Standing or walking, sitting or lying down, during all these waking hours, let him establish mindfulness of good will, which men call the highest state!

Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.

-Buddha

Such a society would be dominated by an elite, unrestrained by traditional values. Soon it will be possible to assert almost continuous surveillance over every citizen... - Zbigniew Brezhinsky

Well I disagree on a physical level. When talking about spirituality, then yes, I agree and I suspect that's the way that it's intended to be illustrated.

But in something such as the sciences I would have to disagree, often things are not as we would intuitively believe.

"George Bush says he speaks to god every day, and christians love him for it. If George Bush said he spoke to god through his hair dryer, they would think he was mad. I fail to see how the addition of a hair dryer makes it any more absurd."

The quote didn't differentiate. Though I did say that I found it likely that it was said with the intention to be governing what someone believes with regards to spirituality, I just wanted to make the distinction more than implied.

"George Bush says he speaks to god every day, and christians love him for it. If George Bush said he spoke to god through his hair dryer, they would think he was mad. I fail to see how the addition of a hair dryer makes it any more absurd."

There is a difference between physical and spiritual? I didn't know that. ๐Ÿ˜•

Ever heard the term, "gut instinct"? It is a physical experience, but the information carried in that experience comes from...who knows? But, I do know that my "gut instinct", which is physical, is always right. When I've gone against it, I've been screwed.

I liked the quote too, saw it on mercola.com and thought it would be appropriate here. ๐Ÿ˜€

BTW, I still love this thread. ๐Ÿ˜€

Of course there is. Spiritual is like for instance if you believe in a soul, or a god, or an afterlife or anything of that nature. Physical in this context I meant to mean how the universe conducts itself and why, the laws of physics... Aerodynamics, thermodynamics, cosmology etc etc etc..
Your gut instinct isn't always right when it comes to things like that, and it's in fact often completely to the contrary. In life, your gut instinct will often prove to lead you in the right direction, but this isn't always the case, it depends on the person and the scenario.

So to me, the quote bears particular truth when spoken from a spiritual point of view, or a live your life point of view, but not for an information point of view. Not just the sciences, but any sort of empirical information.

"George Bush says he speaks to god every day, and christians love him for it. If George Bush said he spoke to god through his hair dryer, they would think he was mad. I fail to see how the addition of a hair dryer makes it any more absurd."
