He who, depraved, devoid of truthfulness & self-control, puts on the ochre robe, doesn't deserve the ochre robe. But he who is free of depravity endowed with truthfulness & self-control, well-established in the precepts, truly deserves the ochre robe.

So what's all the hub-bub about the Dalai Lama visiting the USA today, and O'Bama apparently going out of his way not to meet with him? Some believe it's because the USA owes so much to the Chinese right now, O'Bama didn't want to anger them.

He who offers up his evil desires will see the uselessness of slaughtering animals at the altar.

I believe this is a practice that hasn;t been done in centuries and out of the Old Testament, at least with most religions. However it wasn't but a few years ago an image sticks out in my mind of a Fundementalist Muslim man slitting the throats of several lambs in the street, on one of their holy days. Along with that idea is the centurys old way of their oppression of woman and children, and the teaching of hate twards others.

We arn't living in the 5th century BC, we live in the 21st century AD, where we are supose to be civilized. That poor lamb isn;t even aware of time, so why make an animal die a horrible death for something he doesn't have a thing to do with?

Were they eaten?

"George Bush says he speaks to god every day, and christians love him for it. If George Bush said he spoke to god through his hair dryer, they would think he was mad. I fail to see how the addition of a hair dryer makes it any more absurd."

Dhabiha: Method of slaughter
Main article: Dhabihah

Dhabiha is the prescribed method of ritual slaughter of all animals excluding fish and most sea-life per Islamic law. This method of slaughtering animals consists of a swift, deep incision with a sharp knife on the neck, cutting the jugular veins and carotid arteries of both sides but leaving the spinal cord intact.
