Do they come from "the brain"? "The mind"?

Your mind? My mind? Our mind?

It's a tough question to answer I know, but where do YOU think thoughts come from?

The cerebrum, the large, outer part of the brain, controls reading, thinking, learning, speech, emotions and planned muscle movements like walking. It also controls vision, hearing and other senses.

Does the cerebrum also generate ideas?

What about when you hear your own voice in your head? Is that the cerebrum?

I would guess yes, its still a part of thinking, and functions of that part of the brain.

What are the limits to a persons thoughts? Can a blind person have thoughts of things never seen? Like a tree, or the sky, a color or even a shadow. His knowledge is limited to what he/she has touched or heard, or a discription of something. Night and day are only temperature changes. Imagine how Helen Keller ever communicated. Without sight or hearing she had no reference to 2 senses most important to learning, therefore creative thinking, or normal thoughts. Sense of touch was only tool for learning.

Very interesting.

Maybe, as you say, it is the cerebrum that generates thoughts.

Can you go within the cerebrum? Can you create a thought? Or is it done automatically?

Or is there a bit of automatic and a bit of choice?

I actually searched and found what posted about Cerebrem. Thoughts also would generate during sleep when we dream and most times are vivid real thoughts that sometimes make no sense in subject matter, how they compound abstract thoughts, you may never imagine while awake. Many times we only remember having vivid dreams and can’t even recall what they were about. Scary dreams, non sensicle, crazy mixtures of things. Not sure how you explain some dreams that are involuntary and sub conscious.

Thoughts come from the field of consciousness .NOt the brain but maybe what we call the mind ,the antenna

The invisible stream of thought ideas in a similar way the internet carries ideas to the viewer .

All thoughts are in fact energy and so exist forever .
They are not entirely yours ,you may direct them to appear in a negative way or positive way or a neutral way .
To slow down or reduce thoughts meditate ,or even nearly stop them for a period of time ,which is being present minded .
