This famous case is well documented in many publications and on many internet web sites. The reader is directed to these easily locatable literature references for the details. The reader is especially directed to the classic book on the event, “The Interrupted Journey”1, and “The UFO Encyclopedia”2. A brief scenario follows.

On September 19, 1961, Betty and Barney Hill, along with dachshund “Delsey”, were returning home (Portsmouth, New Hampshire) from an extended weekend pleasure trip to Canada. Their itinerary took them to Niagara Falls, then to Montreal, and home. They were traveling south on US Route 3 in central New Hampshire. At approximately 10:15 they noted a “bright star” which appeared to move erratically. They continued to observe it as it apparently paced them and got closer and closer. Barney stopped to retrieve a 0.22 pistol from the trunk. After resuming the drive, both Betty and Barney looked at the object through binoculars. They observed a spinning, flattened circular disk with multicolored lights on the rim. About two miles north of North Woodstock, the object descended and hovered about 100 feet in the air.

No spinning was noted. A blue-white fluorescent glow shone through its windows. The object appeared to be the size of a 4-engine aircraft. Barney stopped the car and got out. He could see several uniformed, human-like figures. He suspected they were about to be abducted, jumped in the car, and raced down the road. Suddenly an irregular beeping sound was heard. The Hills felt a tingling sensation and became drowsy. The next thing they remembered was a second series of beeps as they were passing through Plymouth. The craft was gone. Two hours of missing time were noted. They both felt clammy and dirty, and Barney suffered other physical problems. Hypnosis of both Barney and Betty suggested they had been abducted. Both Betty and Barney were subjected to physical examinations. Further details of what may have occurred can be found in previous cited references. The object of this report is to document the analysis of the dress worn by Betty Hill during the abduction.

Conclusions

1.) The dress fabric is identified as a cellulose acetate knit. The discolored pink/magenta areas of the dress have suffered chemical effects on both the dye and the fiber. These areas also appear to contain more particulate material than a control. The fabric is coated with a biologically derived material which is composed of mostly protein (both water soluble lower molecular weight and insoluble higher molecular weight) and a small amount of natural ester-type oil. There is evidence that this material originally contained moisture. (See Conclusion 2.) This material is predominantly present on the discolored swaths. (Very small amounts are present on the control.)

More of the substance is on the exterior surface of the dress than on the interior for Swaths #1 and #2. This evidence shows the substance originates from an external source. The material has completely permeated swath #3. There is indication that the pH is more acidic than the control. Some of this protein and natural oil may have suffered some degradation. Very small amounts of individual particulates consist of materials one would expect to find on a dress which has hung in the closet for four decades, i.e. house dust, pet hair, and assorted natural and synthetic clothing fibers.

2.) Like the outer fabric, the lining is also identified as cellulose acetate. However, it is woven. The lining is not discolored, but has a few stains. The fiber in the stain area has not suffered damage. The stain material appears to have almost permeated the lining, though there is slightly more on the side facing the outer fabric. The stain contains, in part, components found in the exterior fabric. These are mostly water soluble proteins and a trace of natural ester-type oil. This suggests the stain is a result of “bleed through” of some of the material found on the outer fabric. It also indicates moisture had to be originally present in the substance. No higher molecular weight insoluble protein is present. Thus, the outer dress fabric apparently served as a filter for the higher molecular weight material, as well as some of the natural oil. Finally, after the stain was removed by solvent extraction, it returned to its original color. So, the dye was not affected by the components of the stain.

3.) The above results clearly rule out any natural substances originating from Betty such as urine, perspiration and vomit. This material came from an external source ruling out urine and Betty’s perspiration. Also, no uric acid was detected further eliminating urine. Vomit was easily eliminated because of the location of the discoloration, which occurs behind the dress and on the underarms etc. I would expect considerable solids deposited on the front of the dress. Only microscopic debris typical of a dress which has hung uncovered in the closet for a long period of time were detected. Also, there should have been a significant amount of carbohydrates present. These were not detected. Additionally, there was no bad odor.

Summary

A man recounted a strange episode that occurred in Mar of 2016 at his apartment in Syracuse, NY. He was in bed around 2 to 3 AM. He saw a green glow emanating from his hallway and then saw a creature emerge from a closet in his bedroom.

He first thought that the creature was a cat, but realized that it had big eyes and a bald head. The creature made no sound other than it’s movements (rooting around the closet).

The next thing that the man remembers is waking up around 7 to 8 AM two days later. He was not missed at his job because he was self employed as a handyman. He was subsequently evicted from his apartment because he couldn’t afford his rent. He is now visiting his mother in New Orleans, but still lives in Syracuse.

I spoke to the witness on the phone.

He apparently did not report the sighting until he found other similar reports on the internet. He wishes to remain anonymous, but really is sure of what he saw.

Witness Has Consented to Use of His Full Name in This Report

Description: Dan Ragan recalls going to bed when he was five years old and instantly seeing the sun come up.  He said that his mother tucked him into bed at 10 PM and in an instant the sun came up and it was daylight.  He said that he never even closed his eyes.  He went into the bedroom to see his mother at the time (8 AM the next morning) and she was sound asleep. 

He was not ill and was not taking any medication.  He recalls nothing of the missing time and his mother or father did not experience anything unusual.  Both parents and himself were in the house at the time of the incident.  He has discussed this experience with his wife over the years and upon seeing the Peter Jennings ABC Special “Seeing is Believing” made him decide to report the experience.  

Investigator’s Notes:  I have spoken at length with Dan and his wife about his experience. 

Dan says that he never forgot this experience and that he discussed it over the years with his parents and his wife.  He has had no problems as the result of this experience, but still to this day does not know what happened.  My assessment of the interview is that Dan is credible and firmly believes that this happened to him. Could Dan have been abducted?  What caused the missing time? 

Why did the sun rise immediately after his mother turned the lights off in his room?  (Ten hours went by in a split second.)  I have checked the National UFO Reporting Center for sightings in March of 1964.  Only two sightings were reported and neither were near where Dan had his experience.  I have also checked the Air Force Project Bluebook files for sightings in this area in March of 1964.  No sightings were reported anywhere in Illinois in March of 1964.

Description (In Witness’s Own Words): In May of 1972, at 7 PM in the city of Cotton Valley Louisiana, 2 of my children and I were at home and we were sitting my uncle’s little dog. At 7 PM each evening, we would let the dog out and watch him. We always liked to be in before dark for there were wild animals “Cats” around. My children and I went out to watch the dog when I heard one of my children yell look Mom, Lights!!!! I looked to where they were pointing and it was to the the east and there were the brightest lights I think I have ever seen.

They were pulsating and there were four colors which blinked on and off. They were red, blue, green and almost golden yellow and I noticed they changed colors as they blinked and I remember we were watching this round shaped object and then it was directly over us and I remember looking up and feeling the heat.

I remember thinking a wheel within a wheel! I looked up into something I cannot explain! I remember thinking how beautiful! How peaceful! I remember my children were standing one on each side of me and I hugging them. Then! It was like being awakened! I told my children to come on and go inside. I remember thinking it sure did get dark quick! When we got back inside the house I looked at the clock and it was 9 PM!!! I know we went out at 7 PM and what happened to the 2 hours? It was 9 PM!!!

It haunts me until this day where did the 2 hours go? What happened to us within that 2 hours we don’t remember? What was this round object that appeared to be a wheel inside a wheel? Where did it come from? Why can’t we remember what happened within the 2 hours? Until this day we do not talk of this incident. It is as if we aren’t supposed to. I cannot explain this. At times I relive it. I am 64 years old now and I suppose this is the strangest thing that has ever happened to me.

Investigator’s Notes: The witness is accurately recounting a frightening incident and an experience of missing time. Other than the exact date the witness seems to recall considerable details of her experience. It would be good to talk to the witness’s children about the incident. Any updates will be posted.

Description (In Witness’s Own Words): iI just was sitting in my pickup watching my brother and his girlfriend driving over hill when I turned to look over my left shoulder. I saw a big orange ball spiraling through the air coming toward me.

The next thing I know I was looking ahead and my brother’s headlights were coming over the hill and I turned to look over my left shoulder and the orange light was changing colors as it sat on the ground. When it turned white it shot straight up. It seemed only a minute since my brother had left but it was over two hours and I don’t remember a thing.

I have never reported this until now as I still wonder what happened to me that night.

Investigator’s Notes: The witness is describing a close encounter. However, the report is confusing in that it is unclear how the experience transpired. It sounds as if his brother left his location and then returned two hours later, but this is not known.

He also says that the object landed, but doesn’t mention any details about a landing. I will be writing the witness to obtain more information. Any updates will be posted.

Description (In Witness’s Own Words): In September 1974, I applied for emergency leave to drive to Alabama to bring my wife and older son home to California. The evening I left San Diego, I drove east past El Cajon and was following what seemed like the quickest path on State Highway 10, now I-10. I arrived in Phoenix, Arizona just before midnight and proceeded to fuel my car. Once that was done, I again headed East on highway 10.

Approximately 5 miles after getting on the highway, I noticed a bright light positioned at about the 3 “o” clock position above the horizon, north and east of my position. I left Phoenix right at 12 am in the morning.

By now from my previous event, I am pretty spooked by lights in the sky of any kind. I kept trying to focus on my driving, but found myself somewhat pre-occupied with this strange light. It kind of looked like an automobile with it’s head lights on high beam positioned on a small mesa, about 3 miles from my position. It’s like I just blinked my eyes, and out of the corner of my eye I see what appears to be a city limit sign going by. I missed the name, but felt somewhat disoriented, continued to the next off ramp.

There is the name Gila Bend. At this point I pulled my car over to side of the road, wondering what is going on. I look at my watch and it is now a little after 5:30 am in the morning, I am in Gila Bend, Arizona and my last conscious thought is of the light, at 12:10 am outside Phoenix, Arizona.

I couldn’t believe I had driven over 200 miles and not remembered having done so. I know you’ve heard of this stuff before, really have you heard this one. I check my gas gauge and it read full. Not believing what I was seeing, I drove to the nearest gas station and proceeded to fill the tank. It took less than 1/2 of one gallon to fill the tank. I have never before or since been able to equal gas mileage like that, although I wish I could.

End of Story – Not Quite To this day, I have had NO CONSCIOUS MEMORIES of the event.

Investigator’s Notes: This is the second sighting that I have received from this witness.  This experience is intriguing given that the witness lost 5 hours of time after sighting the light and then did not use any gas in the nearly 200 mile trip. 

What really happened?  I plan to conduct some more interviews with this witness.  He is still shaken from this and other experiences that he says that he has had.

Description (In Witness’s Own Words): I have only shared my story with three other people in 24 years . It was two in the morning in El Paso, Texas and I was making a 45 minute drive from my girlfriend’s house . All I remember is getting on the freeway, then off. The 45 minutes was gone with no recollection.

I was sober and have never been into drugs. Immediately after this, I began to have trouble sleeping, with nightmares that have slowly escalated over the years. I developed an undiagnosed rheumatic disorder and a small circular hole in my finger that recurred off and on stinging painfully. Eventually I pulled a polyp out of my finger.  After this the hole healed. 

Anything concerning aliens, space, or aliens intrigues me in a haunting, nostalgic way. (I am drawn to it.) Twice I am sure that I saw an extraterrestrial vehicle.  (I have no proof of this.) I feel almost like I was being watched. I am currently on anxiety medication. I have been reluctant to be hypnotized and do a regression.

Investigator’s Notes:  This witness clearly feels that he has been affected by an experience that occurred 24 years ago.  Given that he drove home at 2 am and doesn’t remember 45 minutes on the freeway is interesting. 

One could say that he was tired and not aware of the passing time during his drive home.  I am still in touch with the witness and would like to find the date of his experience.

This is one of the cases that are open to speculation.  Hypnosis or an in-depth interview might reveal more details.

Description: Witness reported seeing a large boomerang shaped object. He was only 11 years old at the time of the sighting. He said that the object had both green and white lights. He said that the object moved very slow, shot straight up and disappeared.

He was walking from his friend’s house to his home at the time of sighting. He was going home for dinner and left his friend’s house at 6 pm. He arrived home at 8 pm. His mother was worried and wondered why he arrived home two hours late for dinner.

He stated that his house was visible from his friend’s house.

He noticed a scar that had a “polka dot” appearance and ran from his calf to his knee. He first noticed the scar two weeks after the sighting. He said that he still has remnants of the scar.

Investigator’s Notes: This is another case that solely rests upon the credibility of the witness.

I have had reports of missing time cases that have occurred in association with UFO sightings, but this is the first case that I have received where missing time occurred in associated with boomerang shaped craft sighting.

Description: Witness stated that he was driving eastbound on Highway 50 (see map above.)  He noticed four lights to his left (towards Virginia City and Reno.) 

The lights began getting bigger and approached his vehicle.  In the next minute or two he was staring at a large craft with bright windows.  (See drawing above of the craft.) He saw several beings in the craft.  (See drawing above of one of the beings.) 

The next thing that he remembers is driving eastbound into Dayton and it is 8 am. 

(The distance traveled was only a few miles – see map above.) He lost about 9 hours of time.  He remembers very little in this 9 hour time period. )

Investigator’s Notes: The witness said that he was dramatically affected by this encounter.  If his account is true, it would be easy to accept this statement.  The witness made several drawings of the craft and several of the beings that he saw with the craft. 

He stated his experience in considerable detail.  I doubt if anyone would go to this trouble just to tell a hoax.  The witness has asked for complete anonymity and has not requested any compensation. 

I think that the witness may be truthful, but like most encounters of this type the validity of the case lies solely with the statements of one witness.

Description (In Witness’s Own Words):  Me and my friend saw what we thought was a full moon with a thick dense ring of smoke around the moon, as we watched the ring was pulsing and getting bigger it was like something was in it. We thought it was getting bigger than realized it was coming down we were engulfed in this fog that seemed to be alive then I snapped out of this daze starring back at the moon this all lasted about 5 to 10 min. I thought that my friend told me the time and I was blown away! 2 and a half hours were gone. Please email me of what we witnessed please.

Second Witness Report (In Response to My Questions): Hi, thanks for replying it was the 2nd week of October, 2004. The sky was clear with a  5 to 10mph breeze.  Yes, my best friend also witnessed it. I reported it to 3 or 4 different sites on the Internet but got no response. You  are the first to respond. It happened in town and the weird thing is my friend said when he walked out side his fence to garage the whole thing disappeared, but when he came back inside the fence it was there again. His girl friend was awaken by hearing us screaming and yelling, which I don’t remember us doing then she said she just went back to sleep. Normally she would have been right up. After I snapped out of this daze I went right inside my buddy said he fell down disoriented. I felt motion sick and had a headache for about 3 weeks.We talked about getting hypnotized but were chicken I guess. I hope this helps please let me know if any thing like this has ever been sighted.  Thank you it means a lot.

Investigator’s Notes: The witness has been very responsive to my inquiries.  He asked me about hypnosis.  Given that fact I am doubtful that this case is a hoax.  It certainly is a strange case and involves missing time as well as temporary physical effects.  I have no explanation for what the witnesses encountered.

Description: The witness wrote a detailed report of her experience. She and her family were visiting her son in Mt. Clemens. (She remembers the date because it was her son’s 16th birthday.) The witness related that her daughter, son, and brother left Mt. Clemens for the normal two hour trip to their home in Olivet. (See route on above map.) She said that they saw the lights of East Lansing (close to home) and then in an instant they were close to Grand Rapids (about 70 miles to the northwest of Lansing.) The witness recalls turning the car around to go back to the correct route and then again a “lapse of time” occurred. She said that in an instant they were where they were before (approaching East Lansing from the East.) They then drove home. Messages awaited them on their answering machine because they arrived home two hours late.

Investigator’s Notes: This case is somewhat confusing and lacks corroboration from the other witnesses. The primary witness says that the incident has never left her mind. She did say that she has taken wrong turns and exits before, but says that did not happen this time. Her brother denies that it happened and her daughter refuses to discuss it. No UFO sighting was associated with this incident. The witness did say that she has sighted UFOs before this incident. We are attempting to obtain more information about this case. Any updates will be posted.

Description (In Witness’s Own Words): A friend and I were walking across Ilkley Moore and saw strange lights in the sky. We had a camera with us so we took some photos of them. They then zoomed accross the sky and then above us. The next thing we remembered was waking up 10 hours later. It was only through regression that we learned that we had been abducted by aliens. They had grey skin with large black eyes. Their bodies were also grey and looked skinny. They had no nose or ears and communicated with us telepathicaly. The told us not to be afraid and that more of them were coming. They said they had taken us into outer space to learn more about our race. There was then a bright light above me they said were scanning me. They then did the same to my friend and then returned us back where we were before the encounter.

Second Report by Witness: In response to my request for photos taken during the event the witness said that the photos “turned out blank.” Witness also stated that both he and the other witness were hypnotized by his cousin. The witness said that his cousin had four years experience in hypnosis.

Investigator’s Notes: This case could be a hoax or misperception. I have written to the witness again to find out about his regression session. Like most abduction cases this case cannot be proven to be true. Any updates will be posted.

The witness says that he was watching a video one night in February of 2007. Something on the video made him feel compelled to go outdoors. He felt that he was being watched. He went outside (at his residence) at about 11 PM MST. The next thing that he remembers is talking to his mother in the kitchen of their house at 3 PM the next afternoon. He said that he remembered nothing from 11 PM the previous night. His mother had apparently asked him what he wanted to eat at 3 PM the next day and he recalls nothing before then. He said that went to school that day, but has no recollection of being in school. He said that he has had some flashbacks of “bright lights” and hands moving across these bright lights. He waited to report the incident because he was afraid of ridicule. He said that he was 16 years old.

Investigator’s Notes: The witness seemed sincere in his report yet he would not talk about the video that he watched right before the incident occurred. He said that he was physically and emotionally healthy and wanted to explore his experience with a professional therapist. His story needs to be treated with caution because he won’t discuss the video that he watched. This seems to indicate some unreasonable “paranoia.” His experience also may be medically related (e.g seizure) although he said that he has not been treated for any physical or mental ailments. I plan to have another investigator interview this witness. Any updates will be posted.

Description (In Witness’s Own Words): The day of the sighting, my brother and I were sitting in his car at my house. It was just about day break. The date was 6-18-90. The location of the sighting, was at 50. Milne, St, Bridgeport, CT. As I got out of my brother’s car, I heard this strange sound. I didn’t know where it was coming from. I started to look around. The sound was unlike any other sound I have ever heard. I looked over to were Spaterchenos funeral home was, and there hovering over the funeral home, was this sting ray shape like object. The object was dark in color. The size of the object was huge ans was about the size of two football fields put together. It hovered about ten feet over the funeral home, for about 15 seconds. I was more amazed then afraid. I walked over to it, to get a closer look,and noticed dark square shaped openings on either side of the craft. It was shaped like a sting ray, but without a tail. I then ran back to my brother’s car, screaming, and shouting for him to get out of the car and take a look at what was going on. He then jumped out of his car thinking that something happened to me. When he looked up, and saw what I was pointing at, his mouth just dropped. Then I heard him say, that it was covering the entire sky. We jumped back into his car, and I could see the look on my brother’s face of unbelief. He then said to me what do we do now? I looked out the car window, and noticed that the object was moving away from the funeral home. Then at the blink of an eye the ship was barely noticeable in the sky. I then said to him lets follow it. We were able to keep sight of it, and followed it, until we ended up by the Connecticut sound. There we were able to keep sight of it, but I nor my brother actually remember when we lost sight of the object. I remember leaving the area of the last sighting, which only took us ten minutes to get there, but by the time I arrived home it was six hours later. For which to this day I still can’t explain.

Investigator’s Notes: The witness has described quite an experience in elaborate detail. The witness has not responded to my followup questions. Given this scenario it is difficult to say much about this experience. The fact that the witness did not respond to my questions suggests that the report could be a hoax.
