This is the kind of thing that frustrates me because it's born out of ignorance. The average person has very little knowledge of science and engineering because they don't teach it in K - 12. So they are easily goaded into believing all kinds of nonsense. They look to Hollywood and conspiracy theorists for their scientific knowledge. Then they try to tell us that all the technology of the 20th century came from aliens. If you want to know where all the technology around you came from, ask a real engineer or scientist. It came from from lots of hard work and imagination by a lot of people.
Yes, the Internet has given a voice to ignorance. But I guess that's why we're here, to help straighten it out. People will believe what they want and that's fine but you can fall off the edge of the Earth if you're not careful. Conspiracies happen every day but they are usually not that big or that organized or even that harmful. And sometimes whacky nonsense gets in the way of discussing real conspiracies that cause real harm, like the UN trying to force socialism on the world.
greeney, very impressive resume. I guess I should have taken that job at Los Alamos. Oh well, I like anonymity.
