Let me preface this with the fact that I take care of my mom with dementia. I think her problem came from big-pharma, but that is for another topic.
So, I've read a lot about brain function in trying to at least keep her from getting worse. Vitamin B-12 is one of the vitamins that is fundamental in brain function. If you're a drinker, it is also a vitamin that alcohol depletes from your body. The only way you can get it is from eating animals and animal by-products. It can not be obtained by vegetables. So, vegans have to take a supplement or eat "nutritional yeast". In the old day it was called "brewer's yeast" a by-product of brewing beer. But, it didn't have B12 in it, now they've changed the name and added B12.
Any diet that doesn't give your body the right ingredients is not healthy. (I hate those holier than thou vegans who hate my leather and hate me eating meat) I use the whole animal, thank you.
So, to go back to my title, when vegans don't get enough B12, they're losing brain function. They're dumbing themselves down. At the very minimum, they should eat a few eggs and cheese for breakfast. Us drunks have known that for years...Wake to milk, eggs, meat, etc.
Then, I could go off on Co-Q-10, which we only get from animal organs. This is why in the old days people had liver once a week.
