Isn't he dead already?

God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers? What was holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet owned has bled to death under our knives: who will wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean ourselves? What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us? Must we ourselves not become gods simply to appear worthy of it?

There would be nothingness.

So reason without faith in the existence of God, leaves nothing. Oh well, as I've always said, nothing is good enough for me. 😉

Nope I didn't say that. You don't have to have faith or belief in a God or any God to have "something". Obviously you are a biological entity who is surrounded by material objects that you swear are present with out a faith in a God.

From my perspective there isn't anything else but a God essence. Blink this essence out of existence and there is nothing.

Your question is the type of question that brings no one any closer to any type of truth and the only thing that gets discussed is....well it is same old same old. 😛

Truth is stranger than fiction, because fiction has to make sense.

"starman" wrote: Then I shall rephrase the question. To all believers, what if God disappeared? 😉

Then all the evils of the past will re-occur, which is what seems to be happening. If your civilization is not based on rights granted by God then those rights can be taken away by man. Then you get crime, oppression, anarchy, war and all that comes with that. The planet is on its way there now. I think BO is a big believer that 2012 is the time of the Revelation and he's preparing for it. He thinks he's the Messiah and Al Gore is John the Baptist.

this thread reminds me of a John Lennon song....

Willie Wonka quotes..
What is this Wonka, some kind of funhouse?
Why? Are you having fun?
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men.

Mr. "I'm more popular than Jesus." ? Yeah, forget that he lived in a time before international television and jet aircraft.

But that song is b.s. anyway. Its based on the typical left wing lack of understanding of spiritual people. "Imagine everyone living for today." Well, believe it or not that is what people are doing. You can blame them for being too lazy to solve all the world's problems but no one is sacrificing today for some religious based afterlife. Not really. It may have been that way in the days of absolute rule by the Roman Catholic Church for some but its not true in the 20th and 21st centuries. Christians want the world to be a better place now. The left does not seem to comprehend that and instead opt for fascism. Since the left went Joseph Stalin on us have people become happier? No, that's why BO's polls are dropping like a rock. People are suckers for being told what they want to hear and that is exactly what made John Lennon famous and BO president.

Oh yeah, how much does John Lennon effect the people of the world today compared to Jesus? Answer that one. Outside of some die hard fans and some of the generation who grew up with Lennon he's already been forgotten, as will MJ be. That's the lesson of fame. But Jesus will live on.

"When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying the cross." Sinclair Lewis

Your use of the word fascism, is clearly pejorative. Your comments are nothing more than mere right-wing rhetoric. Empty talk lacking any factual basis. Accusations and innuendos coming from someone besieged by our current administration. Signs or symptoms of fascism are: extreme nationalism (you're either with us or against us), the disdain of human rights, unprecedented secrecy, military supremacy over domestic needs, fraudulent elections, suppression of labor power and the protection and strengthening of corporate power, using religion to manipulate public opinion, controlled mass media, the use of torture, hatred of intellectuals and more. Any of this sound remotely familiar to you. Of course not. You keep your head where the sun doesn't shine. The only sucker here, is you. "Imagine there's no heaven, it's easy if you try". 😈

Thank you for making my point for me. Most of those things are happening today. What exactly in my statements was "rhetoric"??

I suspect because you highlighted the fact that most Christians seek a better world and truly do believe the greater good to be a real achievable concept to strive for, that he has erroneously implied you didn't understand that fascism has hijacked christianity to achieve its goals.

While misguided about many things, (most) Christian groups are not advocating or endorsing slaughtering people or subjucating anyone.

It is true that the Christian majority has been cleverly duped to where now it is generally accepted that allegence to the government = allegence to the Christian God...how these two concepts were made relational in anyones mind who has seriously read the bible is beyond me.

These days, flag worship (which is thinly veiled idol worship) and swallowing this whole concept that to be patriotic one must believe and endorse the war on terror, has become interconnected to one identifying themselves as Christian...ironic, no?

It is actually a form of neo-Christianity....of course it's no secret that military/government powers, when seeking to garner massive support for their actions, fuse patriotism to religion....it is a very clever and effective tool.

People are supremely confused where I live, a state that has historically considered itself a "Democrat" majority state...around here (historically poverty riddled) people mistakenly believe that the "Democrat" party is "for the workin' man"....and that "Republican" is "for the rich".....and people tend to vote along with their families historic voting patterns....if your parents were democrat it is nearly a certainty you will be a democrat as well....

The funny thing is, this state is also a majority Conservative Christian state....so and odd thing happens....people dont seem to understand that the mainline Democrat party tends to be (what could be considered) quite secular....so you have Christians who dont understand that they are voting people into office who, if they tote the party lines, are philosophically at odds with what the voters personally represent.

It's a curious thing indeed.
