Back when I was maybe 12 or 14 my dad, a close friend and I were looking at the moon with my telescope-only a 2 1/2 inch lens but not a toy. The lens was clean and in focus. On the edge of the moon there was this arc or arch-had to be many miles high-looked similar to the St. Louis arch. If you compared the height of it to the size of the moon that height would have been maybe 5% so it was pretty distinct. If memory serves me right it was there the next night. My friend and I still recall this event. We know what we saw. I'm not interested in talking to any skeptics. Hard to think it was dust kicked up from a meteor strike but that's the only thing I can think of.
