{"id":14493,"date":"2021-06-24T17:29:31","date_gmt":"2021-06-24T17:29:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.theblackvault.com\/documentarchive\/?p=14493"},"modified":"2021-06-24T23:06:03","modified_gmt":"2021-06-24T23:06:03","slug":"1949-fbi-ufo-memo-describes-technology-at-least-50-years-ahead-of-humans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theblackvault.com\/documentarchive\/1949-fbi-ufo-memo-describes-technology-at-least-50-years-ahead-of-humans\/","title":{"rendered":"1949 FBI UFO Memo Describes Technology At Least 50 YEARS Ahead of Humans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe title=\"1949 FBI UFO Memo Describes Technology At Least 50 YEARS Ahead of Humans\" width=\"788\" height=\"443\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8qfczcrleiM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Buried within more than 1,600 pages of previously released <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblackvault.com\/documentarchive\/federal-bureau-of-investigation-fbi-files-on-ufos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FBI documents<\/a>, is a three page lesser-known memorandum written on January 31, 1949, to FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover from the FBI San Antonio field office. It is from the &#8220;Protection of Vital Installations&#8221; FBI file, and was classified &#8220;Confidential&#8221; when it was written.<\/p>\n<p>Within, you can establish that at the time, the &#8220;Flying Saucer&#8221; and &#8220;Flying Disc&#8221; issue was classified &#8220;Top Secret&#8221; by the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force. This is a key point, as it established the sensitivity of the information surrounding UFOs. In addition, since this was at the time well before the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), it makes one question what may have happened to most highly classified records surrounding the topic, or if they even survived throughout the decades.<\/p>\n<p>The document goes on to describe some of the security concerns with the &#8220;phenomena,&#8221; as the document refers to it as.\u00a0 It describes how the Atomic Energy Commission (now Department of Energy) installation at Los Alamos seemed to be a concentration point for where this phenomena continually appeared.<\/p>\n<p>It also describes a July 1948 encounter in the skies by pilots for Eastern Airlines. Johnson. 1,000 MPH was not broken until March of 1956 with the Fairey Delta 2 flown by Peter Twiss.
