object. The witness was contacted and asked for additional footage of the same camera views during daylight to determine what structures are in that direction.

To date, there has been no response or communication from the witness, and the object remains unidentified, but lacks sufficient evidence or any follow up from the witness.

Conclusion

As seen in the video, the object is little more than a white dot that rises, and makes a turn in the sky.

In still 6 the object seems to appear again at the bottom of the frame, at the very end of the video.

The quality of the video has been enhanced as much as possible, but the terrain, the object, and the sky cannot be discerned definitively. At this time the object is not identifiable, but likely not anything out of the ordinary, until further evidence (or testimony) is presented.

I was able to communicate with the witness via email multiple times she was very cooperative when requesting additional info. 

This video was filmed using a cell phone with MP4 1080p capabilities with an average Bitrate of 13.1Mbps and as per the witness; it is at “max zoom” at x10. 

The video was analyzed frame by frame and at slower speeds through windows video editor and Android video shop; however, the video is pretty shaky and grainy making it challenging to examine. 

There were no audible sounds apart from the witness speaking and after speaking with the witness, she did add that the object appeared to be traveling upwards.

In one of the frames about 00:01 sec in to the video, you can see the object the clearest seems like circular shape almost doughnut like. Here is a screen shot:

Conclusion

After carefully examining the video and speaking to the witness, I would conclude there is simply not enough tangible evidence to deem this case solved.

The video is not very stable and since it is zoomed all the way, it is a bit difficult to determine what the object really is. Close by to where this video was taken there is a NASA Airport test facility, and even though there were no test flights at the time of the video (that I could find) it could very well be a NASA drone. 

In brief, I determine this to be “Unidentified, Insufficient Evidence” as there is simply not enough evidence plus the fact that the NASA test facility is close by makes it difficult to determine if it indeed is something unidentified. Overall, despite the video being difficult to analyze, the case is quite compelling and definitely worthy of a conversation.

It will remain archived here in hopes another witness may come forward.

“I was on my way to work, I was traveling east on rt 5 just entering Scotia, I saw at least 3 red lights atop one another in the sky, i thought maybe a satellite, but i thought it was too close, I pulled over to try to get it on my cell phone, because it was moving away and dark my phone didn’t really capture the image. I got back in my car and about 20 seconds further down the road I saw something light up in the sky. It looked like a big scoreboard all lit up and moving towards me. I pulled over and started to get a video. The size was big and lights all over, the shape was something I’ve never seen before. It glided right past me!!!! No noise from the craft at all. The design of it has me at a loss for words and I’m anxious to know what the hell was it! No military or airplane that is for sure! I reviewed my video and I believe because of the lights it doesn’t show what I exactly saw but I do have video. I’m trying to draw what I saw. I really need to speak to someone who can help me get a grip on this and go further into detail about this ship that I saw. I know it was below radar because it was that close! When I watch the video I hear strange sounds that I don’t know what made them. The only sound made was a few cars passing by and at time of sighting i did not hear anything at all.”

I spoke with the witness multiple times via phone, text, and email. I’ve analyzed the video at slower speeds and frame by frame. There are 4 objects visible in the video. The moon, an aircraft identifiable by its flashing/blinking navigation/collision lights, a tree in the right side of the video, and what I suspect to be lights from a home, or building in the distance of bottom of video.

This was later confirmed after receiving a daytime photo of the sighting location. The noise in the video not audible to the witness while shooting is most likely interference from the high voltage power lines seen in the daytime photo producing EMFs, Electro-magnetic frequencies.

The object in her sketch doesn’t resemble anything I’m familiar with, nor any typically reported object I’m aware of.

Conclusion

I found the witness to be a very credible witness with knowledge of typical civilian and military aircraft.  When only taking the video into consideration, it is very likely the object is an aircraft, or a drone, as the blinking lights, and the colors of them (seemingly alternating white and red) are indicative of an aircraft or drone.  However, her testimony and firsthand account of the object’s description, coupled with her knowledge about civilian and military aircraft, adds a different element to the case. 

Although her video does not contain evidence of the object she describes or sketches, I believe that she saw something she couldn’t identify.

Therefore, I feel I will label this case unexplained, with the caveat that it does lack sufficient evidence (a stabilized video with more detail) to properly identify the object, or to confirm it is truly an “unknown.” 

The witness stated additional, uncompressed videos, are being sent. To date, they have not been received.

On March 22^nd, 2018 around 10:30 PM in Tully, NY an object was witnessed in the sky above the cemetery next to Doody’s Garage.  It was submitted to The Black Vault / TBV Investigations the same evening by the witness.

The case was assigned to TBV Investigations’ researcher Michael Kelly. 

Witness Testimony

“I was driving down the street, I was heading in to work, as I was driving I saw a white light go across the windshield in the sky, and did an “S” maneuver, then disappeared. It’s currently winter in Tully, it was not a plane or a helicopter, and it was not a firework or a flare. I pulled over and scanned the sky but saw nothing other than stars. We were probably about 1/4 mile from the light, we had our windows up so we didn’t hear anything and we saw no structure behind the light. The light was circular, no change other than when it disappeared, my buddy who was driving with me saw it too. There was no one else around, and I’ve never heard of stories or rumors of the area.”

The Analysis

This object displayed unusual flight patterns, doing an “S” maneuver and disappearing, which suggests that it was not a normal aircraft. The witness did not think it was a plane or helicopter, so based on his own observation this would be classified as unidentified.

It is possible that the object was further away than originally thought, and if that were the case, this may have been a traditional aircraft of some kind. There are three airports within 10 miles of Tully, so the pedestrian explanation for this observation is that this object was merely a craft operating out of one of these airports.

It should also be noted that there is a Hang Gliding Launch less than 5 miles from Tully.

Conclusion

There is not enough data to make a definitive conclusion about this case. The fact that the observer did not think this object was identifiable should be taken seriously. If one were to lean toward a skeptical explanation, the most likely account is that the observer witnessed a hang glider. This would account for the lack of sound, the bizarre “S” shaped maneuver (caused by high winds?), and the unusual lighting.

Witness Testimony

Investigator Richard Kidd spoke to Lucy again on April 24, 2018, and she provided him with some additional information regarding some research she has been doing on her own. She stated that she hasn’t been able to find any other sightings in the San Leandro area that pertain to her and her son’s original sighting that she reported to The Black Vault. She did however, find sightings around the area that were more recent. 

Conclusion

Through my conversations with Lucy on the telephone, she is a highly educated and honest witness. I believe that she had indeed witnessed what she reported to The Black Vault. However, other than verifying that where her sighting occurred is an ongoing reporting area, her sighting could not be verified by additional witnesses or by other individual reports.

For this reason, Lucy case should be listed and “Unidentified – Lacks Sufficient Evidence”

The Analysis

The witness has been quick to respond to additional questions I’ve presented. It was determined that the direction faced was West, which is important having seen the object descend below the tree line in the video. It was estimated (by the witness) that the object appeared about 1.5 kilometers away, but the rate of speed could not be determined.

As always, the goals with this kind of investigation is to determine possible alternative explanations for the evidence being presented, which may or may not always corroborate the witness’ experiences, however, it is not necessarily performed in attempt to discredit the witness.

During the course of the interview, the witness supplied additional photographs:

“Did not make a sound it was approximately 1 1/2 km from us and at that distance I can hear Jets or commercial plane at this distance. I was in the military for four years so I’ve heard planes helicopters other various things in the sky this was not it. I don’t think in good confidence I could tell you the speed of the object. Couldn’t see any form but hear is another pic of same object and you can see a jet and stream above it.”

Multiple photo post-processing enhancement techniques were used in attempt to gain more detail of the object such as:

• Zoom
• Various filters
• Inversion
• Color enhancement
• Brightness
• Contrast
• Sharpen

In addition, the photos were uploaded to Fotoforensics.com where ELA analysis was completed, metadata reviewed, and compression analysis was performed.

All of the photos submitted depict the object brightly illuminated, however, it was difficult to determine any significant structural details with all of the enhancements made. You will notice a shadow effect appearing on some of the sharpened images, however, that shadow does not correlate with the placement of the sun over the horizon and is most likely a result of too much sharpness being applied by the filter as it does not show up in any other image adjustments.

ELA does not suggest any manipulation of the photos, and no evidence was found that these images had been compressed or adjusted in any way. The metadata confirms the witness’s time and date report.

Possible explanations

Airplane – I initially thought this could be a plane, but the fact that the object is moving away from the witness is key. Normally an airplane would have a bright light on the nose of the plane, rather than the tail. No blinking lights were observed, and only the single bright light is seen which doesn’t seem to vary in luminescence value. The lights on a plane would vary in intensity relative to the position of the witness as the plane travels, and you would typically see running lights as well. Given the fact that the object descends to the West relatively close to the witness, and the nearest airport is over 300 miles away in that general direction, it is unlikely this is a plane.

Helicopter – for the same reasons the plane could be ruled out (no running lights), it is feasible that the object could be a helicopter based on appearance alone. A helicopter with a spotlight could produce a similar appearance, however, the details concerning the direction of travel reduce this as a possibility. A spotlight would need to be constantly pointing in the direction of the witness to maintain its luminescence values as well. In addition, the witness claimed the object didn’t make any noise, which would rule out the possibility of a helicopter. I had considered the possibility of a helicopter landing on a helipad of a hospital as well, but it should be noted that the nearest hospital near that direction is St. Mary’s General, which is more North-West than directly West, and is approximately 23 kilometers away.

Drone – There have been some brilliant LCD lights affixed to drones in some reports. Given the close proximity, a drone could not be 100% ruled out, however, they tend to be very noisy as well. It is unclear how much distance the object may have traveled throughout the entire witness experience, but drones typically have a very short range, but some high-end models have a range of up to 7-10 kilometers.

Conclusion

Several details were considered given the object’s appearance, direction of travel and luminescence. The fact that no airports are nearby and the object made no sound, it is reasonable to rule out any known aircraft or drone. The consistent light brightness is also unusual when considering known aircraft.

A search of known flight paths was conducted and none were able to be found with low altitude or within such close proximity of the witness. An additional search for UFO reports in the area during the time of the witness report also yielded no results.

The photos and video also, unfortunately, did not produce much detail of the object itself.

At this time, the nature of the object remains unexplained.

The following case was submitted to The Black Vault’s UFO hotline on February 16, 2018. It was assigned to TBV Investigations’ researcher Richard Kidd. 

Witness Testimony

I have seen a few things in my 57 years for sure. The problem with UFOs is your left at your witts end guessing at what you may have looked upon, then of course doubting if you should discuss it with others.

I believe what I saw was USAF experimental some new design concept craft.  What I witnessed the night I called Black Vaults line;

The aircraft was traveling due northbound from my right. I was traveling due east on I-20, approaching Tye TX, (suburb of Abelene, TX) at 68 mph in my rig Dupre Truck 8307, trailer 67018 returning from delivering a load of chemicals to Ace Services in Odessa TX, near Midland TX.

The craft I spotted was at approx 1000-1300 ft. It looked in size that of a Gulfstream 4. Not a big commercial jet or a smaller Learjet. It had three circle lights on its underside, pure white and the normal aircraft blinking beacons. *my reasoning here is alien aircraft would not need these lights for aircraft IDs as human piloted aircraft being our aircraft require them whether civilian or military*.

The aircraft was indistinguishable in shape as it started passing over I-20 but I did not recognize normal shapes such as an aileron, wings, fuselage etc. It traveled due north over I-20, I am guess 1/4 to 1/2 mile in front of me. It went about 1 mile north and turned sharp 90 degrees to the east, the same direction I was traveling. I assumed at that time it was going to land in that area. About two miles east it turn 90 degrees again taking a due south path remaining at the same altitude. I was almost intercepting it at that tine traveling almost underneath it heading east. This was about a half mile before the Tye, TX exit with the Flying J truck stop. As it passed over I got a good visual of its bottom side. It was definitely triangle in shape. Rounded corners at all three points. The white circular lights inside each corner perfectly centered in each corner. Its strobes were still blinking. It had a bit of a soft diffused haze or glow around the craft which could have been attributed to dust or fog at that altitude although it was clear elsewhere overhead. The triangle craft passed over I-20 and continued south I am guesstimating two miles. I had taken the exit ramp at that time to Tye TX. I saw it at that time make a slight flash a disappear as if it launched due south almost faster than your eyes could record.

The color was grey, or possibly a titanium type color but the glow and light from the three circles made it appeared medium to lite grey. It had no visible N-number or aircraft ID markings or insignia on it. I did not see any widows, portals, landing gear, air control surfaces such as wings, ailerons, tail nor did it have a fuselage. It made zero noise, none. And it never banked like an aircraft with wings during its two 90 degree direction changes.

Other facts: I did not see any beams of light shoot down under it or cattle getting sucked up into it. I did not loose time nor did my radio go static or my truck battery dead. I did not disappear and reappear 3500 miles away naked at a convenient store. I just stopped a minute, called your hotline as it appeared first on my smartphone Google and I thought the name Black Vault sounded interesting. I then traveled on to my fuel stop for the night at the next Love’s truck stop.

I am releasing this info to Black Vault as a witness statement of a UFO with my summary opinion that it is a USAF vehicle of experimental type, and as of now may be listed as Classified by DoD status.

I’ve been in contact with Ken and I’m in the process of locating the local law enforcement agency, because I wanted to check and see if they had any reports in the area that Ken is referring to. And, if so, I would like to find out how many reports were received.

UFOs are a subject that has re-emerged numerous times and the availability of video has proven itself the “seeing is believing” momentum although the ability to forge fakes has also paralled real footage.

There is far more to it than disclosed, but the fact we are still infants to solar exploration and interstellar travel I believe makes us the “hostile ape petting zoo” of the advanced species that have been observing earth since we were primordial soup.

We are severely lacking compared to what we occasionally witness. And EBE are not human, do not think like us or share our limited perspectives.

Good luck investigating. Be careful. More than one government wants the lid sealed tight in UFO s, EBE and their technology.

Case Update from Investigator Richard Kidd – 03/11/2018 3:34 pm

I have been in contact with the Tye, TX. Police Dept. and I’m currently waiting for any reports that were filed regarding any sightings. I am also contacting the Abelene, TX. Police Dept. and the TX. State Police Dept. for any information regarding any sightings from the period of 2/12/18 thru 2/16/18 the reasoning behind contacting the Abelene, Police Dept. is that Tye TX. is a suburb of Abelene and is within the flight path of the craft that Mr. McLaren reported.. Also, by contacting the Texas State Police, any additional sightings would have been reported to them.

I am making certain that I am contacting the Law Enforcement agencies in and around the sighting area as well as the Texas State Police,  in this case and that I will receive sighting confirmation of what Mr. McLaren has reported he witnessed. It is not unusual for there not to be any other witnesses or, other persons to have reported a sighting. 

Case Update from Investigator Richard Kidd – 03/15/2018 2:21pm

Followed up with the Texas State Police and was informed that there have not been any reports of strange aircraft sightings in the area of Tye, Texas or the Abelene, Texas area between the dates of 02/12/2018 and 02/16/2018.

Although there haven’t been any reported sightings by any of the Law Enforcement agencies, doesn’t mean that there were no other sightings in the reported area. This could simply mean that other persons ( if there were any ) did not report what they may have seen. In the case of Ken McLaren’s sighting, nothing can be proven or disproven.

Follow up emails with Mr. McLaren hasn’t yielded any other reports of sightings and TBV Investigations will monitor the reported sighting area for future sightings or events as they transpire.

Conclusion

Mr. McLaren’s sighting off of I-20 on February 15^th 2018 and the description of what he witnessed, had not been reported to any Law Enforcement agency in Texas by any other witness.

After calling the Tye, Texas Police Dept and the State Troopers office in Abelene, they could not verify that anyone else had reported anything unusual in the sky on the evening of the February 15th, 2018.  

With the lack of additional physical or photographic evidence, and the lack of corroborating witness testimony (for now) this case is being labeled Unidentified, Lacks Sufficient Evidence for Proper Identification.

Background

This case came through the TBV Investigations UFO Report Form. It was assigned to TBV Investigations researcher Michael Glenn. 

Upon reading the account this investigator asked for more specific details, and at this time none have been forthcoming from the witness. After one month, we have closed the case due to insufficient contact, and insufficient evidence to make a viable conclusion.

“At first I thought it was a weather balloon in the sky. It looked shiny, clear and kinda metallic completely round. Then like a moon eclipsing it started to disappear slowly. Then in the blink of an eye it was gone. 30 seconds later it reappeared and did the same eclipsing disappearing thing. It did not appear again. I’ve never seen anything like it, and it definitely felt not of this world.”

Conclusion

Not enough data to draw a conclusion, nor to validate the event.

Possible causes for the event would only be speculative.

Witness Testimony

My friends and I were outside playing in my front yard. It was dark, around 9pm. It was 3 friends of mine and myself. We were outside wrestling and cutting up. We looked up above us and there it was.

A huge triangular shaped craft hovering right over us above the tree line. This craft made absolutely no sound at all. There was a light on each corner and I think there was one in the center. It hovered perfectly still. Never made a sound. The craft was black and the lights were red. I recall staring at it for several minutes.

It was watching us. I know it was. I remember April started to run inside and get her parents. As soon as she started running, the craft just kinda made a 90 degree turn and slowly hovered into the woods. Never making a sound. It was absolutely amazing. I felt like I had some sort of connection. I never got scared. Never saw it again.

I have a part 2 lol. In those same woods, about 5 years earlier, my grandpa an I walked those woods all the time. You would go through woods then it opened up into huge fields of dead grass. One particular day, pawpaw and I saw crop circles in the dead grass. They were not huge like you see on tv, but they were big.

I don’t remember the shapes. My grandpa didn’t know what to make of it. The crazy part is that I KNEW WHAT THEY WERE!! I was only like 5 or 6 lol. There was no question in my mind. Thank you so very much for taking time to read this. I look into the sky every single night, hoping to see it one last time. Best wishes to you and please be safe!!

When asked in follow up e-mails to identify the type of craft that was seen, the witness commented this looked very similar to what they had seen:

“It was hovering very low but it was so black that it almost blended in with the night. I remember a light on each corner and a light In the center. It made absolutely no sound at all. It was huge. I know in my heart that this was no “secret military craft.” This was not man made and whoever it was flying it, were watching us and they didn’t want anyone else to see it.

It hovered off into the woods where three or four years prior, my grandpa and I saw crop circles in a field of tall dead grass. They weren’t big like you see on TV but no man made them. I can’t remember the shapes of them. The crazy part is, at the age of 5 years old, I knew what they were. I probably shouldn’t have, but I did. I saw the triangle back in either 90 or 91. Augusta, Ga. It was probably around 9pm. It was like it just appeared.

We looked up and there it was. I know this sounds crazy, but I swear I had a connection with this craft. I wasn’t scared, I chased after it. I didn’t want it to leave. I really appreciate you contacting me about this. It means a lot. Any advice you have or opinions is greatly appreciated and thank you for what you are doing. Please keep in contact.”

The following UFO report was submitted to The Black Vault / TBV Investigations on December 19, 2017.  It was assigned to Jeremy Enfinger, TBV Investigations. 

Witness Testimony

The following was the original report submitted by the witness:

“On estimated date of Aug 5, 2008, at 4:05 AM, I walked onto the front porch to get some fresh air. Sitting at the East bannister and looking directly over my porch portico at about a 60 degree angle-from-horizontal to the West, I observed a circle of light grow from a pinpoint to about the size of a quarter held at arms length in the span of around three seconds.

The light was bright but did not hurt my eyes. I glanced quickly to my right and saw shadows from bushes barely visible on the ground from the bright light. It was still dark and no moon was visible from my position. The bright ring of light blinked out and I could see a pinpoint of light in the center of what-had-been the circle of light that appeared to be as bright as a magnitude three star.

It was stationary for approximately 5-8 seconds, then began moving in a South-Westerly direction, gaining speed until it shot out of sight faster than the eye could follow. From start to finish the sighting seemed to last about three-to-four minutes.

Note: the date and time is only an estimation, with the time being more accurate; I did not write the date and time down after the observation.”

The Analysis

Additional dialogue with the witness indicated the exact date and time were not remembered. The morning light was not yet visible at the time of the sighting, and no moon reflection was appreciated. The object was witnessed WNW of Oak Hill, West Virginia.

Since the sighting was reported to be on or around August 5, 2008. the National UFO Reporting Center was referenced for reports near that time. Although no exact matches were identified, the following three reports possessed similar appearances, though the exact times/locations were subject to some inconsistencies:

• “UFO or some sort of object flying over Oak Hill, WV” – reported 9/23/08 at 0830
• “Unidentified object appeared to be following contrail of jet airplane” – reported 9/18/08 at 1840 (doesn’t match the time of day, and location is North of you, but witness does not specify direction seen)
• “UFO vanishes within seconds after observing for 10 minutes upon aircraft approach!” – reported 8/13/08 at 0040 (reported about 30 miles from you in Summersville, but they do not specify direction seen)

Two airports in the Northwest direction from the witness’s location during the sighting exist. Island airport is the closest near the direction the object was visualized, followed by Yeager airport, home to 130th Airlift Wing of the West Virginia Air National Guard (composed primarily of C-130s).

Witness testimony indicated no moonlight was visible during the sighting, and while the date and time were estimated, the position of the moon could be verified on the estimated date at 4.61 degrees South (latitude) and it was in Waxing Crescent Moon phase, illuminating 18%, which would explain the lack of visibility by the witness.

Possible Explanations

Due to the proximity of the airports and their locations in comparison to the witness’s vantage point, commercial aircraft and/or military aircraft must be considered.However, the rate of speed observed by the witness would not indicate aircraft known to the public.

Conclusion

Stars, planets, satellites and the International Space Station can be ruled out due to the changing position of the object from being stationary to accelerating at high speeds.

The object remains to be unidentified.

Witness Testimony

Large circular object. No rotation of object noted.

Moving very slowly at perhaps 10 mph.

Grayish in color with large highly illuminated enclosed circular deck on bottom of craft.

No nighttime running lights, no noise or other sounds noted. Very impressive.

One other witness who has since died.

Sighting lasted about 2 minutes at best.

Witness Testimony

This happened when I was about nine or ten. My mother took my brother and myself to San Francisco from Mill Valley to do some shopping at the Army base. My brother and I decided we wanted to stay in the car. In those days the cars had large wide back windows so being bored I decided to roll down the back window and stretch out in the back window shelf and lay my head on the window sill and look up at the sky and the clouds.

I was kind of a day dreamer in those days. While looking up I noticed three white dots. They were just sitting there doing nothing. They were way up in the sky. As I watched them they moved in a circle around each other then disappeared. In those days I knew nothing about aliens or weather balloons or space ships.

After they left I forgot all about them until years later when watching a special on TV about the same thing at which time I was in my 20’s.

The second time I witnessed something was about 1978.

I was on highway 395 in Nevada driving North from Topaz Lake It was about 4 pm about eight miles north from the lake. This was a long stretch of two lane road at the time. I could see for about a mile down the road. As I was looking down the road about a half mile ahead a large ball of light, about twenty feet in diameter shot across the highway from west to east.

When I got to where I could stop and look where the light was there was nothing. Ill never forget it.

Witness Testimony

“Saw triangle shape with lights around the edges floating across the sky in the direction of Reagan airport.

The craft was as large as a football field and just floated silently across the sky.

I must admit that I was using my night vision goggles which is why no one else seemed to be disturbed or seemed to say or notice anything. Now I know there are giant flying triangles and what they are I have no idea.

One more note is that this was during the nuclear summit at the Pentagon.”

The Analysis

Based on the witness description, the event took place on March 15, 2016, and stated this was during the “nuclear summit” at the Pentagon.  However, the summit did not actually begin until March 31st (2 weeks later) and ended on April 1, 2016.

(Please note: we do not believe this error was submitted to us maliciously and is only noted due to the information and possible identity of the UFO below)

Upon investigation, it’s possible that aerial surveillance drones or other aircraft were patrolling the area prior to the summit, which could account for an increase in air traffic and therefore may account for the UFO seen on night vision.

Though a triangular shaped drone or surveillance aircraft does seem unlikely, it’s possible that through the use of night vision goggles — the object may have one shape, but appear on night vision as another, given the right circumstances. 

Given the location of the UFO, according to the witness, was in the direction of Reagan airport, it is possible this is simply a commercial aircraft, as well.  

Without an exact time stamp, it would be impossible to round down a potential flight number that could account for the craft seen through the night vision goggles.

Conclusion

Without further evidence, in the form of a photograph or video (or exact time), it is hard to determine the actual identity of the UFO.

Background

The following case was submitted to The Black Vault / TBV Investigations on December 18, 2017.  

Witness Testimony

I live in a separate building from the main house at this address. I was walking towards the west after taking out the trash, and I saw a shooting star directly above the main house. It went straight down, which was weird, and it lasted longer than a typical shooting star.

But what was really weird was that its trajectory changed and it appeared to curve towards the west (away from me) at a practically 90 degree angle until it disappeared. The whole experience lasted only a few seconds. It was just a light streak like a shooting star (I’ve seen several shooting stars in person).

The Analysis

Based on the witness description, a 90 degree turn would rule out a shooting star. 

Satellite’s do “turn” as they move with the curvature of the Earth, but that could be ruled out as well with a 90 degree angle.

Conclusion

Without further evidence, in the form of a photograph or video, it is hard to determine the actual identity of the UFO.

The following case was submitted to The Black Vault / TBV Investigations on January 26, 2018.  It was assigned to team member Christopher Connelly for investigation.

Witnesses Testimony

UFO seen over Central Texas. This is a stop motion video I made by taking several long exposure photos of the sky and stitching them together in order.  My camera isn’t good enough in low light to capture a video, so this is the best I could do.

We saw it for 6 nights in a row, same location in the sky but moved slightly up each night. The lights were actually flashing a few different ways. Sometimes they would blink, sometimes they strobes, sometimes very bright, sometimes dim, etc.

No real pattern that I could see.

Same time each night adding about 20 minutes each night.

Checked every resource I know of to cross reference with satellite sightings and space station orbits and it didn’t match any.

It may have appeared more, but we got several days of cloud cover after that. Once the sky was clear again, we saw nothing.  This was about August 5th, 2017.

The Evidence

In this short video you are faced with the night sky, that takes the eyes a while to adjust to.

Once adjusted you are able to witness a small flashing light that pans across the line of sight in the video. No color changes noted. Direction is linear, with no changes. No sound can be heard in the video.

Conclusion

Unfortunately, I attempted to reach out to the original witness multiple times, through multiple outlets but with no return emails or messages.

With the evidence provided, I believe that the object in the video may be a satellite, based on the way that it moves and that directional pattern that it uses.

As stated in the analysis, there were no other pieces of evidence accompanying the video, such as sound or a witness statement.

Without additional contact with the witness, or an exact date (as it is noted the witness stated it was “about” August 5th, there is no way to cross reference satellite data or other information that may help identify the object.

Background

The following case was submitted to The Black Vault / TBV Investigations. However, after numerous attempts by team member Rob Mercer to contact the witness by phone and email, they did not return any messages.

We decided to archive the case, in hopes the witness may reach out in the future, or corroborating testimony can be discovered.

Witness Testimony

The following was submitted by the witness (unedited):

I joined the Air Force in February, 1996. After basic training, I was sent to Ft. Huachuca, Arizona (an Army base) for more training. I don’t know the exact day, but it had to be between May 15, 1996-July, 1996 (the length of time I was stationed there).

We had just finished our training for the day, which was around 3:00 pm, and were in formation for our usual daily update. One particular day, we were told that the base was on lockdown.

No one was allowed to leave the base. We naturally asked why, and were given no explanation. Since we were all stuck on the base, we spent most of the evening in the day room, where there were lounge chairs and a TV. Later that night, on the local evening news out of Tucson, there was a story about a UFO seen in the area. A large (at least the size of a football field), black, slow moving, triangular shaped object was spotted in the sky, very close to the base (SHOWING UP IN BROAD DAYLIGHT!)

A policeman took video of it on his dashcam, and followed it for MANY miles (north to northeast), to around the Scottsdale area, where it disappeared. This sighting had to have lasted a few hours due to the distance from where we were (southern Arizona), to the area where it disappeared (and it’s slow speed). I’ve looked online and never seen that video, or even clips of it.

So, even though it made the news, we saw the short video clip, no one ever spoke of it again. I would think that the policeman (or sheriff) that followed it would remember it, or the video would have somehow gotten leaked on YouTube considering how interesting it was! I’ve seen the video of the Phoenix lights, and this was NOT the same thing.

I’m baffled that a story like this would just disappear! Added note: Ft. Huachuca was testing drones at the time, so we were used to seeing test aircraft in the sky. The fact that they locked down the base leads me to believe it wasn’t ours!
