Whitley Strieber – “Technique Out-Of-Control”
In a strongly critical piece, Whitley Strieber outlines his concerns with the use of hypnotic regression in UFO abduction investigations. Best known for Communion and Transformation, Strieber describes how his own experiences led him to seek hypnosis, but quickly warns that the technique is vulnerable to misuse — particularly by untrained or ideologically driven investigators. He writes, “I have seen what I feel are abuses perpetrated by ‘investigators’ who are really nothing more than part-time, unlicensed and unregulated mental health counselors.” Strieber argues that regression, while potentially helpful in therapeutic settings, should not be used to establish factual narratives about alleged encounters. He contends that suggestibility, confirmation bias, and lack of proper oversight have led to a distorted view of what abduction experiences entail. Instead, Strieber urges the community to focus on conscious, unhypnotized testimony and to avoid prematurely shaping narratives around investigator expectations. His warning: unless treated with proper scientific and ethical rigor, hypnosis may do more to conceal the truth than reveal it.

Budd Hopkins – “One Ufologist’s Methodology”
Budd Hopkins, often credited with bringing abduction research into the mainstream, offers a defense of hypnotic regression and lays out his methodology in detail. He began using the technique in the late 1970s after investigating multiple cases that featured missing time and recurring trauma. Hopkins emphasizes that hypnosis is not the first tool he reaches for, but rather one he uses after exhausting conventional interviews and investigative steps. “In roughly one-fourth of the abduction cases I’ve investigated, the subject has recalled virtually all of his or her basic abduction scenario prior to hypnosis,” he writes. Hopkins also stresses the importance of using neutral, non-leading language and notes that the details recalled by abductees—whether hypnotized or not—tend to align. He introduces concepts such as “screen memories,” where the mind masks traumatic encounters with benign imagery, such as owls or deer, to protect the witness. Hopkins maintains that hypnosis, when used responsibly, has helped uncover consistent patterns in abduction cases, including apparent medical examinations, reproductive procedures, and the recurrence of experiences over a witness’s lifetime. He warns against throwing the tool out entirely, stating that “screen memories clearly establish the need for hypnosis if we are ever to know the whole truth about any abduction experience.”

Dr. Thomas Bullard – “Hypnosis No ‘Truth Serum’”
Dr. Thomas Bullard, a folklorist with a Ph.D. from Indiana University, approaches the topic from an academic and methodological standpoint. His article focuses on whether hypnosis can be considered a scientifically valid tool in abduction research. Citing decades of psychological literature, Bullard explains that hypnosis is not a form of “truth serum,” but a complex process that can lead to both enhanced memory and increased susceptibility to suggestion. Bullard compares 104 abduction cases—74 derived from hypnotic recall and 30 based on conscious memory—and finds that the two sets of data are broadly consistent. He notes that “in nearly 3/4 of the time, the results were homogeneous among hypnotic and non-hypnotic cases.” While some traits—such as undressing or implants—appear more frequently in hypnotic sessions, Bullard argues that the overall structure and content of abduction reports are not significantly distorted by the use of regression. He also addresses experiments where non-abductees, when guided under hypnosis, generated fictional abduction stories. Though these raise valid concerns, Bullard concludes that they don’t account for the internal consistency and recurring patterns found across genuine cases. His final assessment: hypnosis has limitations, but when used with caution, it remains a viable tool—one that must be paired with corroborating evidence, multiple-witness cases, and physical data.

Together, these articles offer a balanced and critical look at hypnotic regression and its place in abduction research as it stood in 1989. The technique continues to be a point of contention, with opinions split between those who see it as a doorway to hidden truth and those who see it as a source of contamination in the historical record. As with much in the UFO field, the debate remains unsettled — but this collection adds important context to an issue that sits at the heart of how we investigate one of the phenomenon’s most persistent mysteries.

In August 1993, 27-year-old Kelly Cahill, her husband and three children were driving home after a visit to a friend’s house. After midnight the Cahills first noticed the lights of a rounded craft with windows around it. It silently hovered above the road. Different colored lights were clearly visible on the bottom of the object.

AN EXTRAORDINARY ENCOUNTER IN THE DANDENONG FOOTHILLS

As a scientist I am always aware of the maxim that extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. To date Mainstream UFO events have revealed some compelling evidence for their physical reality. The challenge for researchers has always been to determine if that evidence is consistent with an alien reality. Comparable evidence to support the reality of abduction events has been lacking Or relatively uncompelling.

In my two decades of research into Australian abduction claims, it has been difficult not to hold the position that abduction cases have perhaps told me more about the human condition than they have about UFOs. What follows, however, is a report On an affair which may amount to evidence for a reality behind abduction reports.

Kelly Cahill, a 27 -year-old housewife and mother of three children, is a pivotal figure in a remarkable episode which may have much to tell experiencers and researchers alike. She contacted me on October 4, 1993, seeking assistance in understanding a bizarre experience she underwent near the outer Melbourne suburban housing estate of Narre Warren North, in the foothills of the Dandenongs, Victoria, between Belgrave and Fountain Gate, during the early hours of August 8, 1993.

Kelly told me that apart from her husband with her in their car, she was aware of another vehicle farther down the hill from their own position. That car contained at least two persons, a man and a woman. She paid little heed to them at the time because she and her husband had their attention riveted on a massive UFO which had landed in the field opposite them.

Because Kelly lived in Victoria and I live in New South Wales, I passed details of Kelly’s experience on to John Auchettl of Phenomena Research Australia (PRA) and urged Kelly to contact him. PRA got on the case immediately .

By November 17 PRA had located the man and woman Kelly had seen that night. It turned out that the couple also had a friend (a woman) with them. These witnesses took Auchettl to the encounter site, to a spot consistent with Kelly’s description. The group’s drawings of the UFO and entities also closely coincide with Kelly’ s.

Here we have a striking situation. Two groups of persons unknown to each other have witnessed the same UFO encounter and entities. They also experienced missing time, and each group has been available to competent investigators. Independent witnesses have provided information which enable cross-checking and correlations to reveal a remarkable amount of similar information. The result is a compelling case for the reality of the strange events.described. The ontological status of the events is further strengthened by a range of apparently related physical traces, including ground traces, a magnetic anomaly, and effects on some of the witnesses.

What is perhaps even more extraordinary about this case is that the second group described seeing yet another car parked farther back down from them. In it was (it appeared) one male who seemed to be gazing fixedly toward the encounter site. So we have the situation of three cars present: Kelly and her husband in one near the top of a hill, the three-person group (Bill, Jan, and Glenda) another 150 meters down the hill, and the other car, with one visible occupant, about 25 to 30 meters farther back.

The first two cars were parked with their lights off. The other had its lights on. This circumstance may explain an apparent anomaly, in that Kelly was able to glance down and spot the second car, with what to her seemed only two persons (in fact three), but the group of three could not see Kelly, her husband, or their car. It was a dark and cloudy night. Evidently Kelly could see the second car only because it was backlit by the headlights of the third car.

From the trio’ s testimony, investigators could determine the location of this third car. The male was looking at the UFO’s position through a break in the vegetation cover. The trio’s evidence coupled with Kelly’ s allowed for triangulation of the encounter site with the UFO. The location was consistent with the anomalies discovered (to be discussed later). Unfortunately, this potential additional witness has yet to be found.

Typically witnesses to these sorts of events are known to each other, and such relationships often beg the question of whether the witnessed events have emerged from shared delusions or even collusion. Through Auchettl, Kelly became aware of the independent witnesses, but they knew nothing of her existence until quite recently. Kelly tried hard to persuade Auchettl to give her the other group’ s names, but he refused because he wanted to maintain the integrity of the testimony. Only when the investigation was completed did the three learn what Kelly had been saying. So far they have not attempted to contact her. PRA has uncovered no evidence of a previous connection between the Cahills and the other group.

After the encounter Kelly’ s recollection faded from conscious memory, despite animated discussions about it with her husband in the immediate wake of the incident. Her husband remembered at least the UFO encounter but not the entities and has not acknowledged the missing time. It was her husband’ s reference to the August 8 event at a barbecue on September 16 that led to Kelly’s initial confused attempts to reconcile this troubling situation. Kelly found this temporary amnesia along, especially since she has vivid memories going all the way back to age two.

Other events began to be seen in a different and bizarre perspective. These included a “dream” she had immediately after the encounter, upon getting home and going to sleep on August 8, and two “dreamings” in September. Each involved (apparently) the same entities as those encountered on the road. The latter two “dreamings” had a strange physical dimension. A further two “dreamings” followed, one on October 23 and the last during January 1994.

Alarmed, Kelly sought help with little success from universities and aviation authorities. The latter gave her two UFO contact numbers, one in Victoria and mine in Sydney.

After getting no satisfaction from the Victorian group, she contacted me, and after our preliminary discussion of her experience, the PRA investigation commenced.

What follows is the transcript of an interview Kelly gave to my associate Robb Tilley on March 21 of this year.

The details are consistent with those recounted to me on October 4, 1993, in numerous conversations with me since then, with the PRA investigation, and with a manuscript she is writing about her experience.

THE INCIDENT

My husband and I were driving to my girl friend’s place up in the mountains. It was her daughter’s . . . birthday.

It was just after dark, and we were nearly there, about half an hour from her place. It takes us about an hour and a half from our place. It was just after 7.

[The area has] little bits of field . . . and then you run right into a major shopping centre. . . .

My husband drives really fast. . . . I’m just busy looking out the window . It’s turned dark, and I look over towards this field as we are going past, and I see a ring of orange lights. It was the first time I ever thought I had seen something that wasn’ t normal. . . . I was going to shut my mouth. I thought, “No, he’ s just going to have a go at me.” But a couple of minutes up the road I said, “I swear I saw a UFO.” He said, “Don’t be stupid! It was probably a helicopter.” I said, “It wasn’t making any noise. It was just sitting on the ground. Anyway, after a few jibes at me, he forgot all about it, and we arrived at [my girl friend’s place].

When we were there, my friends bring up this conversation, about what I thought I had seen. Her father says, “You think you’ve seen little green men or something, . Kelly?” and all this sort of stuff. It was turned into a joke, and I just totally forgot about it.

We went out and played bingo. We came back. We had a bit of a problem about what time we left. As far as my husband’s concerned, because we got home at 2:30 in the morning, it means we must have left at one o’clock.

But that night I think we left at a quarter to 12. We got back from bingo at about 1 1, and we didn’t stay for very long because [my friend’s]daughter’ s boy friend had just . . . split up with her and had gone home with the new girl friend . . . and she was really upset and crying, and we didn’t want to stay. So we weren’t there for that long at all.

THE ENCOUNTER BEGINS

Anyway, we were driving back down the road in the same stretch. Both of us,just me and my husband . . . we both saw this ring, mind you … . in front of us, hovering above the road. It was just something sitting there. . . . I couldn’t tell what it was. We were at first far away, but as you got closer to it was sort of . . . well, it wasn’t like the orange light in the field. It was a round shape with some sort of glass around, or what looked like windows and lights around the bottom. Because it was dark, you couldn’t really tell at first. But as we got closer and closer, there was no noise or anything.

Even my husband’s going. “You’re right! That’s something. That’s very, very strange.” And I swear we saw people in there, and then just as I said to him, “I swear there’s people in there,” it just shot off to the left as fast as it could go. I mean it just disappeared. Within a split second it had gone.

We kept driving and about a kilometre ahead, all of a sudden, there’s this really, really bright light in front of us, and I’ve got my hand up, up above my brow, to look out the window, because it’s that bright, but I can’t see anything.

I said to [my husband], “What are you going to do?” He said, “l’m going to keep driving.” From there, that is the last we remembered until . . . I knew I was going to see a UFO, you know, I just knew, because of what we had seen, I’d seen it twice in one night and he had seen it once . . . and the adrenalin is pumping, the heart is thumping, I’m so excited. All of a sudden I’m sitting in the car, and I’m saying to my husband, “What happened?” And he says to me, “I don’t know. We must have gone around a corner or something.” By the time we got home, he was definite of everything, but at that time he didn’t know what happened either. I said to him, “I swear I’ve had a blackout,” because adrenalin just doesn’t disappear in a split second
like that. I mean your heart is going mad! And all of a sudden. . . .

One thing that really annoyed me was that I could smell vomit. I couldn’t figure out where the smell of vomit was coming from.

I argue about this half the way home until it started getting ridiculous, and I ended up just shutting up to stop all the fighting that was going to come out of it, you know, because we fight like cats and dogs. . . .

As we were getting close to our home, about 20 minutes away from where we live (there was no one on the road), I saw a figure standing on the side of the road a tall dark figure. It was only for a couple of seconds, and I didn’t relate it to anything until much later on at all. But it made me turn my head. I kept it in my mind, because it reminded me of a story I was told when I was a little girl about the headless horseman on the side of the road . . .because it was on the side of the road. It wasn’t headless or anything,just this tall black figure. I saw it for only a couple of seconds, and then I couldn’t see it anymore, but I thought I saw it.

POST ENCOUNTER FALLOUT

I get home. That night I actually had a dream about UFOs to top it all off, that something happened . . . but a whole lot of it went out of my head.

Kelly and her husband argued about what happened for part of the way home. They agree they saw a UFO but cannot agree on the feeling Kelly had of experiencing a blackout or missing time and seeing people. They also could both smell vomit. Each experienced unexplained stomach pain. For Kelly it was like a pain from severe muscle fatigue which radiated from her lower abdomen to the upper shoulders.

Later, after they got home, Kelly experienced menstrual bleeding and became quite ill. She had had her period only the week before. Eventually she entered the hospital with a womb infection. The doctors there said she must have been pregnant; either that, or she had had some kind of gynaecological operation. In fact, she had had neither in recent times. A strange triangular mark was also found on her abdomen along with a scar.

Kelly elaborated on these matters: But when I got home that night, that’s when I found the triangular mark below my navel, with what I thought was a little laparoscopy cut, and I also started bleeding that night. Three and a half weeks later I ended up in hospital… . . [The hospital] actually did a laparoscopy, another laparoscopy. This was not when I first went in. I went back in later, another six weeks after that, because I had a lot of pains in my stomach and just wanted to have it checked to see what it was. And I still had the triangular mark there. . . .

They just did a blooming laparoscopy cut right next to it. [There was] no comment whatsoever. . . . I have a letter from a friend saying that she saw it.

CONSCIOUS RECOLLECTIONS

Kelly’s recollections did not come from any hypnosis. Indeed she had only one session well after the main investigation had been completed. It failed to reveal anything of significance. Feeling that at best she had been only lightly under, she felt the session had been of little value.

With regard to the August 8 encounter, she recalls crossing the road to the paddock, seeing at first one tall black being with glowing red eyes, then many. These latter seemed to be approaching rapidly, as if gliding. The large group of tall black beings apparently were split into two groups, one focused on Kelly and her husband, the other one on the other people who had also crossed farther down the road. The rest of her recollection is largely confusing and fragmented. She experienced voices and blindness.

Kelly elaborated on how her memory came back: We went down to a girl friend’s place a little bit later, a few weeks later, and the subject of UFOs came up, and her husband was saying, “Oh, I don’t think they really exist.” It was my husband that said, “If you had seen what Kelly and I saw, you might change your mind.” I said, “What are you talking about?” You know, if I’d seen something, I’d have remembered it. I didn’t even remember that I had seen it hovering in the middle of the road. It had been totally blanked out of my mind. And I search my head for days, because I knew he wouldn’t say something if he didn’t mean it. He was telling me, “Remember, on the way home from [your girl friend’s], remember, it wasn’t making any noise?” And I was just sitting there. I couldn’t remember it.

And a few days later, all of a sudden I remembered it! It hit me! And .. . . then I remembered going into the light, and then I couldn’t remember anything else. A couple of weeks after that, this started to really bug me, because I remembered that light, and I remember arguing with him all the wayhome, but it was all I did remember.

I went up to [my girl friend’s]house again in October, this time for her other daughter’s . . .birthday, and again we went to bingo. On the way home from bingo that night, we went along the same road, and as we passed a certain spot I just got this incredible feeling of terror go through me, I mean absolute terror. All of a sudden I just started remembering, and by the next morning I had remembered just about everything that happened, except there’s still missing time that I can’t.

What we had actually done, we had driven . . . into the light, but the road curved, and the light we had thought was in front of us was actually to our right-hand side. It was in the field, and it was massive. . . . [Estimates put the possible diameter of the UFO at the “size of a house” or perhaps close to 5O meters.] So it was very big.Why I knew it was very big was because we could have driven for five minutes. The road sort of wound around this part.

You could have driven for five minutes and not had it out of your sight the whole time.

Kelly and her husband had a clear, uninterrupted view of a craft of enormous size. It was much larger than the UFO seen a few minutesearlier, and it was at ground level in the field at the bottom of a gully area.

I asked him to stop the car, and we both got out. I remembered leaning back in, actually on the floor, to pick up my handbag, because I didn’t go anywhere without my handbag. And that’ s one of the sort of things that triggered off a lot of these memories doing that. The other thing was telling myself, “You are conscious. This is real! This is happening! This is real!”. . . .

For a while it was just absolutely terrifying, but you can’t help it because it sounds really wacky. I mean this is not the way it’s supposed to happen at all. . . .

We crossed over the road. We jumped the gutter, and we walked up. . .I looked down the road, and there was another car-a light blue car-pulled up. Some people got out and went across the road. I only thought it was two, but it was actually three, but I didn’ t pay much attention. They must have been at least a hundred meters down the road from us. When you’ve got something like that in front of you, and you’ we got people down the road . . . well, I was more interested in what was in front of me than them, so I didn’t get any detail. . . .

I’m standing there, and we are looking at this thing [for about 3O seconds]. All of a sudden there is a black figure on the field. It’s about seven foot tall. . . . I knew it was really tall at the time.

For Kelly this was quite startling. She expected to see a human being, but this was not human. Kelly tried to use thought as a means of communication. She was immediately overwhelmed with fear. Its eyes seemed to turn to a red fire.

At the distance of about 150 meters, they possessed an extraordinary luminosity .

It started coming towards us, only slowly, and it had big red eyes. It sounds stupid, but it had great big round red eyes, like huge flies’ eyes and they were red like, not like a reflection of red, but like burning red, like . . . fluorescent stop lights, I suppose, that sort of real burning red.

All of a sudden I started screaming out [to my husbands. . . . Now this has really got me baffled because of the fact that a human being doesn’t know this, so I don’t even know how I came out with this, but I started saying, “They’ve got no souls.” And then I started screaming, “THEY’VE GOT NO SOULS!” Then all of a sudden there were heaps of them in the field, not just one, a whole heap of them, and they started coming towards us . . . faster than a man could run, and they were gliding off the ground. They got halfway across the field.

They split up. Some of them went towards the other people [two or three, Kelly thought]. and some of them [the rest]came towards us. Kelly found herself screaming to the other people down the road, “They’re evil! They’re going to kill us!”

The next thing I know, I felt this oomph! in my stomach, right across here like I was winded, but I was thrown right back, and I was on my back on the ground. I sat up, with my head between my knees. Here, I’m trying to stay conscious. I couldn’t see. My eyes. . . . It was all black.

.. . . I’m screaming out to [my husband]. . . .

Kelly speculated that her “winding” may have been caused by an electric fence present at the site. That may or may not be true. The fence may not even have been on at the time. Even if it was, the power may not have been strong enough to generate the effect she described. Nonetheless this possibly prosaic incident led her into confusion over whether the forces she was confronting were “good” or “evil.”

But the next thing I heard him saying, “Let go of me.” His voice was all sort of cracked up with fear, and I’d never heard that from my husband. He’s not frightened or afraid of anything. . . .

Then this male voice said, “We [don’t] mean you any harm.” And then he said, “Why did you hit Kelly then?” That’s the last I heard of [my husband]. No one else talked except me. I heard the male voice. Then I heard myself saying, “Oh, God, I’m going to be sick.” I’ve got my head between my knees, and I just felt, like, violently nauseous. Then I must have blacked out for a little while.

I don’t remember being sick. Then I remember hearing talk about being a peaceful people, and I started screaming out, I said, “Don’t believe them! They’re going to steal your souls!” I know it sounds so ridiculous now, but at the time I was hysterically terrified. . . . I had never felt terror like that. Not even in my worst nightmares had I experienced terror like that. . . .

Oh, there’s one thing I remember that he said: “I wouldn’t harm her. She’s my daughter.” Now when I first saw the-on the way up to [my girl friend’s]in the field, the first thing I did was pray. And I took it as sarcasm straight away. And it sounded like sarcasm. . . .

It sounded like there was even a small laugh after that. I don’t know-it just wasn’t good to me.

For Kelly, a strong faith in God often involved an ability to get answers to many of life’s situations, albeit sometimes in the most subtle and unlikely ways. For her the brief observation of a possible UFO on the way to her girl friend’s place on August 7 was perhaps a glimpse of one of life’s mysteries, perhaps even a lesson from God. So she made a silent prayer which began with “Father.” She thought for a moment, “Wait for me. I’ll be back down this way in a few hours.” To put this in context, it should be pointed out that Kelly had long been on a spiritual quest, anchored in a religious journey and a desire to understand the great mysteries.

Though she had little time for organized religions, she had a deep interest in the great religious works and had studied them, particularly the Bible, in great detail. Therefore, given her brief prayer for clarification of the nature of the UFO event on the way up to her friend, as well as the use of the word Father, she got a sense of “mockery” when she heard the voice saying, “She is my daughter.”

Anyway, I started screaming and going on about demons trying to steal people’s souls. . . . I like not to admit that it came from my mouth, but it did. . . . But I’m going to tell it the way it is.

Next thing I hear him saying, “Would somebody do something about .her?” And I felt a hand . . . touch my shoulder. It wasn’t hard. It was quite gentle.That’s when I absolutely cracked! I’m still sitting on the ground, and I couldn’t see a thing, but I made sure that my eyes were just fierce. . . . Something snapped in me. Before that I was crying. All of a sudden something snapped in me, and I got so angry . Then I started screaming out, “How dare you do this to these innocent people?” Like it was my fault. Because I was on a big spiritual search, and I really got the impression that it was my fault. And I thought, why involve other people?. . . I felt like, almost like there was a fight for me. Like it was something I had to do. . . .

Anyway, I started screaming out stupid things, told them to go back where they came from. Next thing I remember I was sitting in the car. I’ve still got missing time.

When she found herself sitting in the car, her last memory was of driving into the light.

THE DREAM OF AUGUST 8, 1993

Once she was home and asleep, the night brought a bizarre dream. This dream is of interest in that it emerged within hours of the encounter and it places Kelly back in the encounter. The subsequent “dreamings” do not have this quality about them. Nonetheless they were unusual in their own way, for reasons that will shortly be apparent.

In the August 8 dream she is on the side of the road with her head between her knees. She becomes aware that she can see again. A being is leading her husband down the slope onto the field. Throughout the dream she is unable to see the beings above the level of their elbows. Their limbs seem long and thin.

Inexplicably convinced that the being with her husband is female, she tackles it and then blacks out. In the dream she once again regains consciousness to find herself on the extreme right of the field with the UFO further down the field to the left. Before her on the ground is a still body, at first nonhuman, then changing to human. A middle-aged woman standing further down the field is screaming at her, “Murderess! Murderess!” She is overcome with grief with no awareness of having killed anyone.

Still in the dream, a hand on her shoulder leads her, and she follows obediently. Eventually Kelly becomes aware that she is in a small room, with only a small table and a being standing before her. The being tells her she did not kill anyone and they had to use her sense of morality to overcome her fear. Kelly has a profound feeling that she knows this being. On a table behind the being is a Bible, one of hers, which had disappeared a few weeks before. The being gives Kelly a strange choice which deepens her suspicion of the beings’ motives. She is told she can come but must leave the Bible behind. In the dream the being gives her this Bible.

The dream ends at that point. A few days after the encounter, her husband found the Bible in the car.

The “dreamings” mentioned earlier, first interpreted as something like a ghostly episode, take on a bizarre perspective when Kelly’s recollections flooded back. The first two preceded the point when more complete recall of the events of August 8 returned.

THE “DREAMINGS”

The first started with a presence which warns her to be calm. Then a frightening “sucking” sensation begins as if something is being taken from her. She comes out of the dream terrified and is confronted by a tall black figure in a floor length hooded cloak, about seven feet tall, with glowing red eyes. She screams, and the being disappears.

Initially Kelly interpreted the being as like a “soul vampire” or the Grim Reaper. At the time she did not place this incident in a UFO context, since the memories had yet to resurface.

In the second “dreaming” she experiences her legs being lifted and drawn out of the bed. She wakes and once again finds the same or similar being present, but this time the cloak obscures the eyes.

When after I did remember it, I had another dream, and these dreams seemed very physical. I know I’m dreaming, and I’ve got to wake up out of them. . . .

In this particular one, I felt as if my legs were being pulled off the bed, and it was like I was paralysed from my waist down, and my legs were being pulled over to the side; yet I could almost use the top of my body. Then I’m grabbing a pillow, trying to hit my husband, to wake him up. . . . I’m fighting this. I’m not going to let this thing drag me off the bed by my legs. Then I woke up and saw it standing there again! This time the hood covered the eyes, and it didn’t scare me. . . . I was still terrified, but it didn’t scare me quite as much, because each time it scared me, it was that same power like I felt out in the field that night.

When I was sitting on the ground, it was like something, almost like a frequency or a sound vibration or something. And it’s getting right into my head! And I couldn’t get it together. Like I was trying to get my logical thoughts together, not logical, almost conscious thoughts, and I was fighting it the whole time, which is probably why I seemed to remember more than my husband or even the other people.

The third “dreaming” occurred at a friend’ s place on October23 (see front cover). By then Kelly had experienced the flood of recollections. The two earlier “dreamings” took on an added significance, especially given the presence of the beings after Kelly had awakened from her “dreamings.” This time she wakes from a “dreaming” which seems to take the form of a “peak experience” (as psychologist Abraham Maslow calls it; Richard Maurice Bucke defined it as the sense of”cosmic consciousness”). She sees apparently the same creature as before; but unlike earlier manifestations, it is naked and leaning over her as if about to kiss her navel area. It is tall, with a head much larger than normal, long and thin arms, with an abdomen out of proportion to its thin frame, like a child’s stomach suffering from malnutrition.

Its skin is like gray-black plasticine. Kelly’s screams turn into an “uninterrupted stream of hysteria” and words.

In the morning she insisted that her husband check under the car. She had heard a distinct voice during the night urging such a check. He ignored her request, but their car subsequently suffered such a problem.

Numerous other “psychic” events and “electrical disturbances” followed. Frequently their car started up when no one was inside it. The vehicle had a kill switch which rendered these events even more startling and curious. Kelly thought she had developed enhanced psychic powers. The electrical events apparently ended in January 1994, as did many of the psychic incidents.

The fourth “dreaming” occurred in January of this year.

In the dream the bathroom light is blown. There is a sense of presence. Something persistently tries to grab Kelly’s right hand. Eventually she lets her hand be taken. Immediately she wakes up. Once again the creature in the black robe is standing by her bedside. It goes away. It turned out that the light had indeed blown and that diamond and sapphire rings .she wore on her right hand had disappeared. To date they have not
been found.

OTHER MATTERS

Other, earlier episodes, experiences, and issues of possible significance: . From July through September 1993 small orange fireballs, about the size of tennis balls, frequently hit the windows of the house. Kelly, her husband, and her mother witnessed the phenomena.

o About two and a half years earlier, at Lalor, Kelly had a peculiar dream in which she moved through a flesh-like hourglass apparatus. The same night she experienced a “vision” of opening their back door and seeing a light for a few seconds. Then she blacked out. Kelly experienced the same sense of power she felt in the field in August
1993.

o After the encounter and until July 1994, the Cahill house (built in 1949) had been the scene of fleeting observations of tall “shadows,” seen by both Kelly and her husband.

o A bad smell occasionally permeated the house and seemed to move around.

THE OTHER WITNESSES

If the August 8 encounter had revolved only around Kelly, it could be argued that the experience may have been some sort of psychological episode. But the presence of other witnesses – a married couple and their friend, plus a possible other observer in a third car-forcefully argues for a real encounter. Indeed, the PRA contends that the focus of the incident was not Kelly but the two other women.

As in Kelly’ s situation, the females in the other group seemed to play a dominant role. Bill, the male witness in the trio, appears, like Kelly’s husband, to have had only limited involvement. The two women consciously recalled onboard episodes. They remembered the UFO and the tall black beings. Their description did not feature the red eyes Kelly saw.

For the trio the experience apparently started when they approached the site. All three could hear a strange noise and suddenly felt ill. Bill thought he was going to faint. He lost control of the car and ran off the road, striking a pole. After checking for damage, they drove off. A few minutes later a speeding car with its high beams on shot past them. Then another passed. They came to a bridge with a sharp turn following it almost immediately. Farther along this section the trio stopped. As all this was going on, Bill’s vision was impaired. Obviously he had Some type of vision as he was driving, but he was unable to remember seeing the UFO. The two women with him recall the UFO clearly, and their descriptions closely match Kelly’s.

In some unexplained manner Bill was isolated from the central experience. He has conscious recall of smells and sounds and remembers that a lot of activity was going on. He does not recall seeing anything. He subsequently underwent hypnosis, which expanded his apparent recollections to seeming onboard components, but once again these were through the senses of smell and hearing only.

The two women did not think of theirs as an “abduction” experience. They felt as if they had exercised free will all through it. Yet the principal element of their onboard experience was a form of examination-not, however, visually remembered. Other parts of their onboard experience exist in visual images and conscious memory. Hypnosis in their cases appears to have only reinforced what they recall already.

The entities did not speak and provided very little information. Neither woman saw the other or any of the others while in the alien environment presumably aboard the UFO. Curiously, each was still aware of what was happening to her companion, ostensibly through psychic means.

The trio apparently did not have the complex background experiences described by Kelly. Their experience seem limited only to the August 8 encounter.

There is also some physical evidence. PRA found a possible related ground trace and low-level magnetic anomaly at the encounter site.

COMMENT

Kelly has gone on to write her own account of the experience and its difficult aftermath. In October 1994 John Auchettl and PRA, whose investigative thoroughness is to be commended, released a comprehensive report on the affair. In this emotionally explosive area it is easy for people to get caught up in less than satisfactory situations while they attempt to understand extraordinary experiences. I hope this event and the documentation that flows from it will be of some help to others in similar situations.

The victims of these experiences must not be unrealistically encouraged by advocates of an alien presence; nor, at the other extreme, should they be ridiculed by the sceptical among us. They should be helped to deal with their experiences, whether those experiences turn out to be prosaic or profound in origin. The second part of this report will review the PRA report and examine in detail the accounts of the other group of witnesses. It will also consider the physical evidence and provide reflections on the nature and meaning of this event.

Update (12/6/02) The Cahill case, PRA & openness:

It should be noted that the above “comment” in the 1994 IUR report was prepared on the assumption that the “PRA comprehensive report on the affair” was about to be released. Despite nearly a decade passing, John Auchettl and PRA have not released their report other than a few fragments of information.

As the researcher responsible for passing Kelly Cahill onto PRA in the first place, principally because I am NSW based and the incident occurred in Victoria, I have to say now that that decision was, in hindsight, a mistake.

My comment in my 1994 IUR report: “John Auchettl and PRA, whose investigative thoroughness is to be commended”, was based entirely on conversations with Auchettl and discussions with Kelly Cahill at the time (1993-1994), and in retrospect should have been qualified more accurately. While Auchettl & PRA may well have been thorough in their investigation, in reality there has been no way to absolutely verify this, because of their unwillingness to release their report and data on the case. PRA have offered some seemingly unusual and convoluted explanations for this lack of sharing.

I have long encouraged openness and sharing in UFO research (my web site is in part an expression of my position on this matter). My attempts to encourage PRA in this direction, from my perspective, have been very disappointing, and have instead lead me to not to refer cases to John Auchettl and PRA. Unless PRA changes their apparent lack of transparency and openness, researchers and witnesses should carefully consider the wisdom of cooperating with Phenomena Research Australia (PRA).

Summary

On April 25, 1977 in Pampa Lluscuma (near Putre), Chile a soldier was in shock after a strange, five-day saga with a UFO. Six members of an army patrol saw two bright objects descending from the sky.

Cpl. Armando Valdes, the patrol leader, set out alone to investigate and, according to the men, simply vanished. Fifteen minutes later, they said, he reappeared, tried to speak and passed out.

The date on his watch had been advanced five days, and he now had about a week’s growth of beard.

Incident: “You don’t know who we are or where we come from but we will be back soon.” These are the strange words uttered by Corporal Armando Valdes, leader of a Chilean military patrol. Just some 15 minutes previously he had been subjected to a mysterious UFO encounter at Pampa Lluscuma near Putre in Chile.

The date was April 25, 1977, and the time about 4:00 AM. Putre is 50 air miles ENE of Arica, a larger city in Chile.

Corporal Valdes was in charge of a patrol on routine assignment near Putre in the early morning hours of April 25, 1977. He and his six-man patrol were sitting around a campfire alongside a wall of stones and mud at the secret army post of Pampa Lluscuma.

They were talking and singing quite a while to stay awake.

Two of the men kept watch several feet away. About four in the morning one of the men. Private Rosales, ran back to Valdes to report that two bright violet lights had landed, one of which was in sight and illuminated the whole area. The light approached closer.

Valdes ordered his men to cover up their fire with blankets. The violet light with a red spot at each end withdrew and then returned closer. The patrol was terrified.

There was no sound with the UFO motion. The Chilean high plateau was amazingly silent. Corporal Valdes stated “after praying to God and ordering the light to leave . . . after demanding that it identify itself, I moved a few meters away from my men.”

The corporal moved toward the object. He disappeared for some 15 minutes. When he reappeared, he was shaking and his voice seemed different. The light had been illuminating the whole area.

As Corporal Valdes reappeared he was heard to utter the words at the beginning of this article.

He then became unconscious and was attended by his fellow men till he awoke some two hours later. The UFO also disappeared about this time.

While the unconscious Corporal Valdes was assisted by his patrol, his men made another strange observation. They saw that Valdes had a beard growth equivalent to several days without shaving. He had been well shaven before the incident. As Valdes awoke he exclaimed, “I don’t remember anything from the moment I left you.”

He then ordered, “Get ready to leave because it’s 4:30 in the morning. It was actually about 7 AM. His calendar watch had stopped at 4:30 but the date was five days advanced – to the 30th instead of the 25th.

These are the bizarre circumstances in the case. Many of the details were related some two hours after the incident to Pedro Araneda, a correspondent and lecturer. The presence of UFOs are not a surprise to Corporal Valdes. He, as well as others in the interior of Chile near Arica, often see luminous UFOs moving about the skies.

Valdes states, “The surprising thing was the way it approached us. As soldiers we are trained to deal with any situation. But this phenomenon didn’t seem to have any logical explanation. I would like to regain my memory of those fifteen minutes. I would even like to submit to hypnosis to draw out information about what happened.”

President and Commander in Chief Augusto Pinochet of Chile has prohibited further interviews with the soldiers. Medical, psychiatric and eventually hypnotic tests are planned for member of the patrol to confirm their stories.

Meanwhile more sightings have occurred at Arica, Punta Arenas, Santiago, and other locations up and down the 2700 mile length of Chile. NASA and the University of Chile jointly operate a space tracking station north of Santiago, Chile. Officials of the station could offer nothing to elucidate the facts in this case.

The time fact in this particular case – increased beard growth and accelerated clock time – are elements which make this case exceptional and worthy of further consideration. – APRO, July, 1977

Chile: Controversy Over an Intriguing UFO Case

The Valdés Case – the most paradigmatic episode of Chilean ufology – has been revisited in “La noche de los centinelas” (The Night of the Sentries), an 8-year -long journalistic investigation that looks into background events, locates the protagonists and “uncovers more than one surprise”, according to the author.

It occurred one early morning on April 1977 near Putre, in the Chilean highlands.

Eight young soldiers were keeping watch around a fire when they were startled by the appearance of two ghostly lights of unknown origin in the vicinity of some nearby hills.

One of them disappeared behind a small hill while the other placed itself at the foot of a mountain, flying over the area and engaging in approach-and-retreat maneuvers before the eyes of the disconcerted soldiers.

After three minutes of terror, corporal Armando Valdés, in charge of the squad, walked away from his companions toward the light. The young conscripts watched him vanish from sight for 15 minutes, during which their calls for him and their search yielded no result.

At a given moment, they heard the subofficer’s voice pleading for help, and they saw him walking toward them unsteadily. He had a dense growth of beard despite having been clean-shaven just minutes earlier, and the calendar on his digital watch was five days fast.

The startled conscripts settled him near the fire. And that was when he said, in a strange voice:” “You will never know who we are, nor where we come from, but we will return again.” He then fell asleep.

The case became a journalistic sensation and achieved global notoriety. But within days, its protagonists slipped into obscurity and Corporal Valdés became a legend.

Twenty-five years later, journalist and researcher Patricio Abuselme took up the challenge of reinvestigating the case and interview its main protagonists, an effort which is summarized in his book La noche de los sentinelas, an in-depth journalistic investigation on the incident, which he published in late 2010 under his own publishing house – Terra Incognita.

“This is the case that made Chilean ufology known worldwide. However, no one bothered to conduct a serious, in-depth investigation of the case. I took up the challenge in 2002, and it took me eight years to compile the protagonists’ accounts and reassemble this “impossible story,” says the author.

In less than 300 pages, Abusleme provides a comprehensive view of the case, from the first journalistic dispatches reporting the incident to exclusive interviews with the main protagonists, including subofficer Valdés (Ret.) – unpublished details and conclusions that the author has described as preliminary.

“When I started this investigation, I did so in the secret hope of explaining the whole case in conventional terms. And I thought I was well on the way until the main protagonist of the story debunked the cases most controversial aspects – the growth of his beard and the wristwatch’s date change – by providing conventional explanations.

The problem is that when I tried to corroborate it with the other witnesses, they provided a version that was mutually congruent, but at odds with the one offered by Valdés. For this reason, the book poses a controversy,” says Abusleme.

“If someone is looking for a story of mystics in direct contact with Martians, he or she won’t find it here. What they will find is information, information and more information. The outcome of a detailed journalistic investigation that enables the reconstruction of an intriguing real case that captured headlines over 30 years ago.”

CORPORAL VALDES CONFESSES: “TRULY, I WASN’T ABDUCTED”

TEMUCO, September 26, 2003 – In an exclusive interview with Terra.cl, legendary corporal Armando Valdes claimed that from the start he knew ha had not been abducted. From his home in Temuco, he stated that his story had been misinterpreted, “although the matter of the beard and the wristwatch was true.”

He likewise spoke about his current project: a book that should appear by year’s end in which he retells his version of the events which transpired on April 25, 1977 in Chile’s First Region.

Terra: Recently, you have been engaged in discreet research into your experience. Is this true?

AV: Yes, in fact I’ve been fully involved in developing my book and furthermore, looking into my experience, since I wish to be as factual as possible in my story.

Terra: As a result of this research, have you returned to the scene of the events?

AV: Yes, I went back in November 2002–25 years later… Pampa Lluscuma and the remains of the horse stables where the events occurred. There, in the company of researcher and journalist Patricio Abusleme, we recreated the events and made a series of measurements, gathering very significant background information.

Terra: How did you feel about going back?

AV: As you can imagine, it was shocking. It was the first time I went back after two decades. It was a motivating experience which allowed me, first and foremost, to confirm or recall certain details which were lost with the passing of time.

Terra: While much was said about the “abduction” of Corporal Valdés, there was none. What’s your version?

AV: Truly, I wasn’t abducted. This is the reason for sensitive nature of what I’m putting forth in the book. Some important background details are being released.

Terra: Did you think at any time that you had been abducted or did you always know this wasn’t the case?

AV: Look, it’s really complicated to explain all of a sudden. That’s the reason behind my trip to Putre, my scientific studies and the book I’m writing, because it’s all very complicated.

Terra: But did you think at first that you’d been abducted?

AV: I would say that I knew immediately how things had happened. What I’m explaining in my book [is making known]the reasons for which certain items went off on another track.

Terra: In other words, your initial story was misconstrued?

AV: Indeed. I didn’t think at first that I’d been abducted, although the matter of the growth of beard is true, as well as the subject of my wristwatch. But for this reason I have taken to writing the book to explain the reasons behind all of these things.

Terra: Lately you have been silent in the media. Why is this?

AV: What’s happening is that I’m engrossed in finishing my book. I wanted to work in silence until the task was done.

Terra: When can we expect the book to be published?

AV: In the book itself I say that it’s been a serious mistake to promise dates. Many special situations have occurred–some very strange things–but I’m making an effort to finish it by the end of the year. I’m giving it my all, since I’d like to finish it as soon as possible.

Terra: Any options to publish the book abroad?

AV: Yes, there have been offers from abroad, but I don’t want to entertain them until the book is finished. My greatest desire is for everyone to read it, since I have a message for all humankind in it. Therefore its publication in Chile or elsewhere is unimportant. We will decide where to publish it at some point.

Terra: I understand that you are a [born again]Christian and an evangelical. Is this true?

AV: Yes, I am, and a teacher of the evangelical faith.

Terra: How have your religious surroundings influenced your story? Or rather, how has your story been received?

AV: My story and explanations have been accepted to a certain extent, and I have told them certain things and in a certain manner. There are many who hold points of view different from my own and I don’t have to deny that there are contradictions. But as I said, the story is mine and they have not influenced me at all regarding my book. In fact, there are those who may agree or not agree with my book tomorrow, and will not stop what I’m doing.

Terra: Would you say that the experience you underwent in Pampa Lluscuma was more of a spiritual than a ufological event?

AV: There are mixed items. The term UFO today is contaminated by another type of thing, and I prefer to speak in terms of FANI (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena). I think that in my experience there is a bit of everything–a good measure of paranormal phenomena, strange effects, lights, many things acting in unison and this is what I am showing in my book, although it’s been hard for me to convey on paper what I felt, what I experienced and what really happened.

Terra: Finally, are you in touch with those who also took part in the unusual event and who formed part of your patrol?

AV: Yes, over the phone more than anything. For some reason we haven’t been able to have a closer relationship, but we are in touch by phone and I must say that we currently have disagreements over the events that occurred. Some are telling another story. – Terra Networks Chile S.A

On August 29-30, 2014 two men were on a fishing/camping trip at an Ohio state park (Salt Fork, Cambridge, Ohio). The older man (43) was accompanied by a young man (19) who was a friend of his daughter. The older man is a construction worker who owns his own business. They were camped by the lake shore with chairs about two feet from the water, and would routinely stoke the fire every hour. There was no one else in the vicinity. Late in the evening the two men saw a light low in the sky. It moved back and forth to tree top level. About 1:30 a.m. they heard a shrill ‘woman-sounding” voice. It should be noted that many stories of ‘high strangeness’ abound (bigfoot, hauntings, UFOs) at Salt Fork.1 There is a cave in the park with a waterfall where a girl supposedly died. The men became increasing nervous. After 1:30 a.m. the older man’s wife and daughter could not contact them. The men have no recollection of what happened for three hours. They became ‘aware’ at 5:19 a.m. in the morning. The fire was out. The men grabbed their belongings and changed clothes. As the older man changed clothes he noticed his shirt was inside out! It should be noted that no alcohol was in their cooler, only water.

There are two objectives of this analysis. The first is to identify any stains and spots left on various pieces of clothing for anomalies which may be related to the abduction. The second is to compare these results to two analyses, one done on the dress Betty Hill wore during her abduction and the other done on an experiencer’s tee shirt worn during an abduction in Winnipeg, Canada.

The following case was submitted to TBV Investigations on May 11, 2018. The witness is seeking advice and help from those with similar experiences. Due to the nature of the story, along with the evidence, this was not investigated (for now) by the team at TBV Investigations, but is being added to the database for informational purposes only.

Witness Testimony

The following was submitted by the witness:

“Okay I’m new to any personal ET experiences, I just sort-of encountered what I think to be ET.

So…. I have 6 new photos on my phone, all of which are semi-similar. All were taken in my back yard and they have, headlights from mine and my husband’s vehicle, the neighbors busted up fence, the street lights in the distance, and part of our sidewalk and yard. Nothing too odd right? You’d think so….at first.

Now I’ll explain why it is odd. My husband works third shift so we always leave at least ten minutes before he has to be at work (give or take a minute or two) so basically around 11:50, 11:48, or 11:52. When I discovered these pictures initially I was already startled considering they weren’t the last photos I had taken, and even more so to discover that they were taken at 11:54…..on this day we left a bit later than usual so it was around 11:56 I remember specifically looking at the clock when we arrived at my husbands work because we were mid conversation and I didn’t want to take up too much time so that he didnt clock in late, the clock read 11:58. His work is literally 3 minutes from our home IF you get stopped by the one light that is between there and our home. I know this because I have timed it. But to save everyone any argument you don’t even have to consider the time. The second thing we found odd was that in the photo you can clearly see headlights, we don’t start the vehicle until we’re both in it and I was the one driving. With that being said if I had turned on the vehicle how could there have been headlights in the photo? The third thing that I had found EXTREMELY odd is that my phone

A.) Has a fingerprint and pattern lock.

B.) Has a wallet type phone case on it (the ones where they flip open and inconveniently cover your camera lens.)

C. I have not clicked the (do not show this again) box that appears every time I open my camera, so it would had to of been bypassed in order for the camera to even work.

D.) The front facing camera would had to of been clicked if that’s what took the photos.

E.) There were some CONSECUTIVE photos taken, which would mean that a button (any that cause the phone to take a photo) would had to of been held down in order for this to happen.

Either way no matter what anyone has to say on the matter I DID NOT INTENTIONALLY NOR ACCIDENTALLY TAKE THESE PHOTOS. Since I found it very odd that this happened I began examining the photos and found things I THINK to be ET or other dimensional. If ANYONE could help me to figure out what type of message I’m being given, or what something/someone is trying to say id greatly appreciate it thanks in advance.

Yes the pictures are blurry some moreso than others, but again I did not take these photos, I haven’t not sent you any photos that have been edited or “fixed” and I also have two more than I was able to upload.”

One of the first programs I produced for television was entitled, “UFO Files: UFOs and the White House” which aired on the History Channel. I was the Associate Producer on the show, and I had the pleasure of visiting the Ronald Reagan Library to take a look at his Presidential Records for use in the program.

While researching the speech he gave to the United Nations where he referenced “an alien threat,” I made an interesting discovery in his own handwriting making sure what he called his “fantasy” stayed in the speech.

This is a very interesting piece of UFO history, and it clearly shows how important this reference was to Reagan to remain in the speech, despite his speechwriters trying to take it out.

The witness to these encounters, which would like to remain anonymous, submitted multiple videos and photographs of alleged alien encounters.

Although the first encounter was originally published without investigation, and was archived on The Black Vault for information purposes, TBV Investigations’ Jeremy Enfinger took over investigation when additional information was submitted by the witness.

Below, you will find the breakdown of Jeremy’s investigation.

Investigator’s Commentary

Communication with the witness thus far has been strictly written, mostly via email. I have not yet had the opportunity to have a conversation to discuss witness experiences such as hearing footsteps in his room, his potential abduction experience, or his physical evidence of a surgical procedure.

As always, the goals with this kind of investigation is to determine possible alternative explanations for the evidence being presented, which may or may not always corroborate the witness’s experiences, however, it is not necessarily performed in attempt to discredit the witness.

The Evidence & Analysis

Special interest has been given to the following photographic and video evidence as reported by the witness:

“02:30 AM – first recording shows something like time gate (black blinking hole near my windows – it could be a car but I have Venetian blind closed on windows – there isnt see anything).”

Time Gate: This video displays an effect that appears like some flickering lights near the window as initially reported, but also shows the same effect on top of a shelf on the left side of the screen. I have a 4-second clip capturing the anomaly, which I play 6 times at 3 different magnification levels (clip is played twice for each magnification), starting with the full-screen video, and including both the anomaly in the window and the top of the shelf where the effect is seen.

You can definitely see a light anomaly in this video over the window. This happens to be originated in the same exact spot in the window that the #5 photo of the alien head in the window can be seen (this will be important to consider when viewing possible explanations of that image). You can also see some pixelation and possible light on the book stand screen left accompanying each pulse of light in the window. It’s most likely a reflection of the light coming through the window due to the timing in the frames coinciding with the presence and illumination of the window anomaly.

The source appears to be coming from outside the window, as no visible light source was caught within the room, at least within the frame of the video. As future evidence analysis will display, there is a street outside with cars parked on the side, so car headlights, brake lights and/or blinkers could not be ruled out.

“… Next video I woke up and I had bad feeling like there is someone with me in the room – I started taking photos – this one what I send you captured grey head (in the video you can see me in the bed taking photos)”

The initial photograph submitted of the grey head beside the bed was incredibly blurry, and video analysis was performed after the initial analysis of the still photo submitted from the witness’s cell phone. A side-by-side comparison of the video angle with the still photo was made. Thankfully, the video displays the moment when the still photo was taken, and the cell phone camera angle could further be evaluated for strength of evidence.

As you can see in the video screen capture, we do not see an alien head. i believe what he is referring to is one of the pillows there, and have attempted to analyze line of site from his camera lens to objects seen in the photo below:

Object #1 looks like the left corner of the blue pillow seen in the video shot (with dresser handles above it and to the right). Object #2 shows the star’s close relationship to the other points 3 and 4. Object #3 is another corner of the same blue pillow. And object #4 (the “alien head”) is the edge of the other pillow with blue, gray and black – colored patterns, which happen to be similar colors when you think of the typical alien grey.

To further corroborate that the blurry image is that of a pillow, you can compare the outline of blurred objects in the foreground of the original image to the shadow outline as seen from the perspective of the video still-shot when the camera flash fired. Even though the angle of the cell phone camera and the video camera vary, the shape similarity between the outline of the pillows themselves and the shadow are significantly similar.

Several dust particles are seen in this clip at different regions throughout the frame. This is a common misnomer for many paranormal investigators who believe they are seeing “orbs” of ghosts, but the visual appearance is caused by the IR light reflecting in dust as it travels through the air in the room.

Note the “donut” appearance the dust particle travels in near the end of this clip. Other dust particles prior to this happen to be travelling in a straight line or slight curvature, however, this one seems to make circles and changes directions erratically. Also note that prior to this particular dust particle appears and behaves this way, the witness moves around in bed immediately preceding this. This is another indicator that it is dust, and it could be reacting to slight wind variations in the room, or could have even been ejected from a resting place on a surface in the room, into the air by the witness’s movements.

The witness provided several of his own photos to analyze this specific picture, however, and while the appearance at first glance resembles the head of an alien grey at face value, other possibilities must be considered.

The object does not appear to be a reflection of anything within the room, which was my first thought in considering alternative explanations, and also considering the photo was taken at night, it would make it more difficult to see anything outside, unless there were another light-source outside that would allow visualization in the dark.

Since no reflective surface could be identified within the room opposite the camera angle to the window, consideration of something outside the window was the next possibility. There are two distinct possibilities I considered.

First, the witness was asked to provide several recreation photographs of the camera angle in the original photo. Once several of those were viewed, the witness was then asked for his address.

It can be confirmed from Google Maps that the window is on the second story of his apartment building, but more importantly a few other pertinent details like the location of vehicles on the street opposite the window, as well as several street lights that could provide a light source at night to make objects visible through his window.

When comparing the zoomed in original photo of the alien head in the window to the recreated photos, it appears that several close, but not exact camera angles were provided. The same van shows up in three of the images, and some different cars do as well.

One possibility is the “eyes” of the “alien” could be visually created by windows of a vehicle that is not fully visible within the frame of the window.

I was also able to check the google maps link, and there is ample street lighting outside the witness’s flat. While it’s possible the object viewed through the window is either windows of a parked car, you can also see some trash cans surrounded by a low wall. It’s also possible these trash cans could have been rearranged slightly (from the configuration seen in Google Maps) to resemble the alien head. The curved black lids would compose the “alien’s” eyes and the stone wall surrounding the cans could possibly make up the “face”, with the corner making the “nose”.

Further analysis of the recreated photos were completed with special attention to the potential light sources available. Details from Google Maps and comparison to the original photo indicated several inconsistent angles in the recreated photos.

I believe the angles for the two recreated images above are not accurate. Need to move the camera to the left still. Notice the height of the street lights. Google Street maps only gave me limited ability to move left/right, but I believe I can demonstrate the street light he shows in his recreations is the wrong one. If he moves his camera to the left, you’ll see a taller light (screen right) outside the window and possibly the trash cans that are appearing to look like an alien face.

While these confirm the presence of ample lighting required to visualize something through the witness’s window at night, they also allowed for a greater ability to approximate the location of a car or possibly the trash cans outside the window at night, and further validate that the “alien head” could be one of these two things, which are similar in appearance.

I was unable to visualize any movement or manifestation of the alien head from any of the videos, so I cannot provide the exact video he believes this shows up in (a total of six clips were submitted). I am posting various screenshots for comparison. A lot of manipulation was needed to visualize anything. The “alien” visualized could possibly be a mottled effect (image graininess) produced by low signal to noise ratio that accompanies low-light images, which is multiplied when attempting to enhance images or change the raw data that was captured. I personally was not able to visualize any distinguishable shapes, so a possible explanation for the witness seeing an alien could be visual matrixing.

At some point in the near future, I would like to further this investigation to include an interactive interview regarding the witness’s abduction experience. He maintains that he is not 100% certain that the experience happened, but that some physical effects after the experience served as evidence that something, in face, was done to him on a surgical level.

Conclusion

After viewing the possible alternative explanations to the evidence above, I would like to invite the readers to compose their own opinions. Without speaking to the witness first-hand, I would like to reserve my own conclusions until a later time.

This was the letter I received from Italy (edited slightly for grammar/spelling but did not change context):

I want to share with you a little research. 

Analyzing with a simple ASCII->Binary conversion the “WOW!” signal received on 1977, I have noticed a strange figure.

It looks like an alien that is greeting with the left hand, and on the right I think it is a device like a microphone. On the top I think it is the radio wave from an antenna of the signal that the alien is sending into space and that we received. 

I also think they marked the top right with specific reason, maybe it is the zone where they sent the signal or the zone where they received the message of Arecibo. In this way this can be interpreted as a reply of Arecibo Message sent on 1974.  

This message was received in 1977, only 3 years after Arecibo Message, why nobody thought to analyze message in this way? Arecibo Message was composed by many strings of bit that make a figure (bitmap). A reply from the space would have to be composed in the same way.

They maybe not interpreted all Arecibo Message (The formulas for the sugars and bases in the nucleotides, atomic numbers,…). Maybe they only interpreted a part of message like the graphic figure of human and radio-telescope so they replied it using a similar figure. If they have drawn something complex no one would ever interpreted it. So they maybe drawn something that we can interpret easily, like a greeting.

“Hi: the aliens are talking to me. I got photos of it and photos of flying disk.They come in through the walls at night. I am in Benwheeler, Texas. I have so much more I can blow your mind. At a old Indian battle ground I got two disk and eight orbs and sixty white things flying around me all on photos. It’s a female alien talking to me. She likes me a lot. She said get ready and she flew out in front of me. I was in a flying disk with her. I am one man that is not a waste of your time.

I can change the world with what I got. I got about one hundred photos of alien technology. I have taken about 3,000 photos hunting aliens in three years. My work is convincing for sure. I hate to type all this on text. I can tell you better. Call me when you can any time day or night. I got to get this out.

If this is breaking the law, I will get a life sentence that is how good my proof is. I was at a Indian battle ground where 800 Indians were killed by 500 Texans. When I got there I took 360 photos. I got two disks and eight orbs on one photo and got about sixty white square things flying around me of alien technology.”

For those of you who follow The Black Vault, you will know I try to keep a logical, COMMON SENSE, approach to all things paranormal and conspiracy.  My detailed critique of the “Roswell Slides” gave those curious, but critical, minds something to reference as the story unfolded. The story ultimately ended up being a misidentified artifact, or possibly, an outright hoax. You decide which one – but it was NOT alien.

Now, only two years after that story broke, another “mummy” has appeared on the internet. This one, a three-fingered mummy, is being publicized by Gaia.com and investigative journalist Jaime Maussan, the same man who happens to be the one who publicized the “Roswell Slides” story above.

Please note: Before I get into this critique, let me say I am a friend to the Gaia network. I have appeared multiple times on their shows, and am friends with many of those who are involved with the network. My critique is NOT against Gaia, but rather, against the specimen being investigated. I mean no offense to any of those connected to this project, and offer my critique for those that are interested.  Also note that all images and corresponding photos are used for reference purposes, and the copyright is maintained by their respective owners.

According to Gaia.com, their mission statement is the following:

“Travel down a new road with Gaia, a member-supported conscious media company. Join our community of seekers, dreamers, and doers to empower your own evolution of consciousness. Discover over 8,000 ad-free, streaming titles to inspire and encourage curiosity. Everything is waiting for you; which path will you choose?”

On June 20, 2017, Gaia released the following promotional trailer on YouTube and multiple social network channels promoting their newest series of videos coming to the online streaming network:

Gaia posted a very simple and short description for this video:

A new anomalous discovery has been unearthed in Peru. Join Gaia’s ongoing investigation and decide for yourself if this is proof of a non-human species.

Within hours, it received hundreds of thousands of hits — and within 5 days — it was viewed more than 20 MILLION views on Facebook alone.  Case in point: the world was watching and they were interested. But is this exactly what it is being portrayed?

Let’s start to dissect.

In fairness, Gaia is not labeling this new find “alien” but rather, a “New Species” as tagged on their video.  They depict the mummy, with a graphical animation, looking like this:

It is this representation which has many to believe, although Gaia is not saying “alien”, they are implying it with the graphic resembling that of a “grey alien” often depicted in alien abduction stories.  In fairness again, “grey aliens” are humanoid in appearance given the many differing descriptions, so Gaia could not have ever escaped that critique by those who wanted to throw the implication.

So let’s move on.

There are many issues with the Nazca Mummy which have many, including myself, asking a lot of questions.

I found many different threads online talking about this story, many different websites touting it as proof of aliens, and even Snopes got into the action by labeling it a hoax — but to my disappointment — Snopes labeled it a hoax on their page, offering very little actual substance stating WHY it was a hoax.  So, I created this page to offer a much more detailed critique of this story.  This page will evolve as the story unfolds so check back often for updates.

The Problems

I think for the sake of this field of study, one must truly look critically at a story, and dissect all the angles before labeling it a hoax. Unlike Snopes, we can’t just label it a hoax simply because evidence has never supported the existence of alien life in the past, like they state on their page:

However, no evidence has ever definitively proved the existence of alien life, and countless “alien” discoveries have later been shown to be hoaxes or to have far more mundane explanations.

That’s an unfair statement to make, since Snopes themselves acknowledge that Gaia only posed the question of an alien, but never labeled it as such.

So, let’s take a look at the red flags (in my book) about this story, that will (hopefully) one day be addressed by Gaia, Jaime Maussan or by any of those involved in this research project.  They are listed here in no particular order.

1. The white plaster-like appearance of the Mummy is unlike others discovered from the same time frame and region. This is one of the biggest red flags, which is often cited by skeptics of this case.  No one can help but see a similarity between a plaster made model, and this mummy.  I began researching mummies found in the same region, from around the same time frame, and can not (at the time of writing this critique) find references that this embalming method was commonplace for the region.   You can see the plaster-like material disintegrate on the small platform as the mummy is handled. (This either supports the substance is very much plaster-like and possibly not an indicator of a real mummy, OR it supports the lack of scientific method used with this artifact, see below for more information on that).

   

   For reference, I was able to find a shelf full of mummies from the Chachapoyas, which was in present day Peru.  This photographs depicts many different mummies from the region. There are many examples to show, but I chose this one for the article. It was posted on Pinterest and is credited/copyrighted to Reuters/Mariana Bazo. The photo has nothing to do with the Nazca mummy discussed here and is simply used for reference purposes to show mummies from the same time and region.

   

   Although one mummy appears to be a similar, plaster-like appearance, I do believe that this is simply the lighting on the bottom right of the photo. Most (all?) are the normal tan appearance, while others were discovered wrapped.

   The lack of similar characteristics could be due to sub-cultural differences in embalming methods in the region, but again, I was unable to find any references to show similar looks/appearances of mummies around the same time.

2. The elongated skull is nothing new, or even rare, for the region. The elongated skull has added to the intrigue and the mystique of this find, but it is not rare for the region.  So, let’s just pretend for a moment this is not a hoax, but a genuine find.  The odds of it being “alien” and having similar characteristics to those cultures found in the region, at the same time, is pretty nil.  New species? This doesn’t rule that possibility out – but may be more of a deformity as the explanation, or just a downright hoax.

   

3. Lack of scientific method is hurting the validity of this study. There are many different things you can point out to show a lack of scientific method when handling a mummy that is possibly thousands of years old.  First, let’s take the location. It appears to have been shot outside, in the harsh climate air of Peru/South America, on a rooftop, backyard or patio. See this screen shot:

   

   As you can see, this is outside, and not in a laboratory setting.

   Also, let’s revisit this section of video:

   

   In this frame of video, you can clearly see the lack of proper equipment.

   The “table” the mummy sits on, is not much wider than the mummy itself. The dangers posed by this alone, puts the scientific method into question.

4. The lack of detailed information in any of the released material (as of the writing of this critique). There is a big question mark about a discovery, when the one making extraordinary claims can not tell you when, or where, the specimen was discovered. As of the writing of this critique, there has not been a single shred of any evidence, that this was discovered by a reputable (or even a questionable) archaeologist, scientist, historian, librarian, disc jockey, television producer or a paleontologist.  The videos simply skip this information, and go directly into the discovery itself.  To show this was or is a legitimate discovery, there should be more information given to the public about it’s origin.
5. The main player involved. Sadly, we can not get away from the main “promoter” of this discovery, Jaime Maussan.  I have met Jaime many times, and I believe him to be a very nice man, successful and very popular with his audience.  But we can not get away from the controversies that have surrounded his many stories over the years. Here are just a select few HOAXES that were promoted by Jaime Maussan, then kind of brushed under the rug as newer stories appeared.

   There has been a long line of these types of stories that garner worldwide attention, and even gain quite a bit of money from “pay per view” subscriptions, like the Roswell Slides story.  But after the limelight, after the money rolls in, they turn out to be nothing more than a hoax.

   Since Jaime Maussan is clearly featured in this video — one has to consider this possibility for this story as well.

6. The Team of Scientists is questionable. I am not one to say that  just because a doctor researches fringe topics, they are not reputable.  However, we do have to point out a few things about those featured as part of the research team that take away from the credibility of this story. Dr. Konstantin Korotkov – One of the main voices in the video, is Dr. Konstantin Korotkov. He speaks highly about the scientific importance of the Nazca Mummy, but researching his background, it is unclear why he would be one of the main voices (if a voice at all). All references to Dr. Korotkov, is about his research into Kirlian Photography.  One reference to his work appears on the Wikipedia page for Kirlian photography:“Konstantin Korotkov developed a technique similar to Kirlian photography called “gas discharge visualization” (GDV). Korotkov’s GDV camera system consists of hardware and software to directly record, process and interpret GDV images with a computer. Korotkov’s web site promotes his device and research in a medical context.  Izabela Ciesielska at the Institute of Architecture of Textiles in Poland used Korotkov’s GDV camera to evaluate the effects of human contact with various textiles on biological factors such as heart rate and blood pressure, as well as corona discharge images. The experiments captured corona discharge images of subjects fingertips while the subjects wore sleeves of various natural and synthetic materials on their forearms. The results failed to establish a relationship between human contact with the textiles and the corona discharge images and were considered inconclusive.”His background, and realm of main research study, is almost the complete opposite of what he is being interviewed about.  As a television producer, when we talk about archaeology in a documentary, we use an archaeologist.  When I talk about astronomy, I use an astronomer.  The use of Dr. Korotkov is very suspect.Dr. José de Jesús Zalce Benítez – Doing a quick Google search on Dr. José de Jesús Zalce Benítez, you discover he is the same one credited as being a part of the “Roswell Slides” research team who worked with Jaime Maussan. His testimony was that the slide depicted an alien, and since that whole story turned out to be a hoax, it does question the validity of this expert as part of this team and makes any conclusions he may draw very suspect.
7. Interested in the story? Be prepared to pay. I will not discount any story because there is a “pay wall” to access it — but you do have to question motive if there is one.  Using the Roswell Slides story as an example, to see the discovery and the “reveal” you needed to sign up, and pay to watch the event in Mexico.  It is unknown how many paid to do just that when the event was broadcast, but it is believed to be well into the tens of thousands.The dissemination of information about Unearthing Nazca, and the mummy in question, is behind a pay-wall to access as well. Meaning, you need to signup as a paying member to GAIA.com to see the story unfold.  But the difference here is it appears to be a running “series” so the information will be spoon-fed to the public.  This approach is admirable as they will reveal the information as it comes in, but it does prolong the necessity to keep your paid  subscription longer. The latter part of this point makes this suspect. Again, this point alone is not a sign of a definite hoax, and I believe they have every right to charge what they wish for access to their site and material.  However, a discovery like this should be written about and chronicled within scientific journals, and IF the discovery is that big, it should be released to the public for the betterment of humanity and our understanding of our place in the history books. But, that is just my way of thinking about such a revelation.
8. There are known, crafted, and artificial mummies being circulated in Peru and South America.

   On June 24, 2017, Nahuel Monteblanco of Cientificos.pe published the following article, as translated into English. I was forced to use an online translator, so please forgive any errors during that process. But I believe the information it displays is possible proof that this is a manufactured mummy that is not a true artifact from history, but rather, a mish-mash compilation of bones and tissue made to look real (and even alien) – but is not.

   Scam promoting illegal excavations and possible destruction of the national archaeological heritage

   This week again the archaeological theme comes to the fore, revealing how far we are from being a country that appreciates the history of the territory it occupies. We have an immense historical legacy, with cultures ranging from Caral to the Inca Empire, a great source of history and knowledge, and well cared for, could also become an immense source of tourism and income. In spite of this potential, we do not have a real system of protection of archaeological remains that works and with the amount of professionals who are in charge of the valorization of these, that study and validate every piece that is discovered. Today we have to bring to light the case of supposed extraterrestrial mummies , that is, bodies of non-human beings found in the Nasca desert, and that have been promoted internationally by people like the Mexican ufologist Jaime Maussan and his team of Collaborators, all of them researchers of paranormal phenomena and extraterrestrial life, none outside that circle .

   We contacted the Ph.D. Rodolfo Salas-Gismondi , in charge of the Department of Vertebrate Paleontology of the Natural History Museum of the UNMSM and associate researcher of the paleontology division of the American Museum of Natural History in New York, whom we ask to inform us more about. Here is the interview with the Ph.D. Salas-Gismondi, who analyzed this case and presents its chronology and conclusions.

   “First appears a man named Ronceros, who presented the remains through home videos on YouTube saying that they were true aliens. Basically, it presents the remains that are observed in the photos that made us arrive and are observed in the following video .

   After visiting the Museum – and certain other institutions – and seeing that no one would believe that story, Ronceros changes the script and says that they are representations of aliens (not true aliens) made by pre-Hispanic cultures using bones of animals and people. In this interview Ronceros enters into contradictions and can not support the veracity of the findings, even trying to undermine the Ministry of Culture ( video ).

   The mummy of Maussan is different from the one that Ronceros shows, it is a new mummy. My friend, the archaeologist Pedro Vargas Nalvarte, has seen directly the remains that took Ronceros to the Museum and clearly determined that they were false. The newspaper El Trome has published an investigation , related to the specialists who support the alien identity of the mummy. At this moment appears Jaime Maussan – journalist, ufólogo, hunter of ghosts -, who affirms that the mummies do correspond to true aliens.
   

   • The so-called Ronceros alien mummies are made of bone remains of humans and animals, in most cases mixed. The result is beings of humanoid appearance without any natural anatomical organization because the bones do not correspond between them. The human remains used are apparently archaeological.
   • The Maussan alien mummy is an archaeological mummy with the typical fetal position and known cranial deformation in pre-Hispanic cultures. From the x-rays that can be seen in the video , the whole skeleton of this mummy is made up of human bones. Even the feet and hands, which have only three long fingers, are formed of human metaphors and phalanges. The fact that this mummy has only three fingers and that the bones that make up these fingers are exactly the same as those of a human who has five fingers, has no evolutionary sense. If this creature had evolved three fingers, there would be other anatomical changes in the bones of the arms, hands, legs and feet, all these changes associated with the evolution of three fingers. None of this happens in the skeleton. In contrast, they lack the cuboid tarsal bone and apparently the external fingers. This mummy is an archaeological mummy to which two fingers have been removed and the number of phalanges increased to the remaining three fingers.

GAIA Update Video 6/30/17

On June 30, 2017, Gaia released this update video on their investigation. It is included here for reference.  I have reached out to Gaia, and offered to post ANY / ALL rebuttals to the above points unedited. Although this video addresses a date discrepancy on one of the images used in their video (good catch – but never thought that was an issue, and was never listed above), there are still many unanswered questions.

As of the writing of this message, I have not received any request to post any rebuttals or comments.

As of July 10, 2017, Gaia has continued to run (non-public) update videos chronicling this story. I am unable to post these, since they are behind a pay-wall, but they are worth a mention as Gaia has released more information on their journey. I just can’t publish them here.

Interview with Gaia – Added 7/11/2017

On July 10, 2017, I added the below interview (via email) that I conducted with Melissa Tittl, Director of Content Creation, from Gaia.  Let me first say a special thank you to Melissa, and Gaia, for allowing me to ask such skeptical questions. Please note, as I said to Gaia, I felt the overall details of the case and specimen were out there, and I did not want to just repeat what they had already answered, or what could be deduced from the videos.

I have a lot of respect to those (and this is directed to Gaia) for those who are not afraid of skeptical questions. So, my special thanks to Melissa for taking the time to address my larger concerns.

Here is the interview (I have not edited the interview in any way – and I have included my letter to Melissa, including her responses):

Hi Melissa,

Thank you for agreeing to speak with me about this. As I mentioned to you privately, and also printed publicly, I am a friend of Gaia, and my skepticism here is simply due to my skepticism on claims like this. I mean no offense by posing some of these questions, but rather, feel some of this is of key concern to many out there, and I appreciate you taking the time to address some of the concerns. I feel that is a strong indicator that Gaia is not afraid of the truth, and will meet skepticism head on.  I appreciate that!

I tried to be fair, balanced, and bring up valid points of concerns, which lead to my line of questioning below. For the record, Gaia has already done many interviews about this, most notably with EarthFiles, and I believe much of the substance of the find is found in those interviews. I do not want to waste your time and ask a bunch of repeat questions, so I am going to focus on the larger and more skeptical points which I feel have not been asked or addressed.

1)      One of the biggest concerns generated by the video, is the lack of scientific method when handling the mummy. I do not believe this is on the side of Gaia, as I was told the location of filming was dictated to you, rather than chosen, but were you concerned at all about how this specimen was being handled and the location it was handled in? If this truly is a genuine find (like a new missing link in our evolution, or new species, or new whatever) wouldn’t it be in a controlled, laboratory type setting rather than outside in that climate and handled the way it was? Is this a concern?

Melissa: You have to understand that we got word of this discovery and we thought ” lets check it out”.  We didn’t actually know what we were going to see. They told us to meet at that location and we did and that is where they brought out the big body. When they pulled it out did look strange. I think all of us were kind of taken back that it looked sort of fake but then other parts of it had real human like components. We just wanted to keep documenting the discovery.  I think it should be in a controlled laboratory.  Again, we didn’t know what we were going to see so on the advice of some of the people in the medical field there at the time we took samples.  We as Gaia were documenting this.  I have called many different organizations to be involved going forward so that we can hand this off to science. It has not happened yet but many people involved are trying to make that happen. The bodies are registered with the ministry of culture in Peru.  They will be giving their thoughts on the matter I am sure soon.  We are just documenting something that could be real, could be a hoax or could be something completely different.  Our job is to find out what it is and we really really want that to be backed up by science.  This might be a network where we have alot of different programming but this is something that is a bit different and we don’t want to speculate what it might be but rather have science depict what it might be.  We are here to give you the story.

2)      On the above note, although the specimen may be determined old by Carbon 14 dating, how can we trust any other potential discoveries or anomalies, as they may just be a result of contamination?

Melissa: I can’t answer if they could or could not be contaminated.  The team that we documented while we were there was doing the best they could. It’s interesting to note that there are several different samples sent out to labs for carbon dating results and they are coming up with the same date for the big body. I think that is interesting. 

3)      I was surprised to find that there is a man in South America who has, since as early as late 2016, been trying to “sell” his discovery of a three fingered alien. I learned no scientist took him seriously, so he changed his story, and now says they are fakes, BUT, his twist is they are fakes made by the Nazca people 1800 years ago and they represented the aliens that were seen back then (his wording). That could be interesting, but it appears he is just changing his original story and trying another one.  Surprisingly, his mummies have long, elongated skulls, and three fingers, nearly identical to the mummy in Unearthing Nazca. I tracked down this man (his real name is Luis Quispe), and he says openly your mummy is manufactured (but says that it was made by the Nazca people). He even has YouTube videos on how mummies like this are made.  Is this a concern of yours that he is largely considered a hoaxer and his mummies are nearly identical to the one Gaia has in Unearthing Nazca?  It seems like a strange coincidence…

Melissa: His name is Paul … from what I understand.  These items presented here are not what we took samples from and it is not what we were looking at when we were down there. Even those small bodies look different then the ones that we looked at.  However, it is a strange connection.  Could they be all be related in this way? We have to find out. I guess being a journalist i would say the strangest conclusion Paul came up with was ” they are fabricated but a long time ago”  Why?  Again our job is to get to the bottom of all these questions. I know there is a lot of them and we hope to answer them as we get results in and hopefully hand over to science. WE are basically saying we are looking in to it and we will publish the results as we get them.  

4)      Do you have any indication that this mummy is fabricated, manufactured or “not real” in the sense that although the “mummy parts” could be real and date back 1800 years, the specimen itself could be fabricated?  (I note the videos say no signs of glue – but there other ways to hold together pieces of bone and animal parts.)

Melissa: Yes I agree there are other ways to hold together body parts.  We are looking into this as well. I have several phone calls into experts that could possibly explain how this could be done.  This of course is something that hasn’t aired yet but the team at Gaia is looking into not only how it could be real but how it could be fake.  Again, I can’t stress enough our job is to document what we see and not to make conclusions based on assumptions.  No one in our company has said it is real.  

5)      Many criticize the main person involved in this, Jaime Maussan.  I have known Jaime for many years, and like him as a person, but there is no getting away from the fact that many of his discoveries have been proven fakes. I listed a few on my article, but most notably and recently, the “Roswell Slides” which was, of all things, a mummy.  He was highly criticized for publicizing this as an alien, and made people pay to see the full reveal. It is now considered it was all a fake, and Jaime has apologized on at least one occasion that I have heard.  With this growing list of hoaxes, what is Gaia’s response to that? Is this a concern at all that this list of hoaxes include an alien mummy, alien creature, a fairy and an alien photo?

Melissa: Jaime is going to do Jaime.  We happened to hear about this just like he did and we thought it was interesting.  There are alot of interesting characters in this mix.  Its not what people say or what they do its why they do them in the first place.  That is the work of a journalist.  Hopefully , we at Gaia get to the bottom of the scientific results. 

6)      As indicated in question 5, the Roswell Slides were largely touted as “alien.”  Among those giving that conclusion was  Dr. José de Jesús Zalce Benítez.  So, his inclusion in your video makes his conclusions highly questionable given his involvement with that.  Why should we consider his opinion now as valid?

Melissa: I cannot speak about the Roswell slides because I was not involved.  I do know the criticism that team got from the out come and it would seem that same team is at it again. However,  I find what he has to say interesting because some of the structural talk on the bones correlated with what the American radiologist said.  They are talking points based on observation but once again Gaia is documenting this meaning we will take all sides of the story and conversation.  What I would really love is for anthropologists and archaeologists to get involved. I would also like a university to give their opinion with a full forensic diagnostic. I invite that opportunity so our journalistic view of this can go even further.  Pieces like “Unearthing Nazca” are not supposed to make people upset but ask these questions: Who do we trust?  If someone would fabricate this why would they do it?  Why do people keep searching for evidence of ET’s?”  These are all valid.  Keep asking. Lets keep digging.  The only way we can get to the bottom of stories like this is not to dismiss them but ask why they exist at all.  I hope our team can uncover all angles.  

7)      The white plaster-like appearance to the mummy is unlike any mummy that I have been able to see in museums or online digital archives. Is this a concern for Gaia that although the “insides” date back 1800 years approximately, the sheer appearance of the mummy is unlike any others?  For the record, Luis Quispe that I mentioned above, said the white material was simply clay.

Melissa: We got the white powder test results in just yesterday and they are not JUST CLAY. I can’t tell you what they are yet but this is very interesting. Something we hope to get a Paleo-biologist and other forensic specialists on board to look at.

I also raise other questions/points in the article, which I welcome your response to. However, the questions above are my “top 7” that I feel are the most critical to address.

Conclusion

After my analysis, and considering all the available evidence thus far, it is MY conclusion that I label this a:

PROBABLE HOAX

For the record, however, I do not believe Gaia is the one orchestrating this hoax, but rather, they are documenting the evidence that is put forth to them.  I believe the the root of the hoax, if there is one, stretches back farther time-wise than their involvement.

Background

On June 13, 2017, the following statement was released on http://www.midnightinthedesert.com:

“Heather Wade received documents last night from a trusted source. She immediately had Stanton Friedman take a look at these documents who said, “I have never seen anything like this, this is new MJ12 information.” Stanton Friedman is going to continue examining these documents for authenticity, but at this time we can find no evidence of forgery. Midnight In The Desert is posting these documents for all to see, and should you refer to these pages publicly IN ANY WAY, you must credit Heather Wade and Midnight In The Desert as the original source.”

Many have asked what I thought, and although I do not like to just blindly dismiss certain “revelations” that may come forth, I have a long laundry list of issues with these documents.

Critique

Issue #1: TOP SECRET MARKING

Sadly, there are no documents that appear remotely close to the way these are displayed in the realm of REAL or guaranteed AUTHENTIC. The designation of “TOP SECRET” should be clearly marked on the TOP and BOTTOM of each page, and generally, with highly classified information, there is a codeword that follows “TOP SECRET,” for example, “TOP SECRET UMBRA.” (Please note: The security classification does not always appear on the top and bottom – but in many cases – it will. This isn’t a definite sign of a hoax, but it doesn’t help, in my book.)

To offer an example, TOP SECRET UMBRA was the designation for the UFO related “COMINT” reports found at the National Security Agency (NSA). Here is an example of one of those TOP SECRET designation stamps:

Issue #2: “CLASSIFIED” Stamps Used to Redact Information

This is a big red flag in my book, and generally, a no-brainer to show this is a HOAXED document.  If a document leaks from “the inside”, one can assume it is in the form that did not go through any declassification process.  In this case, since the document is labeled “DO NOT DISSEMINATE OR DECLASSIFY” we can safely assume, that process never took place, or never would have taken place.  So, this is, “The Original.”  In other words, how the President, and whomever else might have “need to know” access, saw the document.

The President of the United States, however, would NOT be given a Top Secret briefing document, with information redacted or in this case, stamped out “CLASSIFIED.”  This simply, would not happen — especially in the late 1980s when this document was created. Document handling procedures were decades in effect, and this element in the document would not be there.

Issue #3: Project AQUARIUS?

If this is truly a hoax, one can see that the hoaxer probably went to the 1990s, grabbed a UFO buzzword like Project Aquarius, and slapped it in this document. Problem is, I researched Project Aquarius many years ago, and it is nothing close to what this MJ-12 document (or the past references to it) allege.

Here is a screen shot of the official PROJECT AQUARIUS documents I was able to get declassified. The program is about ocean surveillance – not aliens.  Why is this important?  Because generally, project names are never repeated.  So, the likelihood that a TOP SECRET Project Aquarius exists (other than this SECRET one discovered and described below) is pretty nil.

Issue #4: The Interview

The interview with the alien just reads too much like fiction, a joke or just a writer trying to input too much politics.

Could you really imagine an alien saying what (s)he did, the way (s)he did? None of that part, on an intellectual level, makes sense. But beyond that, neither do the “facts.”

For example:

“Almost fifty years ago, you sent us signals. You were looking for us, and you scared us with a signal you should not have been capable of sending. So we answered.”

50 years ago? From where? The interview transcriptions were said to have been taken from interviews conducted April 1948 to March 1949, as done with the Extraterrestrial Biological Entity (EBE) captured at the Aztec, New Mexico UFO crash site on March 25, 1948. So, using that date, this would put humanity sending a signal, attempting to contact aliens, in the late 19th century, circa 1898.  This statement alone is wildly inaccurate.

The strongest signal that had the intent of contacting aliens, was first sent in November of 1974. It was known as the Arecibo Message.  It was sent from the Arecibo Observatory, and blasted to a star system that was overhead during the time it was scheduled, specifically, Globular Cluster M13. M13 is 25,000 light years away from Earth, which means, the signal would take approximately 25,000 years to get there (if it got there at all).  The return message, would take another 25,000 years.  That time frame, obviously does not coincide with this data.

Carl Sagan’s “Contact” popularized Adolf Hitler as the first “signal” when the 1936 Olympics were broadcast from Berlin, Germany. Some theorized that this strong signal would leak into space, and someone might pick it up.  However, that has largely also been debunked, since although the signal strength was strong for the time, it was not strong enough to reach into the Cosmos to any of our galactic neighbors.

There are many statements by the EBE in the “transcript” that can be dissected, but I think for the reasons outlined above, this is not necessary.

Issue #5: Formatting

I believe the date formatting is another issue in this document. The dates, as listed, do not coincide with how documents were written not only at the time, but to this day.

Here is an example from the document, which claimed to have been prepared in 1989:

Then a few pages later, in the same briefing document, the date formats differ and have dashes (-) and commas (,) where there shouldn’t be.

Here is an OFFICIAL/AUTHENTIC declassified document, also written in the 1980s, which formerly had the classification SECRET, which shows the standard date formats used by the Defense Intelligence Agency, the same agency that allegedly created these MJ-12 papers.

I believe this date format also shows the difference between the formatting of a genuine document and these new MJ-12 papers, allegedly written around the same time frame. I chose to display a slightly older document for comparison, to show also that the MJ-12 papers allegedly prepared in 1989, do not coincide with the look of documents created by the same agency, at roughly the same time frame.

Until further information is presented — The Black Vault is labeling this document a HOAX.

The Travis Walton abduction is well known to most people reading this. Suffice to say he was part of a logging crew on November 5, 1975 in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest. The abduction site is in the east central Arizona mountains, and is accessed only by old logging roads. After calling it a day, and with the sun going down, the crew of seven got in the truck to head home. As they traveled down the road, a UFO was spotted hovering off to the side. Travis got out, approached it, and was hit by a beam. The crew panicked and drove off, but quickly returned to find Travis missing. He was gone five days, and then reappeared just outside Heber, Arizona. For details on this event, see his site www.travis-walton.com or read Travis Walton’s book “Fire in the Sky”.

Though the event happened 40 years ago, soil samples were collected from the site, along with nearby control samples. It should be noted that besides 40 years of weathering, a massive forest fire occurred in 2002 which devastated the area. Still, it was hoped that if a permanent change was made to the soil due to the UFO’s proximity, it would be detected.

This laboratory is also in possession of wood core samples from the site. The trees were cored 24 years after the event in winter 1998/1999 by Mike Rogers before the forest fire. He sent cores to W. C. Levengood. Levengood passed them along to this laboratory September 2012. The core samples are intriguing because of the tree rings. Wide rings from the site trees show that from the time of the abduction in 1975, and for 15 years afterwards, they experienced rapid growth. Cores of trees just outside the site show no rapid growth. Furthermore it was observed in January 2012 that the wide rings are not concentric around the trunk. That is, they are elliptical and even wider where they faced the UFO. Some testing has been done on selected core samples and is not completed. This analysis will not be addressed in this report.

The objective of this project is to determine whether the analysis of the soils will detect any anomalies which can be related to an unknown craft (UFO). Also it hoped to be informative to other scientists/investigators that may be able to add input and further interpretation to build on what is found. It is also desired that the information and testing serves as a protocol for future testing of soil samples related to UFO events. That is, which procedures and tests should be done.

Note: While this project was personally generated and primarily financed by this laboratory, we must acknowledge and thank our friend and colleague Dr. Sampath Iyengar for discounting and partially donating his services for EDX elemental analysis and XRD characterization of the soil samples and magnetic particles.

Conclusions

• The composition of each the soils consist of primarily quartz, mica and feldspars (microcline) minerals with some humates (organics). Small amounts of metallic particulates are present which contain iron oxide permutations of hematite (Fe2O3), ilmenite (FeTiO3) and magnetite (Fe3O4). Quantitatively the amounts of these components vary between the samples.
• It is revealed that iron containing particulates amounts are higher in the site soils compared to the control soils. Furthermore, there is indication that the levels tend to be higher in the surface soils compared to the sub-surface soils of the site samples. This laboratory speculates that the hovering craft propulsion system has a powerful electromagnetic effect thereby drawing (and concentrating) these iron particulates toward the surface. This has been observed in the analysis of soils from other sites where UFOs landed or hovered close to the ground.1 It was more specifically noted that sample 2 contains less particlulates compared to the other site samples, but slightly more than the controls. Soil 2 is approximately where Travis landed after the beam hit him. Perhaps this suggests that the UFO was not influencing the metal content as much at this location.
•  The exchangeable cations (calcium, magnesium, potassium) are significantly higher in the site samples than the control samples. This would indicate some chemical changes in the site samples. The detection of the differences in cationic activity in the soils is intriguing. However, compositional differences, e.g. such as clay (microcline) content may affect the CEC values.  (The amounts of minerals were not determined.) It very speculative that the effect is due to a UFO, because the samples were collected 40 years after the event. But, it should be noted that this laboratory has analyzed substances from other events which were in proximity to a UFO. And, there is indication that while hovering an electronic force field surrounds the craft, causing an ionizing effect to materials in close proximity. For example, in the famous Delphos Kansas event, a craft was observed depositing what turned out to be mostly fulvic acids which chemilumenesced for almost two days. In Poland, a hovering/landed craft deposited vitrified soil chunks which glowed for months.
• We believe this analysis justifies additional examination of soil samples from the site. It was under sampled and more metal particulates analysis is needed for confirmation of their relation to the UFO effects.

“June 17, 2013 – White Powder, found inside Florida home by (Experiencer), on marble window-sill & behind electric fireplace

DETAILS: (Experiencer) has been interested in UFOs/ETs, etc. for many years; is (or has been) a “Field Investigator” for Florida MUFON. She has visually seen light-balls (BOLs) from time to time in her house, once in 2016 after a hurricane when there was no electric power in neighborhood & her house totally dark. Has done a lot of “sky watching” last several years and has videotaped “craft” & has found “puncture marks” on her body & strange bruises which look like “3 fingers” in recent years.

On June 17, 2013 she was looking for her cat behind her big flat-screen TV which sits on a wooden bookcase-like stand in front of a wide, heavily-curtained window in the living room, and found piles of white powder along the inside marble window-ledge. She associates no particular anomalous incident to this discovery.

From photos of very crowded living room I suspect this window is perhaps never opened & is usually (or always) heavily curtained.

On the same day or shortly thereafter, after seeing her cat staring at electric fireplace (off) which sits on floor under the TV (& therefore under same window), she pulled unit out and found more white powder behind it also.

She reports that before she disturbed a few of the piles of powder on the window-sill, it had all been deposited in more-or-less separate rounded piles. The powder dissolves in water & apparently dissipates (either is absorbed by, or leaks out or turns to a gas) in plastic bags, which is how she first stored it. The approximately 6 teaspoons she still has left is now stored in a glass container.

She says she sent a sample (apparently in plastic bag) to the Dept. of Agriculture (Florida State?, I didn’t ask) some time ago, but got no response back.

In discussions with friends (who are “experiencers,” or “psychics” or “mediums” they have told her it was a “gift” (from ETs, I gather), which she then felt meant it had “healing” properties, which made her “think of her husband” (who is quite ill). She has allowed one friend who has a bad knee to rub his knee with the glass bottle containing the powder she still has, after which he claimed he felt heat, first in his knee & then through his whole body, after which he tells her his knee problem has disappeared—and has not returned.

On September 17, 2016 she went to a lecture by (Name Withheld), a MUFON Field Investigator TRAINEE, whom she gave another sample. He had heard of me and BLT and so contacted me to see if I could help get the material analyzed.

I’ve told (Experiencer) to mail you directly 1 teaspoon, in a sterile (if possible) glass jar, along with a sample of the type of plastic bag she kept material in previously, (when it “disappeared”).

The object is to identify the white powder.

Conclusions

• The white powder is identified as a hydrated form of magnesium sulfate (MgSO4●xH2O x=ca.7).
• Magnesium sulfate is primarily used for therapeutic purposes. It is commonly referred to as ‘Epsom Salt’. It’s used in bath soaks, hydrotherapy, in formulas this salt has been hailed as one of the easiest solutions to some common health ailments.1 Other uses include: fireproofing, textiles (warp-sizing and loading cotton goods, weighting silk, dyeing, and calico printing), mineral waters, catalyst carrier, ceramics, fertilizers, paper (sizing), cosmetic lotions, dietary supplement.
• After considering the uses of magnesium sulfate it is not clear as to why the powder appeared in the locations it did. Mediums/friends told the Experiencer that the white powder was a gift from ETs which she felt had healing properties. This analysis cannot confirm the source, but as noted above it does have therapeutic properties. However, this analysis does suggest that the source of the white powder magnesium sulfate is not from ‘Epsom Salt’. The physical forms are different, i.e. the white powder is very fine particles, while ‘Epsom Salt’ consists of larger granular aggregates of particles.
• The magnesium sulfate was purported to disappear when stored in a plastic bag. However, microscopic examination of the same plastic bag revealed that there are white particulates present.
• ’Epsom Salt’ was ground into white particulates to simulate the white powder and placed in an unused plastic bag supplied by the ‘Experiencer’. It did not dissipate/disappear over a three week period. The weight remained constant. So it is unknown why the magnesium sulfate stored in the ‘Experiencers’ plastic bag disappeared.
• The Experiencer’s sample is not the same as the white powder found in a number of Robbert van den Broeke events which was a hydrated form of magnesium carbonate, specifically with formula (MgCO3)4•Mg(OH)2•5H2O.3 This white powder mysteriously appeared in several crop circles, on a small table in a home, and outside a balcony door.

Witness Testimony

SAS soldiers waiting to ambush IRA gunmen were stunned when aliens walked in front of their gun-sights, it was claimed yesterday.

The undercover troops – hiding near an arms cache on a hillside in South Armagh – say they saw up to four small grey figures.

The “aliens” and soldiers stared at each other for a minute. Then the “spacemen” disappeared – and seconds later the eight SAS troops saw a flash in the sky.

They were so disturbed by what they had seen that they took the rare decision to abandon the stake-out.

Their commander was furious – and their comrades in the elite Special Air Service Regiment laughed or accused them of being high on drugs.

But the eight stuck to their story and it was accepted. Now, four years later, it has been revealed to a Ulster UFO study group by a former Army intelligence officer.

Belfast-based expert Hugh O’Brien said: “We are trying to interview the soldiers even though some may be too embarrassed to come forward.

“We have learned that on that morning they were convinced they saw three, perhaps four, small grey figures in human form.

“At no stage did the soldiers feel threatened. They simply could not believe what they were seeing.

“The alien forms made no move towards them but judging from what the soldiers told their regimental priest and commanding officer, the aliens knew the soldiers were there. It was like a stand-off. Within a few minutes, probably much less, the aliens disappeared.

“All the men can recall is that in a very quick space of time they saw a brief flash of light in the sky.”

Mr O’Brien added: “These men were fit, highly-trained observers and to put it down to some flight of imagination would be absurd.”

The weapons cache was recovered by other soldiers.

A specimen which included a small fiber was removed from the back of an Experiencer on April 4, 2012. There is also a crystalline material included with the specimen. The object is to determine the composition of the specimen and crystal, and whether it could be related to an alien implant. Another specimen from the same experiencer was recently analyzed.

Conclusions

• The specimen is a multi-component mixture. In order of approximate concentration these include calcium carbonate (calcite), ester type material (possible glycerol type or sorbitan monooleate) and quartz. Visually noted is a fiber which is a minor part of the specimen. It could not be identified because of the interference of the other components. However, it is speculated to be of plant origin.
• The crystal is identified as sucrose which is commonly known as sugar.
• The specimen and crystal are not related to an alien implant. The above components are very common with many uses. Quartz (possible sand) and calcium carbonate (calcite) are common minerals in soil. There are other uses. The ester appears to be of natural origin, i.e. it’s commonly found in plants, human respiratory products, animals.

A fibrous material was removed from the right shoulder blade of an Experiencer on August 15, 2015. From email exchanges this analyst understands that at least one other ‘fiber’ was pulled from the Experiencer’s back in 2012. The object is to determine the composition of the specimen, and whether it could be related to an alien implant.

Conclusions

• The specimen is not an alien implant. It is of plant origin and has a composition typical to splinter from a piece of wood, i.e. cellulose, lignin, and hemicelluloses. This is confirmed by microscopic and infrared analysis. A small amount of blood is detected on the specimen.
• The shoulder location of the specimen is curious. It is certainly not a common place for a splinter to be found. If connected to an abduction, this along with a second fibrous material removed from the back in 2012 might suggest a clue to the environment or location surrounding the event.

The witness of this event is an experiencer who has had multiple paranormal events most of his life. A strange occurrence happened February 6, 2014 around 4:50 a.m. He woke up quite early (4:30), retrieved the newspaper from the mailbox, poured a glass of water, and sitting on the edge of the bed began to read the paper. The next conscious memory was waking up at 8:30 or 8:45 feeling disorientated. Shaking and trembling went on for 5-10 minutes.

When he went to the bathroom he noticed that the tee shirt he was wearing was turned inside out and backwards. It was placed in a paper bag and stored in a dark warm closet. He also noted a red v-shaped mark on his scalp. Also his cell phone with camera was on. The 1 minute 2 second video recorded a blackened dark room with neon blue/purple lights at the very end. The sounds, besides the television and his heavy breathing, included ruffling, static, clicks and noises of some kind. He noted there was pink discoloration on the shirt. Some of it appeared to fade over time. The shirt was sent to Kathleen Marden and she noted that it faded even more. Also, there was no fluorescence under UV light.

There are two objectives. The first is to look for any anomalous substances on the tee shirt which can be related to an alien experience. The second is to compare these results to those reported in the analysis of the dress worn by Betty Hill during her abduction.

Following is Kathleen Marden’s report of the T-shirt history.

“I asked him if the shirt had been bleached and he replied that it had not been. He stated that the shirt had definitely changed color and was not pinkish prior to the event on 2-6. I asked him to take photos of the shirt and gave him instructions on how to mail it to me in the paper bag. I worried that the evidence might be lost if the package was lost in the mail, so I asked him to cut a 2” swatch from the pink discolored portion of the shirt and a 2” swatch from the tan part of the shirt and retain them at his home. He mailed the shirt to me inside the paper bag that he had placed in a large, padded plastic post office mail bag. It was probably exposed to the cold during transport.

3-13-2014: I received the tee shirt in the mail. I removed it from the bag and laid it out on the paper bag that I placed on a towel. I noticed faint pink discoloration on the front shoulder areas and near the emblem on the shirt front, and two short lines of intense pink discoloration on the sleeve. I had anticipated seeing more discoloration than I observed, as the photos I’d received showed a definite pink discoloration. I turned the shirt inside out and inspected it. Pink staining was visible near the shoulders, on the sleeves and on the lower part of the shirt.

I wrote an inquiry to the witness and he replied as follows: “As I mentioned, when I took pictures it really stood out. I put it back in the bag and when I pulled it out again it didn’t seem as stained as before. The pictures were normal, untouched photos. Try taking some pictures and the areas should come out on film. When I took it out of the bag after 2 weeks it was visible almost everywhere, I took my photos right then and there.” (*I decided not to take photos of the pink stains, as I feared that the flash might destroy whatever evidence might be on the shirt.)

3-20-2014: I inspected the shirt again, before I mailed it to the chemist, and the pink discoloration seems to have faded even more. It did not fluoresce under a UV light. I mailed it to analytical chemist Phyllis Budinger in hopes that some of the pink substance has remained on the shirt.”

When the tee shirt arrived at Frontier Analysis very faint indications of pink remained. Over time, ‘almost’ all the tee shirt restored to its original color. Photographs were taken of the shirt, and it was secured in a resealable plastic bag for several days. A trace of gray material seemed to deposit on the bag. On opening the bag it quickly disappeared/evaporated. Therefore, no testing could be done on it. It was most likely moisture, because it was cooler when the shirt was sealed, and then placed into a warmer environment.

Conclusions

No physical substance could be identified as the cause of the fading/staining on the tee shirt. If a physical substance is the cause, it is either below the detection limits of the testing (trace amounts) or not there at all. It could have dissipated. Another cause may be exposure to some sort of a high energy source. Perhaps the source effected ionization to a higher energy state, on returning to a lower state over a period of time most of the original color of the tee shirt was restored. It was noted a cell phone, which happened to be on during the experience, recorded neon blue/purple lights at the very end of the recording.

The tee shirt is made of cotton. Mostly respiration products, such as perspiration (urea derivatives, acid salt) and skin oil (glycerol fatty acids) are on the shirt. There are indications of detergent residue (carboxylic acid salts, sulfate). Trace amounts of contaminants, such as paraffinic oil and a possible food crumb (particle comprised of protein, carbohydrate plus other components) are also present.

It was noted the respiratory products are more prevalent on the inside of the tee shirt. And, there were more on the inside back than the inside front. It is known that the witness found he was wearing the tee shirt inside out with the back in front of him when he regained consciousness. This suggests that major perspiration occurred prior to when the tee shirt was removed, i.e. in the beginning of the event.

There is no connection to the cause of the staining between the tee shirt and the Betty Hill dress. Something different happened to the tee shirt. Following is a table comparing various features of the tee shirt and the dress.

• Finally, this report really presents on-going research that should be built on in future testing of experiencer clothing. Future testing can be related back to the findings of this report.

The background as reported in the posted CMS file on the MUFON website1 reads as follows. “Witness contacted Oregon MUFON Asst. SD regarding an apparent implant removed from right adenoid or other glandular passage in his throat. Object has been secured by Oregon SD and will be submitted for analysis. Additional sighting experiences related dating back to approximately 1946 or 1947. These will be described in the complete report.” The objective is to identify the AFO.

Conclusions

• The sample is composed of primarily calcium phosphate and a small amount of calcium carbonate. Possibly a very small amount of calcium oxalate could be present. It is 3 millimeters in diameter and weighs 0.0524 grams.
• These types of calcium deposits (calcifications) can be found throughout the human body and caused by a variety of medical problems. The source is not from a foreign implant.

The background of this event was related to this laboratory via phone conversations with W. C. Levengood on 13 April 2009 and 13 July 2009. A witness in Arizona purports that he and his wife have had multiple visitations by entities.

On one occasion, in September 2008, he claims that three entities entered his home. He said he had ready access to a sword, and ran it through one of the entities. A red substance squirted across the room, and splattered on a window.

The ‘being’ looked surprised and disappeared. The red substance was collected and sent for analysis. The objective is to use infrared spectroscopy to identify this material.

Conclusions

The analysis show the red substance is a biologically derived material, that is, protein is the predominating component. Very small amounts of lipids also appear to be present.

The specimens are very similar to whole blood. Human blood is a close comparison, though further testing would be necessary for confirmation. DNA testing is recommended.

The background of this event as reported in an e-mail (3/11/2009) from Derrel Sims follows:

“At approximately 2:40 am, January 2, 2008 two Leyton, UT men (ages 23 and 32) were startled by a commotion outside their home, approximately ¼ mile south of Hill AFB. Simultaneously, both of their cell phones rang and caller ID indicated “unknown”. Both men left the house and were surprised to find two sets of footprints in the 8” deep snow.

Seven were approximately 2.5 feet long, with no entry or terminal prints, having three toes resembling a lizard track. The other set of footprints (also with no entry or terminal prints) resembled deer tracks without the dew prints. The men took several photographs of the prints using their cellular phones. One of the tracks contained a small piece of what appeared to be skin.”

The object is to determine the nature of the specimen found in the track. Following is a photograph of the sample:

Conclusions

• Analysis of the specimen shows it is of plant origin. It is similar in composition to a decaying leaf, i.e. decaying vegetation. Specifically, it is composed of a major amount of natural glycerol ester, some carbohydrate, and some protein-type material. The brown spots on the specimen appear to be fungal material.
• The claim that this is from a reptilian creature is unfounded because the specimen originates from plant material, not animal. Also, cold-blooded reptilian type creatures would not be expected to be wandering around in mid-winter and in 8 inches of snow. Because reptiles are cold-blooded, they cannot regulate their body temperature. So, they would become inactive and hibernate.

The witness was in the shower at approximately 11:45 a.m. on March 11, 2006. A substance fell out of her nose. It made an arch, then twisted and wrapped around itself. Initially it felt like cloth, then later, like hard material.

The object of this analysis is to determine whether this substance is an alien implant. Microscope photographs of both sides of the object follow.

Conclusions

The substance is identified as a man-made polymer. Specifically its composition is poly(styrene:acrylate ester). This is a common polymer and probably is plastic from some debris around the house. This shows the object is not an alien implant.

The background as described by the witness follows:

“About a month ago I woke up with a clearish, yellowish substance dried on my stomach and in my belly button. It was not on my nightgown or sheets. It itched, and when I scratched my stomach, it flaked off. I used the Q-tips to clean it up. When I told Richard Lee about this about a week later, he told me to keep the Q-tips, so I rescued them with the other Q-tips in the waste basket. I used 3 of them to clean up the yellowish substance. I didn’t have any signs of infection or other reason for the substance.

The next night I woke up upside down in my bed, like I had been thrown there rather carelessly. I don’t end up that way in my normal sleep. I don’t have any memories of anything happening. The night after that, I woke up with a very small amount of the yellowish substance on my stomach again. I think I cleaned that up with a wash cloth.

After one of these nights I weighed myself and found I was 10 lbs. lighter than I was the night before. I think that was after the 2nd night when I woke up on the bed wrong, but I can’t swear to which night it was. I honestly felt like I’d been given an alien amniocentisus after the first night, and that they had done a follow up on the third night. I did go to the doctor, and I’m not pregnant now so far as I know and they did do the tests. I’m also having problems with a hyperthyroid if that can play into any of this.”

The object is to identify the substance on the Q-tips.

Conclusions

• The analysis shows the substance on the Q-tip consists of an inorganic sulfate and a protein-type material. Specifically, the sulfate may be ammonium sulfate, and its origin is unknown. The protein is from a biological source such as fluids excreted from mammals, which would include humans. This material is similar to materials such as lymph, mucus, perspiration, and blood plasma. The specific identification remains elusive. It is my opinion that the biological material originates from the witness. The substance was noted to fluoresce under UV light.
• It should be noted that a trace amount of long chain carboxylic acid is indicated. This is thought to be from outside contamination.
