Witness Testimony

The witness submitted the following testimony, which is unedited and appears how it was submitted:

“I became interested in orbs after one showed up in a picture I took of my daughter on her 5th birthday. I began taking video at night (after kids in bed ) in our woods & saw a lot of activity. One night I was drawn to the river, so I sat down, began a video & saw this small light about 20 ft in front of me above the water.. as I went to stand up and began walking, it was suddenly right in front of me! It was tiny & the only way I can describe it, is ‘other dimensional’ it was almost like you couldn’t quite focus in on it & it was amazing. It was very playful, almost felt familiar? I was able to record it so I know i’m not crazy! I saw the same thing on several occasions. Probably 3-4xs each year for 2 years. Always in the late summer & fall I believe. I’ll attach a few videos. You can see it change colors & I put my hand around it to make sure it isn’t a cobweb reflecting the light from the camera. Whatever it was, it was definitelt INTELLIGENT as it was trying to communicate / interact with me in a playful manner. I came across Damien’s story on Australian Lights & thought ‘finally – this is pretty similar to what I’ve seen’… only his ars in the clouds and not so close like mine. I’ve never met or discovered anyone that had had this same experience & have been seeking information for a very long time now. The Analysis by Jim Kerr, TBV Investigations

I have a background in amateur astronomy, using a number of different types of telescopes and astronomical cameras. Since 1965 I have have had a passion for film photography, 8mm and 16mm motion picture film continuing to present day with professional DSLR cameras, lenses, and camcorders both consumer and pro engineering. I am experienced with lighting and the causes of lens flares that occur with different focal length and types of lenses. 

Since 2011 I have had an interest in the paranormal relating to orb sightings. In 2015, I assisted a MUFON investigator in New Jersey on several orb related cases he was working on. I provided him photos relating to strange blue orbs that had dots inside the orb. In reality the blue orbs were lens flares common to certain brands of cell phone cameras. 

While I have not spoken directly to the witness due to missed telephone calls and no response to questions from my last email, there is enough data in the witness videos and photos to resolve this case. 

The witness lives in the town of Alto, Michigan. Alto is an unincorporated community in Bowne Township, Kent County, in the U.S. state of Michigan. The terrain has forest areas, (wooded areas), sparsely located within the borders of Alto. The elevation is approx 1,072 feet above sea level. From any location within Alto it would be a short walk to any wooded area.

Celestial Objects Rendering a Significant Light Source

Searching Stallerium, (a planetarium software that shows exactly what you see when you look up at the stars), I was able to go back in the archives to view the night sky over Alto, MI on 11/15/2017 @ 1:00 am. There were no extremely bright celestial objects in the sky. The moon was a waning crescent that rose in the sky at 5:29 am and set at 5:18 pm.

Analysis of Video Footage

I downloaded both videos to my Sony Vegas video editing software for a detailed analysis of the footage. I was able to view sections of the video frame by frame, adjust lighting and contrast to bring out details in an effort to reveal the possible origin of the orbs.

In the video titled “Friendly Orb”, it is obvious in my analyzed video that the orb in reality is a reflective object attached to a spider web, a balled up clump of spider web or light reflection off the web itself. Other webs are also observed in the footage. The video was filmed in or near a wooded area with vegetation and home to spiders. The object was being illuminated by the video recording device light or flashlight. Reflective areas on a web is a common mistake made by individuals hunting for orbs. As the camera moves it will cause the reflective area to move as well making it appear as though there is a object / orb moving or floating in thin air. With the naked eye one may or may not see anything attached to the web.

The second video sent to TBV Investigations designated, (received_10155980884127518), is a edited shortened version of a video posted on the witnesses YouTube channel titled, (Friendly orb visiting I can actually SEE with my eyes). In my investigation I visited the witnesses YouTube channel to make sure TBV Investigations was receiving the complete unedited video of these events. With the video we received, important footage was missing that led me to identifying the source of this alleged orb. With out any doubt, in reality, the orb is a lens flare caused by a outdoor floodlight mounted on the eve of the building or house to the left of the video recording device. This can clearly be seen at time stamp 1:32 in the video posted to the witnesses YouTube channel. I downloaded the full video but there is no reason to analyze the footage in Sony Vegas. Also the YouTube download has tracking information on the screen for copyright purposes. Additionally, there is no way the witness could have seen this lens flare with the naked eye.

Conclusion

My intention in this investigation is not to upset the witness or anyone who hunts for orbs. I believe the witness is sincere and not attempting any deception. My conclusions are based on the video evidence along with years of experience operating cameras in various lighting conditions. Also observing lens flares and anomalies in my own videos, photographs and other peoples work. My hope is for those who view this investigation take the time to educate themselves on camera operation, what causes lens flares and other anomalies and the effects of lighting in a given situation. There is much information on this topic available on the internet.

In the first video the alleged orb is either a reflective object stuck on a spider web, a balled up clump of spider web or a reflection off the web itself caused by the light from the witnesses video recording device. The spider web can clearly be seen in my video analysis and the witnesses original footage. The second video the witness provided TBV Investigations is a edited version of her video, cropped and shortened in length. Upon further investigation I found the complete unedited version of the video on her YouTube channel. This unedited video showed the light source that caused the lens flare in both versions of the videos. It was the light source, (floodlight) that caused the lens flare.

Additionally, the witness reported the date of these sightings as 11/15/2017 1:00 am however, both her videos on her YouTube channel are dated 12/09/2016 and 10/19/2017 respectively. This fact would make the weather conditions in this investigation void. This fact does not affect the analysis or conclusions of this investigation as the video evidence speaks for itself. 

Based on the video evidence this investigation is solved.

Witness Testimony

“3 flying objects flying closely in a row from the southeast to the northwest at approximately 10:20pm. They all were a dull orange colored light making no noise at all and flying slowly. There were no flashing lights such as on a jet. They went directly over our home. About 30 to 40 seconds after passing overhead the first one started to flicker then disappeared. The same for the second one then the third one. The sky was clear as we can see all the stars in all directions. I did call my wife outside after the first one passed overhead so she wouldn’t think I was crazy. Hoping somebody else saw the same thing. Then the light flickered on the first and disappeared. The same for the second and then the same for the third. I called my wife outside so she could see them and wouldn’t think I’m crazy.”

The Analysis

I have made numerous attempts to contact witness Rich and received no response. With that said, along with the lack of video or photo evidence, I will attempt to provide my opinion of what the witnesses observed.

The witness lives in Palos Heights, IL which is a suburb of Chicago in Cook County. According to data compiled in Cheryl Costa’s book, (UFO Sightings Desk Reference, USA 2001-2015), Cook County reported 1,431 UFO sightings, (2001-2015), which are the highest in the state.

The witness stated he observed three dull orange colored lights flying in a row from S/E to N/W. He heard no sound from the slow-moving objects as they traveled directly overhead. Approx 30 to 40 seconds after passing overhead, the first one started to flicker then disappeared. Then the second one, then the third one flicker then disappeared.

I researched the date and time for meteor or fireball activity and found none. Based on the witness statement of the objects speed, meteors or fireballs can be ruled out. There are numerous airports in the surrounding area, however, the witness description is inconsistent with aircraft lighting. The witness stated the object was traveling S/E to N/W and according to wunderground the wind was traveling in the same direction. I can only speculate, but Chinese Lanterns could account for the lights the witness observed along with the lights flickering then extinguishing. The orange glow, flickering and lights or flame burning out at different intervals are consistent with Chinese Lanterns.

Weather Report for 05/08/2018 10:30 PM

The weather on the date and time of the sighting; 69 degrees, wind 7 mph SE, humidity 40%, zero precipitation, visibility 10 miles, and the skies were cloudy.

Possible Explanations

Conclusion

Based on the fact I was unable to interview the witness along with no video or photograph evidence case number 148816 is determined inconclusive due to lack of evidence.

“This was caught traveling on Highway 349 in Midland going 60mph on the way to our friends house. I held my phone out the passenger side window and recorded the dark sky out to the right of me. The end of this video I have no explanation for. I was of course attempting to catch one, whether they allowed me to in this video seems quite likely to me. The triangle has an arm attached that does a wave and then a circular craft follows it. I almost deleted this video- good thing I did not. This is not photoshopped at all. I have several other videos and photos as well that I would like to report and discuss. They have been sent into MUFON but something strange occurred and I was switched to a new investigator who does not believe me and does not want to help me. Please let me know if you can discuss this with me and my other photos or where I could contact someone that can. Taken on an iPhone X.”

The Evidence

The following video was submitted to TBV Investigations for analysis.  This version has been unedited.

The Analysis

The initial step was to add a brightness/contrast F/X to the video. The image was brightened, with the contrast staying about equal in value. Then, to confirm the findings a shadows/highlights, F/X was applied. These settings were adjusted in various ways, and the image became discernible. 

The filtered video is below. 

This is one of the easier videos to unravel because it IS so dark. There is data in every image, even if you can’t see it on the monitor or the screen. The method employed here was to simply import the video into Adobe Premiere and run some filters and adjustments.

Still image of the “UFO” is below showing that the object is inside the car, not outside the window:

Conclusion

The anomaly turns out to be the motion of the videographer moving their iPhone X from the window to their lap. The “triangle” turns out to be the negative space between the two fronts seats of a moving vehicle, with the front wind shield creating a triangular lighting effect. Objects can be seen out the wind shield as well, confirming the angle of view.

The following case was submitted to The Black Vault’s UFO reporting hotline. It was assigned to TBV Investigator Monica Salazar for investigation and analysis.

The Analysis

When I spoke to the witness on the phone she seemed completely baffled by what she had witnessed that night. To this day she still cannot believe it. The witness states that she saw a formation of lights in the sky that seemed to connect one giant object. In her own words, she described it as, “bigger than a few football fields.”

All in a straight formation headed out into the beach. She states that the lights lit up one by one in a very symmetrical way with the perfect distance between each other traveling at a low speed. Once the 5^th light lit up in view they all zoomed out at a drastic speed.

The witness was unable to capture any video or photographic evidence however she does state that her sister in law was there with her and she saw the incident as well, however was not able to capture any sort of photo or video evidence either.

During this UFO sighting, the Myrtle Beach Event Roundup, held from, July 7-18, 2018, took place. However, looking at the calendar of events, there does not appear to be any connection, at least none listed on the events page.

A month prior to this case, the U.S Army Golden Knights Parachute team parachuted down Myrtle Beach with Flares. If someone didn’t know about this event they could have easily been mistaken as UFOs since the parachute team was performing with flares that looked like orbs floating in the sky zooming in and out of each other. A video is below, though there does not appear to be any connection to this by the date.

The witness describes the orbs in a completely different way, though. Still as an investigator I wanted to add the Army light performance, to show how it could easily be mistaken.

Conclusion

I was able to communicate with the witness via phone and I can definitely tell she was so astonished by what she saw that she still can’t believe it. She did state that she is the “biggest skeptic in the world” and this incident has shed new light in her views on the subject of supernatural anomalies.

Of course it is difficult to have a good analysis without the proper evidence, and in this case without any sort of solid evidence it is challenging to decide whether or not this was an actual unidentified object or a case of mistaken identity with a plane or a natural “trick of the light.”

The one thing that for sure cannot be misread is the fact that the witness seemed completely thrown aback by the incident. In her own words she “had never seen something so massive.”

A witness testimony and, more often than not, emotion always play a part when trying to decide the fate of a case.

Since this case was lacking photographic and/or video evidence, and since the U.S. Army Knights Parachute Team was in the area just a month prior, I would classify as Unresolved/ Inconclusive due to lack of evidence.

The following case was submitted by Geoffrey Heyman on January 26, 2018, the day of his sighting. It was assigned to TBV Investigations’ researcher Monica Salazar for analysis.

Witness Testimony

The following was submitted by Mr. Heyman about his sighting:

“3 orb like lights seem like they were in a bubble Separating and seemed like they were going in an out of each other. No sound just brilliant light illumination. This was at 5:38 am on January 26th 2018 in the skies over Manchester, Maryland.”

The Analysis

I emailed the witness a few times, however I seldom received a response. I was finally able to speak to the witness via phone call. He was able to describe to me a little better what he saw that night and of course his idea of what it could have been. 

Geoffrey Heyman recalls seeing lights in the sky traveling about southeast to southwest at a relatively slow speed, and about 300ft to 400ft low to the ground, he describes it as “a plane about to land” kind of height and speed. Mr. Heyman also mentioned that an ex colleague of his saw a similar object from his home hovering just above a valley. 

Mr. Heyman describes the object as three orbs moving in and out of each other, he states he has never seen anything like this before. He remembers the objects having an orange and yellow sort of glow, however he remembers it was day break so the way he describes the objects as “almost transparent but you could see the outline, as if they were taking the color of the sky as the sun was coming up like camouflage”

There is no actual physical evidence for this sighting however Mr. Heyman did state he rushed inside his home to grab his phone and possibly take a picture of the object however when he returned the glowing lights were gone. 

Conclusion

I found the witness to be a very credible witness with knowledge of typical and familiar commercial aircraft. I am positive you could tell if the object could have been a plane or not. Objects like these have been seen in the areas of Maryland quite often. I was able to visit the “National UFO Reporting Center State Report Index for MD” http://www.nuforc.org/webreports/ndxlMD.html 

In this site there have been several similar “Lights” reported in the area. In fact just a day prior to Mr. Haymans report, just one hour southwest in Frederick MD there was a very similar report of “… a bright orange light reflecting off the windows.”

Now I can’t really say this was definitely a UFO however with other people in the general area reporting the same mysterious lights hovering it makes you wonder if in fact there is something of interest in Maryland. 

For the sake of this report and because of lack of physical evidence I would conclude this as undetermined due to lack of sufficient evidence.

Witness Testimony

The following was submitted to TBV Investigations in the initial report:

“I observed a randomly flashing light that moved from the north in a southerly direction at various speeds, but generally slow. It appeared to almost hover at times and would also appear make slight changes in direction. The light light would flash with a bright silver slow pulse which was then followed by a quick much dimmer blink. Both were very random. It was visible for approximately 20 minutes and appeared change its general direction and moved in a more eastern direction and lights slowly became dimmer before disappearing. I also observed a similar object at approximately the same time the previous night at my residence and it appeared to behave nearly the same.”

The Investigation

On 03-29-2018 I interviewed witness Jimmy Fugitt and he related his observations of what he referred to as a strange craft flying in erratic directions with random flashing lights. The object appeared to almost hover at times and would also appear make slight changes in direction. He also stated he observed the same object the night before at the same approx time. His description of the object did not differ from his original written statement submitted to The Black Vault.

This was a nighttime sighting which occurred on 03/23/2018 11:30 PM, not a daytime sighting as the original date and time indicates. He further stated he did not believe this object to be an alien craft but possibly an advanced military craft. 

There are three airports within 20 miles of Greenup , KY. The weather was clear with good visibility with temperatures from 24 to 53 degrees. 

1. Ashland-Boyd County Airport 

Location: Ashland, KY
Greenup County 4.23 miles

2. Tri-State Airport/Milton J. Ferguson Field 

Location: Huntington, WV
Wayne County 19.82 miles

On 03/23/2018 11:30 PM witness Jimmy Fugitt observed what he believed to be a strange craft flying in erratic directions with random flashing lights. The object appeared to almost hover at times and would also appear make slight changes in direction.

As an amateur astronomer I spend many nights observing the sky. In addition to celestial objects, I have observed countless aircraft, their flight patterns and marker lights. I also have tracked and observed satellites, the ISS and meteor showers . At night the human eye can play tricks with ones observations and perceptions. Aircraft marker lights can appear to flash in random pattern, dance around in erratic directions and even appear to hover. It is not uncommon to mistake a conventional aircraft classifying it as an unidentified flying object. 

Conclusion

Based on the witness description and my own observations, I believe the witness observed an aircraft in flight. However this case lacks sufficient evidence to make a solid conclusion.

Witness Testimony

The following was submitted to TBV Investigations in the initial report:

“My husband Lance and I both saw the UFO at the same time. It was at dusk around 6:05 PM but still light, and the sky was blue. We were standing on our back deck looking at birds on our lake. We had our binoculars in hand. I saw this bright shiny thing in the sky. At first we thought it was a plane, then we realized it wasn’t. It was round like a moon hovering in the sky and very bright, like a mirror reflecting light. As we watched it, it divided in half, a vertical line that divided the circle in half. You could see the sky between the two halves. The halves stayed side by side and continued to hover for about a minute or two. Then it just vanished. About 10 seconds later it reappeared still divided but this time it was moving southward, then it vanished again. It’s hard to say how far away it was, but you could see it well with the naked eye and even better with the binoculars. It would have been hard to get a good picture of it without zoom lenses.”

Witness Interview

On 03-27-2018 at 1:10 pm PST I conducted a telephone interview with witnesses Tina and Lance. A little over a month has passed since their sighting and their description of the incident closely matches their original written statement submitted to TBV investigations. Both witnesses seemed credible, sincere and neither formed an opinion as to what this object was.

On 02-23-2018 at approx 6:00 pm, witnesses Tina and Lance related to me they were standing on the rear deck of their house which overlooks a small lake behind their property. The sky was clear with no cloud cover, the sun had set but was still light with good visibility. It is common practice for witnesses to bird watch from their deck using binoculars. Both witnesses observed a round illuminated stationary object in the western sky at approx 30 degrees above the western horizon. This initial sighting lasted for approx two minutes. Both witnesses stated the object first appeared to be the light from an aircraft but then determined the object was stationary and was not a aircraft. The object was brightly illuminated with a mirror like appearance. Witness Tina related, with her naked eye, the object was the size of a 50 cent piece held at arms length. Witness Lance related, with his naked eye, the object was the size of a dime held at arms length. During this first observation, approx one minute into the sighting, the object split vertically into two equal half’s, slightly separated, and blue sky could be seen behind the vertical split. Viewing the object through binoculars both witnesses related the edge around both split half’s of the object was blurry and not sharply defined. After viewing the object for approx two minutes it began to move slowly in a southerly direction for a short distance while maintaining the same altitude then suddenly vanished. The object did not travel out of sight but vanished from view. 

Approx 30 seconds after the initial sighting, both witnesses related the object reappeared southwest of it’s original location at approx 30 degrees above the horizon. The object was moving very slowly in a southerly direction for approx 30 seconds then suddenly vanished.

The Analysis

With the lack of video or photo evidence, I will attempt to identify what the witnesses observed based on the following facts along with witness statements.

Checking the website “Weather Underground” weather for this date and location at 5:55 pm, the temperature was 70 degrees , dew point 59 degrees, average humidity 68%, precipitation 0.00, wind speed 0 mph and visibility 10 miles with scattered cloud cover. Based on this weather report the witnesses had a relativity clear but very lightly obstructed view of the sky due to scattered clouds. Evaluating witness statements, I don’t believe the scattered clouds hindered their observations of the object. 

Researching Stellarium for know celestial objects on 02-23-2018 @ 6:00 pm, the planet Venus was visible at approx 30 degrees above the western horizon. Venus would have appeared bright in the sky, approx 2 millimeters in size at arms length but not the size of a 50 cent piece or dime as described by the witnesses. Additionally, Venus’s only movement would be setting in the west same as the sun. Based on witness statements Venus can be ruled out as the object they observed. 

Airports near Asheboro, NC. Based on the number of airports located near the witnesses location they most likely have observable air traffic. Even at sunset aircraft landing lights can still be quite bright and at times appear stationary in the sky for several seconds, especially if the aircraft is traveling directly toward the observer. Many aircraft have dual landing lights. When approaching closer to an observer, dual landing lights could account for an object appearing to dividing vertically in two as both landing lights come into view. Turning off landing lights could account for an object appear to vanish. Could the witnesses have seen the landing lights of an approaching aircraft then 30 seconds later seen a second approaching aircraft? Based on the witness statements they are positive the object was not an aircraft. However, if the object was in fact aircraft landing lights pointed in their direction and the aircraft turned in a southerly direction, this could explain this sighting.

Again, with no video or photo evidence I can only theorize to the identity of the object.

Conclusion

According to the witnesses this was a strange unexplained sighting and unfortunately no video or photo evidence was captured. With the lack of physical evidence I could only theorize as to the identity of this object.

Case is unidentified, but lacks sufficient evidence to make a conclusion.

The video was run through Adobe Premiere, wherein I checked for verification of a solid, real object in inverted mode, and with levels and contrast adjustments.

The object can be seen coming across the sky, touching the edge of the Flying J sign, and then reappearing moments later on the other side.

The witness was contacted, but no further reply was received. There is a regional airport in the exact direction of the sighting, however, no flight records could be cross reference at the time of this report.  The map of this location, with the approximate witness location, is marked:

I matched the Google Street View location, where the witness was approximately standing:

The same directional orientation is maintained with the following image, displaying the location of the nearby airport. Although the object does not appear from be going to the airport, it could be an indicator of the source of where this craft came from, or will eventually end up. 

It is also possible that the object is a satellite, however, an EXACT match was not possible to match up, since the witness supplied very little information. 

The object goes in and out of focus several times, and seems to disappear at the end of the video after going well out of focus by the camera.  

One concern is that the object seems to disappear all at once, rather than by degrees, before it goes behind the gas station sign.  This could be due to a frame rate issue of the cell phone camera or compression artifact when the video was exported, and the frames indicating the gradual disappearance behind the sign were dropped, therefore displaying as an immediate disappearance rather than a gradual one. 

Conclusion

The sighting is most likely air traffic, with the aircraft going out of focus or behind clouds at the end of the video. Without more testimony from the eyewitness the case must remain unknown. The aircraft shows no other signs of aberrant behavior while it is observed.

A video was submitted showing several objects swirling around an exterior security camera.

The witness stated in their original submission, “This thing or object makes a U-Turn in the Sky, then descents thru the clouds!”

This can be inferred from the video, but is more speculation than what the video shows. The object appears to rise, than come back down. Not enough contrast in the video makes it impossible to discern the nature of the object. The witness was contacted and asked for additional footage of the same camera views during daylight to determine what structures are in that direction.

To date, there has been no response or communication from the witness, and the object remains unidentified, but lacks sufficient evidence or any follow up from the witness.

Conclusion

As seen in the video, the object is little more than a white dot that rises, and makes a turn in the sky.

In still 6 the object seems to appear again at the bottom of the frame, at the very end of the video.

The quality of the video has been enhanced as much as possible, but the terrain, the object, and the sky cannot be discerned definitively. At this time the object is not identifiable, but likely not anything out of the ordinary, until further evidence (or testimony) is presented.

I was able to communicate with the witness via email multiple times she was very cooperative when requesting additional info. 

This video was filmed using a cell phone with MP4 1080p capabilities with an average Bitrate of 13.1Mbps and as per the witness; it is at “max zoom” at x10. 

The video was analyzed frame by frame and at slower speeds through windows video editor and Android video shop; however, the video is pretty shaky and grainy making it challenging to examine. 

There were no audible sounds apart from the witness speaking and after speaking with the witness, she did add that the object appeared to be traveling upwards.

In one of the frames about 00:01 sec in to the video, you can see the object the clearest seems like circular shape almost doughnut like. Here is a screen shot:

Conclusion

After carefully examining the video and speaking to the witness, I would conclude there is simply not enough tangible evidence to deem this case solved.

The video is not very stable and since it is zoomed all the way, it is a bit difficult to determine what the object really is. Close by to where this video was taken there is a NASA Airport test facility, and even though there were no test flights at the time of the video (that I could find) it could very well be a NASA drone. 

In brief, I determine this to be “Unidentified, Insufficient Evidence” as there is simply not enough evidence plus the fact that the NASA test facility is close by makes it difficult to determine if it indeed is something unidentified. Overall, despite the video being difficult to analyze, the case is quite compelling and definitely worthy of a conversation.

It will remain archived here in hopes another witness may come forward.

Video was run through Adobe Premiere to enlarge the object, and run filters.

Adjusted with INVERT and noticed a shadowy shape in front of and behind the object at 0:16:20 and :21, Object appears solid.

Adjusted with AUTO CONTRAST, adjusting the levels to Black Clip, 10%, and White clip .99%.

Found a lip, such as a roof soffit or gutter in the foreground which the unknown passes IN FRONT OF.

There are also artifacts at 0.:17:14 when the object is supposed to “disappear.”

Conclusion

Preliminary conclusion is that this is a water droplet, or snowflake, as it does appear to be snowing, which is passing over the lens of the camera.

The artifact is likely where the droplet crosses across oil or dirt on the lens.

Another indicator it is likely water is the shape changing of the blob frame by frame. The most likely conclusion is that the object is moisture on the lens of the camera.

“I was on my way to work, I was traveling east on rt 5 just entering Scotia, I saw at least 3 red lights atop one another in the sky, i thought maybe a satellite, but i thought it was too close, I pulled over to try to get it on my cell phone, because it was moving away and dark my phone didn’t really capture the image. I got back in my car and about 20 seconds further down the road I saw something light up in the sky. It looked like a big scoreboard all lit up and moving towards me. I pulled over and started to get a video. The size was big and lights all over, the shape was something I’ve never seen before. It glided right past me!!!! No noise from the craft at all. The design of it has me at a loss for words and I’m anxious to know what the hell was it! No military or airplane that is for sure! I reviewed my video and I believe because of the lights it doesn’t show what I exactly saw but I do have video. I’m trying to draw what I saw. I really need to speak to someone who can help me get a grip on this and go further into detail about this ship that I saw. I know it was below radar because it was that close! When I watch the video I hear strange sounds that I don’t know what made them. The only sound made was a few cars passing by and at time of sighting i did not hear anything at all.”

I spoke with the witness multiple times via phone, text, and email. I’ve analyzed the video at slower speeds and frame by frame. There are 4 objects visible in the video. The moon, an aircraft identifiable by its flashing/blinking navigation/collision lights, a tree in the right side of the video, and what I suspect to be lights from a home, or building in the distance of bottom of video.

This was later confirmed after receiving a daytime photo of the sighting location. The noise in the video not audible to the witness while shooting is most likely interference from the high voltage power lines seen in the daytime photo producing EMFs, Electro-magnetic frequencies.

The object in her sketch doesn’t resemble anything I’m familiar with, nor any typically reported object I’m aware of.

Conclusion

I found the witness to be a very credible witness with knowledge of typical civilian and military aircraft.  When only taking the video into consideration, it is very likely the object is an aircraft, or a drone, as the blinking lights, and the colors of them (seemingly alternating white and red) are indicative of an aircraft or drone.  However, her testimony and firsthand account of the object’s description, coupled with her knowledge about civilian and military aircraft, adds a different element to the case. 

Although her video does not contain evidence of the object she describes or sketches, I believe that she saw something she couldn’t identify.

Therefore, I feel I will label this case unexplained, with the caveat that it does lack sufficient evidence (a stabilized video with more detail) to properly identify the object, or to confirm it is truly an “unknown.” 

The witness stated additional, uncompressed videos, are being sent. To date, they have not been received.

The image is taken from inside a lit aircraft, traveling at sunset. There are reflections in the window in the same general area as the objects of interest. After looking over aircraft window schematics, the likely reason for the lights in the sky is a double reflection from the dual pane windows. The lights are likely overhead lights from the airplane interior.

When zooming in the four dots are actually only two, repeated in the second pane of acrylic. The angle is consistent with lights that would be above the witness’ head. 

Conclusion

While other explanations are possible, the reflectivity of the windows is the most likely culprit in this situation.  It is noted that the witness believed no other lights were on in the cabin, but since they did not notice the lights when taking the photograph, they may have just as easily missed reading lights on from across the aisle. It should also be noted, depending on the direction of the camera, the lights in relation to the witness’ seat, etc., the lights could be on in a dark aircraft at a distance not noticeable to the witness, but were reflected in the window and captured on camera.

The following also illustrates where other likely reflection from inside the cabin reside.

Witness Testimony

I have seen a few things in my 57 years for sure. The problem with UFOs is your left at your witts end guessing at what you may have looked upon, then of course doubting if you should discuss it with others.

I believe what I saw was USAF experimental some new design concept craft.  What I witnessed the night I called Black Vaults line;

The aircraft was traveling due northbound from my right. I was traveling due east on I-20, approaching Tye TX, (suburb of Abelene, TX) at 68 mph in my rig Dupre Truck 8307, trailer 67018 returning from delivering a load of chemicals to Ace Services in Odessa TX, near Midland TX.

The craft I spotted was at approx 1000-1300 ft. It looked in size that of a Gulfstream 4. Not a big commercial jet or a smaller Learjet. It had three circle lights on its underside, pure white and the normal aircraft blinking beacons. *my reasoning here is alien aircraft would not need these lights for aircraft IDs as human piloted aircraft being our aircraft require them whether civilian or military*.

The aircraft was indistinguishable in shape as it started passing over I-20 but I did not recognize normal shapes such as an aileron, wings, fuselage etc. It traveled due north over I-20, I am guess 1/4 to 1/2 mile in front of me. It went about 1 mile north and turned sharp 90 degrees to the east, the same direction I was traveling. I assumed at that time it was going to land in that area. About two miles east it turn 90 degrees again taking a due south path remaining at the same altitude. I was almost intercepting it at that tine traveling almost underneath it heading east. This was about a half mile before the Tye, TX exit with the Flying J truck stop. As it passed over I got a good visual of its bottom side. It was definitely triangle in shape. Rounded corners at all three points. The white circular lights inside each corner perfectly centered in each corner. Its strobes were still blinking. It had a bit of a soft diffused haze or glow around the craft which could have been attributed to dust or fog at that altitude although it was clear elsewhere overhead. The triangle craft passed over I-20 and continued south I am guesstimating two miles. I had taken the exit ramp at that time to Tye TX. I saw it at that time make a slight flash a disappear as if it launched due south almost faster than your eyes could record.

The color was grey, or possibly a titanium type color but the glow and light from the three circles made it appeared medium to lite grey. It had no visible N-number or aircraft ID markings or insignia on it. I did not see any widows, portals, landing gear, air control surfaces such as wings, ailerons, tail nor did it have a fuselage. It made zero noise, none. And it never banked like an aircraft with wings during its two 90 degree direction changes.

Other facts: I did not see any beams of light shoot down under it or cattle getting sucked up into it. I did not loose time nor did my radio go static or my truck battery dead. I did not disappear and reappear 3500 miles away naked at a convenient store. I just stopped a minute, called your hotline as it appeared first on my smartphone Google and I thought the name Black Vault sounded interesting. I then traveled on to my fuel stop for the night at the next Love’s truck stop.

I am releasing this info to Black Vault as a witness statement of a UFO with my summary opinion that it is a USAF vehicle of experimental type, and as of now may be listed as Classified by DoD status.

I’ve been in contact with Ken and I’m in the process of locating the local law enforcement agency, because I wanted to check and see if they had any reports in the area that Ken is referring to. And, if so, I would like to find out how many reports were received.

UFOs are a subject that has re-emerged numerous times and the availability of video has proven itself the “seeing is believing” momentum although the ability to forge fakes has also paralled real footage.

There is far more to it than disclosed, but the fact we are still infants to solar exploration and interstellar travel I believe makes us the “hostile ape petting zoo” of the advanced species that have been observing earth since we were primordial soup.

We are severely lacking compared to what we occasionally witness. And EBE are not human, do not think like us or share our limited perspectives.

Good luck investigating. Be careful. More than one government wants the lid sealed tight in UFO s, EBE and their technology.

Case Update from Investigator Richard Kidd – 03/11/2018 3:34 pm

I have been in contact with the Tye, TX. Police Dept. and I’m currently waiting for any reports that were filed regarding any sightings. I am also contacting the Abelene, TX. Police Dept. and the TX. State Police Dept. for any information regarding any sightings from the period of 2/12/18 thru 2/16/18 the reasoning behind contacting the Abelene, Police Dept. is that Tye TX. is a suburb of Abelene and is within the flight path of the craft that Mr. McLaren reported.. Also, by contacting the Texas State Police, any additional sightings would have been reported to them.

I am making certain that I am contacting the Law Enforcement agencies in and around the sighting area as well as the Texas State Police,  in this case and that I will receive sighting confirmation of what Mr. McLaren has reported he witnessed. It is not unusual for there not to be any other witnesses or, other persons to have reported a sighting. 

Case Update from Investigator Richard Kidd – 03/15/2018 2:21pm

Followed up with the Texas State Police and was informed that there have not been any reports of strange aircraft sightings in the area of Tye, Texas or the Abelene, Texas area between the dates of 02/12/2018 and 02/16/2018.

Although there haven’t been any reported sightings by any of the Law Enforcement agencies, doesn’t mean that there were no other sightings in the reported area. This could simply mean that other persons ( if there were any ) did not report what they may have seen. In the case of Ken McLaren’s sighting, nothing can be proven or disproven.

Follow up emails with Mr. McLaren hasn’t yielded any other reports of sightings and TBV Investigations will monitor the reported sighting area for future sightings or events as they transpire.

Conclusion

Mr. McLaren’s sighting off of I-20 on February 15^th 2018 and the description of what he witnessed, had not been reported to any Law Enforcement agency in Texas by any other witness.

After calling the Tye, Texas Police Dept and the State Troopers office in Abelene, they could not verify that anyone else had reported anything unusual in the sky on the evening of the February 15th, 2018.  

With the lack of additional physical or photographic evidence, and the lack of corroborating witness testimony (for now) this case is being labeled Unidentified, Lacks Sufficient Evidence for Proper Identification.

After conducting a series of thorough photo forensic methods, a number of discrepancies were found in the photographs submitted by the witness.

We list only a few of the examples, though more can be found in the metadata using sophisticated photography software. These examples are sufficient to support our conclusion, and we feel that adding even more additional (and technical) evidence would only assist future digital manipulation of a “UFO” photograph.

Problem #1

The 3-shot burst mode is not indicated in the time stamp nor the metadata which indicates each shot was separated by a few seconds and not fractions of a second as would be the case in burst mode.

It is noted that when the witness was asked about this, they submitted the following, and changed the original submission:

“Yep you are right in that they possibly weren’t the pictures I snapped in the burst, I have always assumed they were as I was going from memory out shooting. They were certainly part of the same group of images which I had shot in the burst, however they may have been just straight shots as well.”

Problem #2

The changing position of the moon in the photographs indicates that the camera was being held or pointed in different directions on a tripod. The witness confirmed in follow-up communications that the camera was being held.

When comparing all three images pixel for pixel, the moon in each image is identical.

With a change of position of the camera, the moon should have slight variations in each photograph. The fact that it does not suggests that the images were digitally modified, copying the same image of the moon into all three photographs.

Problem #3

Camera sensors create a high frequency noise pattern over an entire image.

In this photograph the moon and sky have this pattern, but the dot does not.

The fact that the dot does not have this pattern suggests that it was digitally inserted into the image.

Problem #4

Through investigation, the witness was found on Facebook using only publicly available information. Recent (public) posts include one of his own Photoshop works with a hidden “easter egg” that he inserted, wherein he invites his friends to attempt to find it.

Other posts highlight his Photoshop skills, along with his web  and graphics design career.

It is for this (and other) reasons we decided to strip the name of the “witness” off this report, and post it as Anonymous.

Conclusion

These photographs do not stand up to digital scrutiny and therefore must be labeled fraudulent.

There is additional information which TBV Investigations has left off this report.  We feel the above information is more than enough to support this conclusion, and we do not aim to enhance digital manipulation techniques.

TBV Investigations Final Response

In addition to the above statement, the witness submitted a video.  We assume by their description, they did not want it shared publicly, so we respect that and have not published it. However, we are going to respond, and ultimately leave it for all of the readers of this case to decide.

The following is from a third party consultant to TBV Investigations. Their ability for image analysis is highly credible.  We have withheld their identity (unless they give us permission later) to thwart future hoax submissions on who we call upon for help.  Their information below is very detailed, and can speak for itself.  Also, the analyst below did view the video (per the witnesses request to show to our analysts). The time codes referenced are irrelevant since the original response video by the witness is not show, but the analysis is self explanatory.

Regarding his video:
1. At 2:40, he correctly interprets the ELA result as being uniform. However, he draws an incorrect conclusion at 2:40 when he says that a resave would have removed the white noise. The white noise only gets removed if the picture is a low quality. His picture, as I previously noted, does not appear to be low quality.

2. At 5:15, he shows his camera roll.
This does not identify the pictures as being original — only that he has them in the same directory.

There’s also something interesting:
At 5:25, the camera roll shows many moon pictures: 6440-6448, but we only have 6440-6442.
Picture 6444, 6445, 6446, and 6447 were visibly altered:
6444 was cropped to a square (his canon doesn’t do that), recolored to a teal, and strong vignetting was added. 4665 had different color alterations. Similarly, 6446, 6447, and 6448 were all visibly altered. And this is easy to see from the thumbnail images.

This means that the known moon pictures (6440-6442) are sitting in a directory next to other pictures that were definitely altered.

3. At 5:38: Viewing metadata from Windows Properties literally proves nothing. In particular, Windows metadata viewer displays fields that do not exist in the file, and omits fields that do exist. See: http://www.hackerfactor.com/blog/index.php?%2Farchives%2F712-Metadata-Tools-of-the-Trade.html 

By the same means, at 6:35, he claims that the Microsoft property tab for “Previous Versions” says it was never resaved. However, that only applies to using Microsoft to edit pictures and retain revisioning. Again, it literally proves nothing.

4. At 6:55, he zooms in to show no photo manipulation. But again, this proves nothing.

5. At 7:20, he shows that the Microsoft properties for the created and modified dates match his claim and have not been edited. However, this just shows the metadata fields. (And it is my claim that the metadata was replaced.)

Now, let’s compare his counter-argument with my original findings:

Finding #1: Burst mode — alright, he admits he was wrong. We can look past this part.

Finding #2: The pictures show the same moon at the exact same orientation relative to the camera. Yet, the moon’s position changed relative to the camera. So he somehow managed to change the angle of the view of the moon, repositioning the moon in the frame, and still kept the exact same moon orientation.

This is a fun experiment to try at home: Hold the camera and take 3 pictures of a distant object — each 3 seconds apart. Then align the pictures on the object. The orientation should change. A very small object (only a few pixels in the frame) may appear to keep the orientation. A very large object, like the moon taking up 20% of the frame, should change orientation a little. Even though it is only a little different, this should be a visible difference when you overlay the two pictures and view the difference.

Then try the same experiment using a tripod — be sure the move the camera on the tripod a little so the object is not in the same relative location between frames. Again, it will change orientation.

And yet, he someone managed to take 3 pictures that all have the moon with the exact same orientation.

– There is blue sky that exists in 6442 and not 6440 — visible due to aligning the moons.
– The UFO stands out because it doesn’t exist in 6442.
– There’s a tiny fraction of misalignment along one edge of the moon — likely due to scaling.
However, if the moon were rotated even one degree, then we should start seeing that reddish difference edge over most of the moon’s edge and most of the moon’s high-contrast features. We’re just not seeing that.

Even more interesting: Save the difference picture, bring it up in Gimp or Photoshop, and apply a histogram equalization to it. If you apply a histogram equalization to the difference picture, then you can see (1) moon features stand out along JPEG compression differences (expected), and (2) there is a dark swath through the moon that goes through both pictures. That dark swath should be a lighting artifact (like a lens flare), but it is in the same place in both pictures, even though the camera “moved” relative to the moon.

There’s one other thing that bothers me (and makes me chuckle):
In 6440, there is no motion blur. So the object is traveling slower than the shutter speed.
A few seconds later, in 6441, it is gone. So a UFO flew into view, sat still for a photo, and then vanished. In order to vanish, it would have to travel more than half the width of the frame in 3 seconds. Assuming it is far away and not in front of the lens, that would require a very fast speed.

Now, I’m not claiming that a real extra terrestrial UFO couldn’t travel really fast, but this seems like an amazing coincidence that he photographed it at the brief moment that it came to a stop.

Or maybe cloaking? Again — amazing coincidence that he photographed it right at the moment when it was about to put up the cloak.

Of course, if it were a blur from an insect that this close the the camera, then that would explain the really fast relative movement.

Witness Testimony

My friends and I were outside playing in my front yard. It was dark, around 9pm. It was 3 friends of mine and myself. We were outside wrestling and cutting up. We looked up above us and there it was.

A huge triangular shaped craft hovering right over us above the tree line. This craft made absolutely no sound at all. There was a light on each corner and I think there was one in the center. It hovered perfectly still. Never made a sound. The craft was black and the lights were red. I recall staring at it for several minutes.

It was watching us. I know it was. I remember April started to run inside and get her parents. As soon as she started running, the craft just kinda made a 90 degree turn and slowly hovered into the woods. Never making a sound. It was absolutely amazing. I felt like I had some sort of connection. I never got scared. Never saw it again.

I have a part 2 lol. In those same woods, about 5 years earlier, my grandpa an I walked those woods all the time. You would go through woods then it opened up into huge fields of dead grass. One particular day, pawpaw and I saw crop circles in the dead grass. They were not huge like you see on tv, but they were big.

I don’t remember the shapes. My grandpa didn’t know what to make of it. The crazy part is that I KNEW WHAT THEY WERE!! I was only like 5 or 6 lol. There was no question in my mind. Thank you so very much for taking time to read this. I look into the sky every single night, hoping to see it one last time. Best wishes to you and please be safe!!

When asked in follow up e-mails to identify the type of craft that was seen, the witness commented this looked very similar to what they had seen:

The witness added:

“It was hovering very low but it was so black that it almost blended in with the night. I remember a light on each corner and a light In the center. It made absolutely no sound at all. It was huge. I know in my heart that this was no “secret military craft.” This was not man made and whoever it was flying it, were watching us and they didn’t want anyone else to see it.

It hovered off into the woods where three or four years prior, my grandpa and I saw crop circles in a field of tall dead grass. They weren’t big like you see on TV but no man made them. I can’t remember the shapes of them. The crazy part is, at the age of 5 years old, I knew what they were. I probably shouldn’t have, but I did. I saw the triangle back in either 90 or 91. Augusta, Ga. It was probably around 9pm. It was like it just appeared.

We looked up and there it was. I know this sounds crazy, but I swear I had a connection with this craft. I wasn’t scared, I chased after it. I didn’t want it to leave. I really appreciate you contacting me about this. It means a lot. Any advice you have or opinions is greatly appreciated and thank you for what you are doing. Please keep in contact.”

Large circular object. No rotation of object noted.

Moving very slowly at perhaps 10 mph.

Grayish in color with large highly illuminated enclosed circular deck on bottom of craft.

One other witness who has since died.

Sighting lasted about 2 minutes at best.

Witness Testimony

This happened when I was about nine or ten. My mother took my brother and myself to San Francisco from Mill Valley to do some shopping at the Army base. My brother and I decided we wanted to stay in the car. In those days the cars had large wide back windows so being bored I decided to roll down the back window and stretch out in the back window shelf and lay my head on the window sill and look up at the sky and the clouds.

I was kind of a day dreamer in those days. While looking up I noticed three white dots. They were just sitting there doing nothing. They were way up in the sky. As I watched them they moved in a circle around each other then disappeared. In those days I knew nothing about aliens or weather balloons or space ships.

After they left I forgot all about them until years later when watching a special on TV about the same thing at which time I was in my 20’s.

The second time I witnessed something was about 1978.

I was on highway 395 in Nevada driving North from Topaz Lake It was about 4 pm about eight miles north from the lake. This was a long stretch of two lane road at the time. I could see for about a mile down the road. As I was looking down the road about a half mile ahead a large ball of light, about twenty feet in diameter shot across the highway from west to east.

When I got to where I could stop and look where the light was there was nothing. Ill never forget it.

The following case was submitted to The Black Vault / TBV Investigations on December 18, 2017.  

Witness Testimony

“Saw triangle shape with lights around the edges floating across the sky in the direction of Reagan airport.

The craft was as large as a football field and just floated silently across the sky.

I must admit that I was using my night vision goggles which is why no one else seemed to be disturbed or seemed to say or notice anything. Now I know there are giant flying triangles and what they are I have no idea.

One more note is that this was during the nuclear summit at the Pentagon.”

The Analysis

Based on the witness description, the event took place on March 15, 2016, and stated this was during the “nuclear summit” at the Pentagon.  However, the summit did not actually begin until March 31st (2 weeks later) and ended on April 1, 2016.

(Please note: we do not believe this error was submitted to us maliciously and is only noted due to the information and possible identity of the UFO below)

Upon investigation, it’s possible that aerial surveillance drones or other aircraft were patrolling the area prior to the summit, which could account for an increase in air traffic and therefore may account for the UFO seen on night vision.

Though a triangular shaped drone or surveillance aircraft does seem unlikely, it’s possible that through the use of night vision goggles — the object may have one shape, but appear on night vision as another, given the right circumstances. 

Given the location of the UFO, according to the witness, was in the direction of Reagan airport, it is possible this is simply a commercial aircraft, as well.  

Without an exact time stamp, it would be impossible to round down a potential flight number that could account for the craft seen through the night vision goggles.

Conclusion

Without further evidence, in the form of a photograph or video (or exact time), it is hard to determine the actual identity of the UFO.

The following case was submitted to The Black Vault / TBV Investigations. However, after numerous attempts by team member Rob Mercer to contact the witness by phone and email, they did not return any messages.

We decided to archive the case, in hopes the witness may reach out in the future, or corroborating testimony can be discovered.

Witness Testimony

The following was submitted by the witness (unedited):

I joined the Air Force in February, 1996. After basic training, I was sent to Ft. Huachuca, Arizona (an Army base) for more training. I don’t know the exact day, but it had to be between May 15, 1996-July, 1996 (the length of time I was stationed there).

We had just finished our training for the day, which was around 3:00 pm, and were in formation for our usual daily update. One particular day, we were told that the base was on lockdown.

No one was allowed to leave the base. We naturally asked why, and were given no explanation. Since we were all stuck on the base, we spent most of the evening in the day room, where there were lounge chairs and a TV. Later that night, on the local evening news out of Tucson, there was a story about a UFO seen in the area. A large (at least the size of a football field), black, slow moving, triangular shaped object was spotted in the sky, very close to the base (SHOWING UP IN BROAD DAYLIGHT!)

A policeman took video of it on his dashcam, and followed it for MANY miles (north to northeast), to around the Scottsdale area, where it disappeared. This sighting had to have lasted a few hours due to the distance from where we were (southern Arizona), to the area where it disappeared (and it’s slow speed). I’ve looked online and never seen that video, or even clips of it.

So, even though it made the news, we saw the short video clip, no one ever spoke of it again. I would think that the policeman (or sheriff) that followed it would remember it, or the video would have somehow gotten leaked on YouTube considering how interesting it was! I’ve seen the video of the Phoenix lights, and this was NOT the same thing.

I’m baffled that a story like this would just disappear! Added note: Ft. Huachuca was testing drones at the time, so we were used to seeing test aircraft in the sky. The fact that they locked down the base leads me to believe it wasn’t ours!

“While viewing Orion I sighted and photographed 3 objects moving together.  8” Meade with Zwo cameras linke to Surface Pro laptop. Captured three objects. “

The Analysis

I spoke with the witness by telephone regarding his sighting report, he stated that while looking through the camera he noticed the three objects moving together and began taking photos. Between 5:49:06 and 5:49:48pm PST he captured 14 images, which he submitted.

By the time I contacted the witness, he had already done research on his own and discovered the Amazonas 3 satellite was passing in the same area at the time.

Though the three objects appear to move together as one, it is apparent that they are not one solid object. Stars can be seen between them as they move.

A search of the Stellarium database showed three satellites (Amazonas 3, Echostar 18, and Echostar 16) moving through the same area and direction of the sky at that time.

Corresponding Cases

No other reports of this event were found.

Conclusion

It is my belief that what the witness saw and captured in photos, were most likely the three mentioned satellites moving together.

The following report came in to The Black Vault / TBV Investigations on December 17, 2017. It was assigned to TBV Investigations team member Michael Kelly for investigation.

Witness Testimony

“I was driving West on I-90 at 75 MPH somewhere West of Mitchell, SD. The sky was clear and the moon almost full. About a mile ahead off to the right, I spotted 3 radio towers and began scrutinizing them waiting for the flashing red light required to alert small aircraft of their presence. After a few seconds (5 or less) I noticed a sudden bright yellowish light strobe on and off quickly (1/10 of a second duration or less; probably hundredths of a second). I quickly realized that it was not directly on top of the towers, but closer to me than were the towers.

I wondered why I didn’t see a red pulsating light, but rather this strobing topaz light. About 3 seconds after the first “flash”, it strobed again but was much closer, moving almost exactly opposite the direction I was travelling, but slightly angled towards the highway. About 3 seconds later, it flashed again. I very briefly looked at the highway to ensure I was pointed well in my lane then looked directly to my right through the passenger window of the full-size pick-up truck I was driving hoping that I would see it one more time before I passed it.

It flashed one more time with a light of incredibly intensity with “crystals” of brilliant light that were gem-like; topaz in color and luminosity on the bottom. The light on the top was also of a crystalline structure and brilliance, but was pure white. The white light was only the upper portion of the object and the “crystals” were shorter than the topaz ones that constituted most of the light phenomenon. 

The structure was only observed as an emanation of light. It was not symmetric vertically, but appeared to have most of its mass on the bottom or larger half in a vertical sense. The upper part that was white did not extend to the front or back of the largest horizontal dimension; the direction of travel. It was only this last (4th) flash where it appeared closest to me that I could see that there were two different colors of light. There was no sound then or a sound wake that followed. Based on the distance travelled in the space of time required, it must have been travelling at least 150-300 mph if not a little more.

It wasn’t until after the last flash that I did the “math” in my head and realized that a small plane would have displayed a red light at the tip of the port wing and a green at the tip of the opposite/starboard wing. I lived less than a mile from a major airport for several years and observed many small aircraft and helicopters approach and depart at a close distance. 

The phenomenon being reported here was unlike anything I’ve ever seen, heard described, or have seen in pictures, videos, or depicted in drawings. In just these immediate few seconds that followed the last flash, I realized that this was not something I know to be man-made; hence this report.”

The witness submitted the following sketch to further describe the object that he saw.

The Analysis

There are seven airports within a 40 mile radius of the location of the sighting, and many more within a 100 mile radius. The simplest explanation is that this sighting was of an unusual aircraft operating out of one of these airports.

However, given the witness’s description of the object’s speed, lack of sound, unusual shape, lack of signal lights, and general odd appearance, the simple explanation does not fit the witness’s observation.

There have been a number of sightings in the Mitchell, SD area over the years reported in various UFO databases, so it does appear there is a lot of activity in the area.

Conclusion

Without further evidence to examine, this case is difficult to draw any conclusions from. It is documented here to compare with other cases in the region, and hopefully determine what may be going on in the area.

Background

The following was submitted to The Black Vault / TBV Investigations on December 20th, 2017. The witness described the encounter as the following:

“This sighting took place in my backyard in Long Beach CA, Carson Park to be specific. I spend many hours per week sky watching in the yard and have seen and recorded many UFOs there.

When I first spotted the UFO it looked very bright and was moving steadily across the sky. There were actually two objects at first when I spotted this bright orb. From a distance it looked larger than a plane and again very bright. I then grabbed the camera and started recording the object. When it became clear in the lens I realized it was a somewhat of an elongated object and it was glowing white. From here I just tried to keep the camera steady and record the UFO as smoothly as possible. After a minute or so things got very interesting once it released what looked like a triangular formation of orbs from it’s main body. As you can see in the footage the orbs were actually pretty large and held this formation very steady as they ejected from the main object.

Many UFO sightings I’ve had have been triangle formations so this to me was a confirmation that this was likely a UFO and a signal of communication. After the triangle formation disbanded I bungled the camera and lost track of it in the viewfinder. I then got it back in the lens and followed it in the sky for a few more minutes. Towards the end of the video on my last zoom in the UFO started ejecting what looked like tons of small spheres from it’s main body. I was very surprised to see and have never seen so many orbs come out of one object. The smaller orbs formed a trail going through the sky and seemed also take different formations. It’s important to note I could only see the small spheres through the infrared camera I could not see them with my naked eye. I did my best to keep the camera steady and film the event taking place. As the UFO crossed my hard it went behind a tree and I lost track of it in the camera. In the last few seconds though I could see the object was just above my head about to go behind this tree and it looked very large and very bright! I moved to the middle of the yard to try and record the object more but unfortunately couldn’t manage to get the UFO back in the lens. I could still see it but it was heading out of range.

My arm was also very tired since I’d been filming for about 9 minutes. So I decided that was good enough and watched it go out of view towards the ocean. To this day it’s the most interesting capture I’ve caught on film. We see many UFOs at our house but this was by far the most exceptional. I don’t believe it to be skydivers or a military exercise. For one thing my infrared camera is a high end unit that has a 1345 mm telephoto lens designed for long distance shooting. The camera can easily articulate planes, helicopters, or anything in the sky with great clarity. We would for sure have been able to see that this was a plane or helicopter if it was a conventional object. This UFO also looked like many of the orbs we see and record with the bright, plasma type quality to it. They look like they’re alive in this type of plasmatic form.

There wasn’t any sound from the UFO. I could hear other airplanes flying at higher altitudes while recording the object. I live near long beach airport and see planes flying by all day.”

The case was assigned to TBV Investigations team member Christopher Connelly for investigation. 

The Analysis

Unfortunately, I am unable this object into a “shape” as throughout the video, it appears to be shifting, due to possible movement, camera angles or another reason yet to be identified.

The type of material the object was made of is impossible to determine, due to the film being in infrared.

Even though it is in infrared, it is impossible to get a heat signature from something at such a distance.

As the witness continues to watch the object, it appears to be moving slightly to the witness’ right.  As the object is being filmed, it begins dropping smaller heat signatures, or other objects, as it moves along.

Much like the main object, it is hard to make out the shape of these objects being dropped but they do not appear to be falling in a regular pattern.

At one time, you can see a triangular formation of three heat signatures falling to earth. Eventually, it appears that the object disappears behind the cover of a tree and filming ends at that time.

Corresponding Cases

The following case was filmed by the Long Beach Police Department on December 25, 2004, which looks very similar.  There is no context to the video, as it was found on YouTube, so it is hard to verify. But, it was uploaded in 2008, and appears to be very similar. The video can be found here: 

Possible Explanations

Skydiving Team – Recreational or Military

I reached out to local skydiving companies in the local area, but they would not give me any information in regards to any of the jumps.

About a hour and a half away lies Camp Pendleton, which is host to various Marine Corps and Navy units but from my military experience, I doubt that they would fly 1.5 hours out to perform jumps over Long Beach.

Another thing is that when a military or civilian jump is occurring, the craft is usually moving at a decent speed and the jumpers are dropped at intervals, not in sporadic formations that are seen in the video. There are cases of Special Forces performing small team jumps or even HALO (High Altitude Low Oxygen)  jump, but this doesn’t appear to be small teams.

I was unable to make out any sounds of the craft in the video and the witness states that there were none. I am unable to make any decision on the shape or color of the object due to the infrared and that this “jelly bean” shape may actually be its shape.

Conclusion

Due to the video, location of the sighting and the reoccurring sightings that have been reported with heavy supportive evidence, such as the object filmed by the Long Beach Police helicopter in ‘04 (see reference above), I have come to the conclusion that I am unable to identify this object using my range of scientific methods. I am unable to identify its origin as well.

On December 18, 2017, a UFO witness submitted the following (and asked for anonymity) and the date given was approximate:

“Travelling south on 4 lane highway 35mph limit saw a black pyramid shaped object float over tree tops on my left and fly above and in front of my now stopped car. I stopped my car because this was the strangest thing I ever saw up until that time. It stopped in front and above of me. It checked me out(only car on the road) and I checked it out for maybe 10 seconds then it continued on to my right.

It was approx. 75-100 feet in air no sound and I saw no body structure. It had a colored light in top point of pyramid and bottom 2 points. Don’t remember the colors and there could of been lights running up the angled sides of pyramid but I don’t remember. I drew a pix and showed it to private pilot at work the next day who said those aren’t colors on airplanes.

I followed it turning right down a narrow tractor road. It was heading towards a golf course. I got scared, turned around and got out of there. This occurred sometime in the late 1970’s to early 1980’s. Sometime later watching Unsolved Mysteries about Bentwaters case and thought to myself did I witness one of the Bentwaters craft.”

The case was assigned to TBV Investigations Team Member Freddy Alvisi.

The Analysis

Due to the passage of time, and lack of photographic or video evidence, a case like this is difficult to pinpoint.

A database check on the National UFO Reporting Center database, revealed the following cases that fit the approximate time frame, and the location.

The witness was sent these cases, and their response was the following:

“Hi. The reports are all around the right time frame. What time of year I don’t remember. Wordens Pond would of been the direction the object I saw could of been headed to being maybe 15 miles away and in the right direction. Oddly enough I had a friend during that time frame whose family had or has a cabin on that pond. Been there a few times. I know about the TR3B and Phoenix chevron type of craft. The object I saw was not large and it flew in a vertical plane not horizontal.”

When asked for reference images, the witness did supply the following photographs, which they felt, was close to what they witnessed. According to the witness:

“I did a picture search for the first time and came up with these two pictures that closely resemble what I saw. Now, you have to imagine them up against a black sky, 75-100 ft in front and above you. You wouldn’t see any structure. Just the lights giving you an idea of the shape which I call pyramid as opposed to triangle.”

Conclusion

There is going to be no way to readily identify the object, with the lack of evidence, and the passage of time. However, the case is archived here to hopefully find corresponding cases in the general area around the same time frame.

On December 19, 2017, Ronald Male submitted the following UFO sighting to The Black Vault / TBV Investigations, which he witnessed from his driveway in Cazenovia, New York. The event occurred on July 19, 2006 at 10:30am:

I brought my breakfast (bowl of cereal) outdoors to eat while sitting in my spring chair to be in the sun in the driveway on a very nice morning. As usual, the chair took a moment to stabilize, and when it stopped the back and forth rocking motion I was able to eat without a problem. As I leaned back slightly my eyes were able to notice an object in the sky that did not look normal. There was no sound, no evidence of flight control surfaces, and after a few seconds it seemed to linger in place. But it was actually slowely moving due east in the direction of Cazenovia Lake, which was half mile from my driveway. Its movement was regular…..no stops or starts……and appeared to be shaped round like a saucer with a shiny metalic surface. As the object transitioned from about 45° arc from the horizon to almost directly overhead, it was appearant that it did not rotate on its own axis, but the sun reflected off its surface in such a way that I could see the “skin” of the craft which looked to be paneled as individual panels reflected light in sequence as it slowely moved. Its size was hard to interupt since the blue sky offered no reference points, but from where I sat my best estimate was it was the size as a tennis ball held at arms length.

I was considering getting my digital camera, but then I might loose sight of it should it make a move.

As it reached a point over my head it suddenly went straight up so fast that there was little or no shrinking perspective that is evident when an aircraft, for instance, flies away and its appearant size gets smaller with distance traveled. That final sudden and unexpected disappearance was not associated with any noise, flash of light, or any other indication …..it simply disappeared. There were no other witnesses and the entire observation lasted for 4 or 5 minutes.

The Analysis

Aspects of this sighting fit classic UFO reports: disc shaped object, no sound, metallic surface with no flight control surfaces, almost instantaneous departure, etc. There have been sightings from the Cazenovia, NY area reported on other UFO sites, but none that match this description. The size of the object is difficult to determine without knowing the altitude.

It is possible that this aircraft is connected to Deer Run Airfield about 5 miles from site of the observation.

Conclusion

Without further information it is difficult to determine what was seen in the sky on this day. A pedestrian explanation is that this was merely an unusual aircraft operating out of the Deer Run Airfield at 4051 Argos Rd, Cazenovia, NY, 13035, which is a little over 5 miles from the driveway of the witness. This case should remain open without further evidence.
