Background

This Department of Defense Office of the Inspector General (DOD/IG) report has the following objective:

“Our objective was to determine if special access program (SAP) industrial security inspections conducted by DoD Components are effectively ensuring the protection and security of defense contractor facilities, information, and technology.”

Although the title was published online by the DOD/IG, the report itself was classified. The Black Vault submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request on April 22, 2019, and the final response, including the redacted report, was released on August 14, 2019.
