The following case was submitted to The Black Vault / TBV Investigations. It was assigned to Monica Salazar for analysis and investigation.

Witness Testimony

The witness submitted the following testimony: 

“My friends and I were walking across campus to get food when one of my friends spotted a triangular object in the sky. I only saw the triangular object for about 15 seconds so I was not able to snap a picture, but I attached a sketch of what the object looked like. The triangle was black, with a white light on each end of the point. I was able to notice some faint lines on the object due to the brightness of the lights on it.”

The Analysis

During this investigation is was a bit difficult to conclude, I was unable to communicate with the witness at all. After multiple attempts at email and phone I was advised to complete this case as is.

The witness was very good about describing what he saw that night, to the extent of even being able to drawing a picture of it.

The witness was also able to submit a report to NUFORC (National UFO Reporting Center) where he posted this:

“Triangle UFO seen above Rochester, NY.

On February 21st, 2018, at around 8:30pm-ish, my two friends and I witnessed a triangular shaped UFO near St. John Fisher College. The object was a large black triangle, with a bright light on each end of the object. The object also had grey lines on the bottom, which were visible as a result to the light. 

My friend pointed it out to us and thought it was a drone. The more we looked at the object, we realized that it was not a drone, it had to be something else. We were only able to look at the object for about 15 secs because it vanished out of no where”

As I was searching for further reports of this incident I was not able to find any, however since the duration of the object being seen was so short it could be it was just traveling too fast or it very well could have been a drone.

Conclusion

With limited communication with witness and only a drawing to go by this case is complicated to place. What does help is that the witness was able to place a report with NUFORC which shows in my opinion commitment to the sighting and genuine concern about what he witnessed that night.

For me the sighting of a triangular UFO is very common, it’s something that has always been seen since the Phoenix Lights (https://www.theblackvault.com/documentarchive/the-phoenix-lights-incident-march-13th-1997/) or possibly even before that!

The truth is that reports of unexplained triangles in the sky are still happening all over the world and maybe you are reading this and thinking that what you saw maybe was real and unexplained, maybe there was something in the sky that night in Rochester, New York. I sure hope that this case helps others come forward with their sightings.

Ultimately I was not able to communicate with the witness to the extent I should in order to fully classify this as Unknown or a true UFO sighting. Thus this case will remain Unresolved for lack of evidence and lack of communication.

Background

The following UFO report was submitted to The Black Vault / TBV Investigations on December 19, 2017. 

Due to the age of the sighting, and lack of visual evidence, the case is added here without scrutiny, and used for reference and archival purposes.

Witness Testimony

My friends and I were outside playing in my front yard. It was dark, around 9pm. It was 3 friends of mine and myself. We were outside wrestling and cutting up. We looked up above us and there it was.

A huge triangular shaped craft hovering right over us above the tree line. This craft made absolutely no sound at all. There was a light on each corner and I think there was one in the center. It hovered perfectly still. Never made a sound. The craft was black and the lights were red. I recall staring at it for several minutes.

It was watching us. I know it was. I remember April started to run inside and get her parents. As soon as she started running, the craft just kinda made a 90 degree turn and slowly hovered into the woods. Never making a sound. It was absolutely amazing. I felt like I had some sort of connection. I never got scared. Never saw it again.

I have a part 2 lol. In those same woods, about 5 years earlier, my grandpa an I walked those woods all the time. You would go through woods then it opened up into huge fields of dead grass. One particular day, pawpaw and I saw crop circles in the dead grass. They were not huge like you see on tv, but they were big.

I don’t remember the shapes. My grandpa didn’t know what to make of it. The crazy part is that I KNEW WHAT THEY WERE!! I was only like 5 or 6 lol. There was no question in my mind. Thank you so very much for taking time to read this. I look into the sky every single night, hoping to see it one last time. Best wishes to you and please be safe!!

When asked in follow up e-mails to identify the type of craft that was seen, the witness commented this looked very similar to what they had seen:

The witness added:

“It was hovering very low but it was so black that it almost blended in with the night. I remember a light on each corner and a light In the center. It made absolutely no sound at all. It was huge. I know in my heart that this was no “secret military craft.” This was not man made and whoever it was flying it, were watching us and they didn’t want anyone else to see it.

It hovered off into the woods where three or four years prior, my grandpa and I saw crop circles in a field of tall dead grass. They weren’t big like you see on TV but no man made them. I can’t remember the shapes of them. The crazy part is, at the age of 5 years old, I knew what they were. I probably shouldn’t have, but I did. I saw the triangle back in either 90 or 91. Augusta, Ga. It was probably around 9pm. It was like it just appeared.

We looked up and there it was. I know this sounds crazy, but I swear I had a connection with this craft. I wasn’t scared, I chased after it. I didn’t want it to leave. I really appreciate you contacting me about this. It means a lot. Any advice you have or opinions is greatly appreciated and thank you for what you are doing. Please keep in contact.”

Conclusion

Due to the amount of time that has elapsed since the event, and the lack of visual evidence, this case holds no “conclusion” and is archived here for reference or for possible future corroborating witness testimony.

Background

The following case was submitted to The Black Vault / TBV Investigations on December 18, 2017.  

Witness Testimony

“Saw triangle shape with lights around the edges floating across the sky in the direction of Reagan airport.

The craft was as large as a football field and just floated silently across the sky.

I must admit that I was using my night vision goggles which is why no one else seemed to be disturbed or seemed to say or notice anything. Now I know there are giant flying triangles and what they are I have no idea.

One more note is that this was during the nuclear summit at the Pentagon.”

The Analysis

Based on the witness description, the event took place on March 15, 2016, and stated this was during the “nuclear summit” at the Pentagon.  However, the summit did not actually begin until March 31st (2 weeks later) and ended on April 1, 2016.

(Please note: we do not believe this error was submitted to us maliciously and is only noted due to the information and possible identity of the UFO below)

Upon investigation, it’s possible that aerial surveillance drones or other aircraft were patrolling the area prior to the summit, which could account for an increase in air traffic and therefore may account for the UFO seen on night vision.

Though a triangular shaped drone or surveillance aircraft does seem unlikely, it’s possible that through the use of night vision goggles — the object may have one shape, but appear on night vision as another, given the right circumstances. 

Given the location of the UFO, according to the witness, was in the direction of Reagan airport, it is possible this is simply a commercial aircraft, as well.  

Without an exact time stamp, it would be impossible to round down a potential flight number that could account for the craft seen through the night vision goggles.

Conclusion

Without further evidence, in the form of a photograph or video (or exact time), it is hard to determine the actual identity of the UFO.

Background

On December 18, 2017, a UFO witness submitted the following (and asked for anonymity) and the date given was approximate:

“Travelling south on 4 lane highway 35mph limit saw a black pyramid shaped object float over tree tops on my left and fly above and in front of my now stopped car. I stopped my car because this was the strangest thing I ever saw up until that time. It stopped in front and above of me. It checked me out(only car on the road) and I checked it out for maybe 10 seconds then it continued on to my right.

It was approx. 75-100 feet in air no sound and I saw no body structure. It had a colored light in top point of pyramid and bottom 2 points. Don’t remember the colors and there could of been lights running up the angled sides of pyramid but I don’t remember. I drew a pix and showed it to private pilot at work the next day who said those aren’t colors on airplanes.

I followed it turning right down a narrow tractor road. It was heading towards a golf course. I got scared, turned around and got out of there. This occurred sometime in the late 1970’s to early 1980’s. Sometime later watching Unsolved Mysteries about Bentwaters case and thought to myself did I witness one of the Bentwaters craft.”

The case was assigned to TBV Investigations Team Member Freddy Alvisi.

The Analysis

Due to the passage of time, and lack of photographic or video evidence, a case like this is difficult to pinpoint.

A database check on the National UFO Reporting Center database, revealed the following cases that fit the approximate time frame, and the location.

The witness was sent these cases, and their response was the following:

“Hi. The reports are all around the right time frame. What time of year I don’t remember. Wordens Pond would of been the direction the object I saw could of been headed to being maybe 15 miles away and in the right direction. Oddly enough I had a friend during that time frame whose family had or has a cabin on that pond. Been there a few times. I know about the TR3B and Phoenix chevron type of craft. The object I saw was not large and it flew in a vertical plane not horizontal.”

When asked for reference images, the witness did supply the following photographs, which they felt, was close to what they witnessed. According to the witness:

“I did a picture search for the first time and came up with these two pictures that closely resemble what I saw. Now, you have to imagine them up against a black sky, 75-100 ft in front and above you. You wouldn’t see any structure. Just the lights giving you an idea of the shape which I call pyramid as opposed to triangle.”

Conclusion

There is going to be no way to readily identify the object, with the lack of evidence, and the passage of time. However, the case is archived here to hopefully find corresponding cases in the general area around the same time frame.

Description: The witness (Toby) was walking around the Rattlesnake Lake with a hiking companion. They at once saw a bright light at about a 20 degree angle above the horizon to the west. The light became very bright and grew to about 1/4 the size of a full moon. The light would then get dim to the point that it almost would vanish. Then it would brighten again and then dim again. The light repeated this pattern for about 40 minutes. The light was mostly hovering and was moving very little. No sound was heard and some other aircraft were seen in the area. There were a few clouds in the sky and then the sky became cloudy. The light was actually visible through the clouds. The witnesses left the hiking area after about 40 minutes and then returned. At that time the object was observed to be straight up at 90 degrees. At one point during the sighting the witness could see a black outline when the light dimmed. The object was lost when the cloud cover thickened. Some light snow flurries were in the area and temperature was a chilly 37 degrees. The witness remarked that the skies were so bright that they didn’t need a flashlight to see to walk.UFOs NorthWest Note: The witness was quite familiar with aircraft and knew that the object was not a helicopter. (Because there were no flashing lights and there was no sound.) The object was not a planet because it changed luminosity and eventually moved overhead from the west. The object was not a satellite because it didn’t move fast enough. The object was likely not a hot air balloon because it was the wrong color (the color was white rather than yellow-orange which is the colors emitted by hot air balloons). The enhanced photo above does not look like a hot air balloon. Perhaps the object could have been a high altitude balloon? A check of winds aloft showed that winds were from the West to West-Northwest at 10 to 20 knots in the lower 10,000 feet of the atmosphere. The object moved from 20 degrees over the Western horizon to 90 degrees (straight up). A flotation device would move in this direction with a westerly (and light) wind component. Also Google is implementing a program called “Project Loon” where stratospheric balloons will deliver 4G cell phone service to areas devoid of coverage. However, Google is testing these balloons in foreign countries so it is unlikely to be an explanation for this sighting. Also the North Bend, WA area (near sighting location) is close to Seattle and has adequate cell phone and internet service.
