Stephen Hawking estimates that immediately after the "big bang" if the rate of our universe's expansion had been slower by 1 part in a hundred thousand million million, the universe would instead have collapsed into a fireball. He also estimates that if the strength of gravity were lessened by just 1 in 10 followed by 100 zeros, the universe would not be life permitting. There are said to be over 50 such scientific estimates that, when all added together make it quite clear that this universe "fine tuned" to an unimaginable degree. So my question is, do you personally believe that there is an architect, some kind of intelligence, that designed this universe? I'm not asking if you believe in the biblical God.

Hello frrosted. I didn't know that about the universe. Very good post my friend. 🙂

Now I know that I would say that the universe could have collapsed back in on itself many times before it created the universe we now have. But there is just a bit too much luck for my liking.

Good post mate. 😀

Where I disagree with you is, being human is natural, being different is not. Wars and greed and hate come natural to human beings. However there is an answer for that and it isn't religion. The answer is Jesus Christ.

Perhaps Jesus is one way.
I have taken another one that does not involve any conenction to religions or UFO:s whatsoever.

Well, good luck on your journey. But let me say this: do not confuse religion with Jesus. Jesus said He was the only way. Not the Baptists, Methodists, Catholics, or any other host of denominations way. Don't form your opinion of God, and Jesus, on the basis of so called Christians. Go directly to the source if you happen to find yourself being called.

The principles taught by christ....forgiveness, charity, meekness, selflessness....
This is the "way" christ was speaking of...not that the name "christ" or "jesus" should be of any importance aside from their connection to those principles

Saying jesus is lord, in other words, benefits no one, only that they should practice those principles.

I think christ wouldve been satisfied (and God), if one said "joe is lord",so long as they lived by the correct and logical principles.

Thanks Lash old chap 😀 I guess the point I was trying to make is, if someone really wants to believe this whole mess is the result of a random sequence of events, then they should understand that the odds in favor of that are unimaginably low.

Every one who is seriously involved in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that a spirit is manifest in the laws of the Universe-a spirit vastly superior to that of man. - Albert Einstein

I don't know how on Earth your warped perceptions arrive at these conclusions and I don't care. You think you're smart with these silly run-on sentences, using fancy words, and all you sound like is some babbling nutjob. Your opinions mean about as much to me as a maggot taking a dump on a cow patty.

I read your thread starter link screamer and it's true that starting I think sometime after WW II there was a slow but steady push in this country to abandon the principles and morality of the Bible, on which this country was founded, and slowly but steadily the new morality has emerged until we have today what we have. Not entirely hedonistic, but eroding and inching that direction every day.

People in this world will go into a homicidal rage at the mention of Jesus Christ which was proven with the story about Columbine and the heartbreaking story of that little 10 year old Filipino girl who was beaten to death for professing Jesus. VERY VERY SAD

The documentary Indoctrinate U is a good piece of investigative journalism into one of the ways people have been swayed into this way of thinking. The website is here...

Ok but do you think there is a good chance this universe was created. Forget about God, or any gods, for the moment. And the Stephen Hawking reference was just a tiny portion of the so-called fifty plus examples of scientific belief. Basically science will tell you that if this universe were even slightly different, life would be prohibited rather than supported.

Although what I really would want to know is that if they are talking about Life here only or Life in general across the Universe.
But in my opinion, I don´t think we will ever answer that question untill we interact with another intelligent lifeform in a peaceful way...(like that would ever happene even if we do find one...) Laugh

It seems a little realized Truth, Dark, but it has been my experience that G-d is a peaceful intelligence that has done exactly that....it's the listening part that seems to elude many, so to many the interaction eludes them. May I suggest a calm sit near a river that's bathed in moonlight and a breeze at temperatures of about 74 degrees F....somewhere quite....practice, practice, practice.

Thanks gudskepteacal. Your exactly right about the onslaught of Libertines in this day and age....I'll check that read out you've so kindly suggested after I finish some errands. I appreciate you sensible reply.

well...whats irritating to me is that its considered shameful to be a christian....its fine to portay your Star of David, or whatever other religious symbol, its actually a good thing to be proud of your religious heritage...so long as you arent a christian.

Christianity is most certainly under attack....and don't get me wrong, there are numerous things about the collective christian organization that I disagree with, and certainly they are guilty of a fair amount of ridiculous behavior that runs contrary to what they profess....but I'd say this is true for any group...

It's almost like being "white"....every other race/culture is patted on the back and praised for being proud of their heritage and race, but whites are taught that whites are the bane of the existence of the rest of the world and one should not be allowed to be 'proud' of their "color" lest one be called a racist.
