I love meat.  I tend to eat more meat than average.  My favorite meat is of course steak from beef cows, tender tips or grainy strips.  Beef steak varies widely in how it is prepared and the quality of the cattle so it is difficult to say that this one cut is best. Veal rocks my world.

Next one is difficult.  I grew up in a seaside town so seafood was a staple in our diet.  I also love chicken, especially the way that I myself prepare it.  Yes I am saying that best chicken I ever ate was of my own preparation.  My favorite is boiled chicken breast, you fry up your boiled breast to lightly sear or saute the outer layer, use your own imagination.  You can boil the chicken or saute it with anything. Fried chicken strips are a great on the go meal.

Seafood is a vast area of meatdom. I tried many things like octopus and squid and eel and shark.  Fish of of course my most consumed water animal meat.  I tried to fry up tapia for a time but could never get it right.  Usually it's salmon, tuna or cod.  Bass is delicious, probably my favorite fish. Sunfish are okay.  I ate plenty of oysters and clams throughout my life, both fresh and canned. Lobster is a rarity, only remember eating it twice, but it's much like crab only a little bit better.

My dad once came home from a car show with smoked alligator jerky and gave me a strip. I wonder if that was what it truly was.

You got pork, bacon and ham and turkey which are all okay on occasion, not my favorite but okay.  Pepperoni done right is a favorite.

Meats that I don't like? Venison, raw oysters, buffalo steak, salami, raw fish like sushi and of course how can I leave out human?  I'm not into that but I heard its okay in California. So is road kill.  So... roadkill is off my menu. No opossum, hedgehog, fox, cat, dog or emu. And most definitely no human.  I shouldn't even have to say that but in this day and age in the U.S.A. thats the way it is.

Thanks!

I didn't mention shrimp on this topic.  Shrimp has a good flavor and when I was young it was a rarity because of the price but now that I'm all grown up shrimp don't seem too expensive.  Maybe Shrimp is cheaper than it was before.

Another forgotten mention is duck.  I ate duck one time when I was a kid living in Minnesota.  My step-grampa shot the thing and roasted it in his oven.  Duck tastes much like dark turkey meat but with a much thicker flavor and greasier flesh.  Sort of like liver to the tongue, but not fully.  I wasn't all that impressed with eating duck but maybe some day I might try it once again.

To expand this topic beyond real meat I would like to comment on fake meat.

Veggie patties designed to taste like hamburger patties and simulate the texture of meat never quite hold up and cut it as a real meat substitution.  I tried em many times.  Some of em okay, most below satisfactory, they aren't really ever on my mind when I want something to eat.  Another fake meat is a certain sort of soy product designed to copy fish.  I don't see that one too often and I never tried it and you know I ain't all that interested.

So health officials place nuts in the meat group because of their protein content and meat is a great source of protein.  Nuts of course are not meat and never has a nut tasted anything like meat to me.  I like nuts and eat them more often than most people do but not all the time, but no matter how good nuts can be they could never be a substitution for my meat.  Not in a million years.

What about bugs?  Some people actually eat bugs.  Bugs appear to fit inside the definition of what meat is.  But is there really any meat on there?  Anyways, I never saw bugs on a meat menu so I probably don't have to worry about that.
