Trying to make the creation story in Genesis fit into what science has revealed about the beginning of the universe is a typical Christian creationist response.

Actually, that is false. On the old board, there was a discussion about "changing the christian belief to fit w/ new scientific evidence." One point brought up was the so-called "6,000 year old Earth" view allegedly held by ALL christians.

I, as others did, pointed out that many of us all the way back to the beginning, have held to an idea that the universe was billions of years old. This was shown to be bibically sound. It was first presented many, many, MANY years ago. Bascially, right from the beginning.

In fact, the early christians who held that theory (way before science proved it) were considered heretics for prosposing the idea of an Earth so much older than "conventional christian wisdom" would allow.

If one chooses to believe that christians are just inventing new ideas to keep up pace w/ science on the age of the Earth, then one chooses to remain willfully ignorant of historical facts concerning early christians.

Dawkins thinks belief in God is an excuse to evade thinking in the scientific world. Sadly, he is ignorant to the list of christian scientists who have contributed & founded many of the sciences he himself believes in. How ironic.

But you can't see what makes it which is what both Fort and I are going on about.

you cannot see what makes water with your eyes alone. How many of you have seen it under a microscope anyway? I haven't, so I'm having to trust the people that have seen it.

same with god.

So you rather believe in someone esle to make up your mind?
So I could easily be talking to an obedient robot with no concious mind of its own right now yes? ūüôĄ

thats the difference...belief in god doesnt require putting faith in a flawed system developed by mankind.

doesnt matter how *factual* h20 is, youre still as an individual applying faith that its so.

another difference is i see no one attempting to belittle You for Not believing, or telling you that you are weak or going to hell or anything of the sort..but from you? insult and intolerance.

Becasue I'm a victim, I have a good excuse for bad behavior to everyone. Saturos, nice philosophy to live by. fortwynt hits the nail on the head about being shammed or guilted about beliefs, and in my opinion the most intolerant are those who demand tolerance the loudest for their own beliefs.

People called you "things" so you can "say whatever you please"

LOL

isn't that nice....someone did something to me once so i can say and do whatever i want....

sorry, doesnt work that way.

I think you're well aware of at just which point to stop before you cross the line, and are quite aware of what you can and cannot "say".

Only in fortwyntland.

oh?

so enlighten us, when's the last time you peered into an electron microscope?...and even then you wouldn't know what you were seeing unless someone told you what to look for.

same could be said for anything virtually.

You take in breath and food and water...someone has told you what happens to these things once they interact with the organs in your body, but do you really "know" for yourself? Of course you don't....you say "hey that makes sense, so I'll choose to believe in that".

nothing more.
