Reading down the thread, I see it ended and thunder has not reported back yet if the scrying succeeded. I do remote viewing which can be called scrying for purposes of espionage. It was developed for the US military by SRI International. Psychic Ingo Swann and US Army warrant officer Joseph McMoneagle worked on the project and both of them have written books about it.

McMoneagle does suggest using a crystal ball or other focus object. A mirror, water or drinking glass could be used. I actually use a wine glass I purchased at a Good Will store. You do not want any reflections as distractions so darken the room. Look through the crystal not at it. It is important to have a specific target that you want to view. In remote viewing the viewer makes a sketch of what ever is first visualized. This can be used to revisit the target or go back if you wander off. Just probe the sketch with your pen.

You can view anything not just enemy submarines. The target does not have to be physical. You can target Buddha or Jesus or Zeus. If you acquire the target of one of these higher beings, you can request to see through their eyes and your viewing will become very clear indeed. This actually is the main secret to remote viewing or scrying.

When you can go out and see the universe, who wants to go look at a Russian submarine? (Melvin C. Riley, US Army Remote Viewer)

that's one cold crystal ball
maybe it's been overused
(poor.. spunk coated..crystal ball)
seriously
okay..just metaphorically
fer real
as you most probably alreayd know, skrying can be done just about anywhere..you don't really need a crystal ball to do it..crystal can enhance or reflect energies, though, as can water, or glass , or any reflective substance, really (along with some other stuff)

when I skry (with my little eye)..which is rarely of late..I either just close my eyes and look into the darkness there..or I will zone out on a wall and allow visions to come to me that way
