The Black Vault – Document Archive

Welcome to The Black Vault Document Archive
Current Government Document Page Count Within The Black Vault: 3,861,432
The Black Vault is home to one of the largest privately maintained archives of declassified government documents in the world. With nearly **4 million pages** of records available to explore, the collection spans decades of government activity and covers subjects ranging from intelligence, military operations, and national security to UFOs, scientific research, historical events, and countless other topics of public interest.

Every document, photograph, video, and record contained within this FOIA Document Archive was obtained through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) or other public state level Sunshine laws used to access government records and public information.

The archive began in 1996 when, at just 15 years old, John Greenewald, Jr. started filing FOIA requests in pursuit of answers hidden within government files. What began as a personal effort to uncover information evolved into a decades-long mission dedicated to government transparency, accountability, and public access to records.

Today, The Black Vault serves researchers, journalists, historians, students, and curious minds around the globe, preserving and providing access to millions of pages that might otherwise remain buried in government filing systems or even destroyed forever. Whether searching for a specific document or diving into a subject for the first time, this archive exists to make government records easily accessible to everyone.
