Cloning is wrong in every single way. First we have stem cell research that is immoral in its own way. Then add cloning to the picture.. I can see stem cell research being very successful if it is being used in the right way. For example, curing diseases and other things. Cloning should be a last resort to a solution. Such as the end of the world.

This stuff makes my head hurt. Embarassed

If cloning is not good at all for you then you should not be involved as much as I don´t like religion in most ways.
To each his own.
Aslong as you respect that people ahve other beliefs then it should stay that way.

"First we have stem cell research that is immoral in its own way."-Sneaky Ashley

The immorality of that largely depends on the source of the stem cells. Adult Stem cells can be harvested from a variety of sources including liposuction waste. Then there is the newest and probably best method and thats from a parthenogenesis mass.

The controversy lies in fetal stem cells. Arguments against this is the destruction of a fetus, the arguments for using these is these come fertility clinic waste and would have to be destroyed anyway after so long.

I am involved in it because I think stem cell research and cloning can help cure many horrible disorders. But I also think it is wrong to harm living things. Which is why I mentioned stem cell research. I am on the fence about it because of there being different ways of obtaining the stem cells. The only way I believe it is immoral is to create an embryo for the one and only purpose of research. Although, the government HAS passed laws making procedures like those, illegal.

Humans, Animals, Plantlife are all living things.
Ins´t that equally bad then?

If people can accept that, then they can not go against stem cell either.
Otherwise all those against stem cell should turn vegetarians and nature/animal right activists right now.

The stuff I've read lately says they don't need stem cells from fetuses. They can do all the things they need to do with other sources of stem cells. I don't know when they discovered that but I suspect the fetal stem cell thing was always just an excuse to support abortion. Why does this country have such a hard time with such a basic concept as life?????????? If a culture makes it ok to kill the innocent unborn then how long before its ok to kill everyone else? We aren't talking about cells in a Petrie dish here.

A fetus is not a human yet.
However I don´t support any type of abortion or research on babies 5 months and older.
UNLESS it´s absolutely necessary for the survival of many or the baby itself...

There is number of things wrong with cloning. It could be used for:
1. Replacing people, like the president, ok, bad example.
2. Duplicating a single person many times, depletion of the gene pool.
3. Creating slavery.
4. Inadvertently creating a competing species.
5. Creating a freak zoo (Alien Resurrection).

But I think its going to end up happening anyway.

IMO it depends on a couple of factors.
1) What is the clone going to be used for.
2) How safe is it for the clones well being to be created.

That first factor is pretty obvious, a clone army or eugenics program so on & so forth tends to be a no no.

The second factor is actually the more important factor in today's science. The reason is human cloning (even animal cloning) is not well understood, genetic defects could easily cause problems including advanced aging. The other problem is the success rate for mammal clones is actually quite low, the last I checked except in rats the success rate is less than 5%, that means 95% of embryos & fetuses created die before implantation or birth.

I do believe eventually the world will get over the whole "affront to the dignity of humanity" line and human cloning will be an everyday event like test tube babies.
