..or why the mainstream media won't talk about "V".

ABC's Upfront: Our Viewers Are Less Broke!
V: Remake of the classic alien-invasion miniseries plays in the trailer, weirdly, like an allegory of the Obama election: aliens come to Earth, promise "hope" and "change" (words actually used), inspire cult-like devotion, but have creepy intent and are secretly lizards. Maybe I'm reading too much into it. But it has potential to be Glenn Beck's new favorite show.

Cast of ABC’s remake of 80s lizard-in-human-clothing series “V” has nothing to do with Obama
Feb 5, 2009
ABC’s upcoming remake of 80s series “V” has nothing to do with Obama (so stop saying that it does. You just want him to fail).
There are no similarities at all between the cult of personality and nebulous promises of Hope! and Change! proffered by Obama and embraced without question by his followers and the cult of personality and nebulous promises of Hope! and Change! proffered by space lizards in human suits and embraced without question by foolish humans in “V”.
Here’s the full casting list for the new “V”, presumably debuting on ABC this coming fall. The highlights below:
Erica Evans = Homeland Security Agent, suspicious of the alien motherships hovering over 29 US cities and the humanoid aliens that promise the world and seem completely friendly.
Father Jack Lowery = Catholic priest at a dying parish; he sees a renaissance of faith when the space lizards arrive, as fallen away Catholics return to church in droves fearful of a brave new world. Unimpressed by the surge of hope and devotion that follows the arrival of the space aliens, Father Jack believes people are relating to Obama the space lizards as god-substitutes.
Chad Decker = An Anderson Cooper wannabe at BBN, one of the worst networks on the air (cough, MSNBC). Decker becomes an unpaid sycophant of the space lizards, a steady outlet for propaganda as the space lizards see fit.
Tyler Evans = an uncool kid who just wants to fit in, somewhere, anywhere. He believes Obama the space lizards will fill the empty hole in his life.
Obama Anna = The leader of the space lizards, Obama Anna appears to be humanoid, and has flawless looks and a gorgeous figure. He She is a woman who presents herself as a benevolent diety, with a soft-spoken tone of voice that is warm and soothing (but with a strangely harmonic tone). Obama Anna is the front person for the aliens, and she’s remarkably knowledgeable – about human culture, human languages, and media manipulation. Expert at wrapping pundits around her little finger, she decides that newscaster Chris Matthews Chad Decker is the perfect careerist to carry her message of peace and prosperity to a wider world.
Silly ABC, who would ever believe something like this could ever happen?

OR, just maybe, they are going with the original premise of the mini series, which was exactly what is described above.
