Most people don't really understand how secrets work.  I have lived my life immersed in them, without ever being directly involved.  I've never been in the military or intelligence myself. My "Grandpa Bond" was in the military, of course, and one of my brothers.  My father can only really be described as a "Shadow Ambassador", although there is nothing sinister about that and the "MIBs", who are actually OSS/DIA (OSS became DIA), are not only the "Good Guys", they are the "Best Guys".  "Guardian Angels of the Constitution" and this was only a part of a restructuring of the entire executive branch that Dwight Eisenhower did as a part of modernizing America to survive in a world with nuclear weapons.  The original system from before the war was suicidaly obsolete in a nuclear world.  I can tell you a lot more about the "MIBs" later if I will be allowed to speak here because these are "Granpda's People" so I know a lot about them.  They are very interesting, and you'll be glad they are there once you understand who they are and what they do.  They are "The Nuclear War People", for one thing, and Ike partly established them as a "Firewall" for future presidents.  Ike feared what a president with no military experience might do in the future.

So, one "big one" I'll give you before the moderators decide if they want me here, is the source of the perception in the public that there is a "Shadow Government".  There is and their isn't.  Ike's "Firewall".  All military orders from the president flow through DIA, who has the opportunity to advise the president, maybe convincing him to do things a little differently with their greater knowledge, or even say "We can prove that is an illegal order so, no sir Mr'. President, we will not obey that illegal order.  Perhaps you might reword it."  They work directly for the president, just like everyone else in the executive branch, but in that one situation they are the only people who can say "No, Sir!" to the president.  That is the entirety of the "Shadow Government" unless you want to count things DIA does, but that is all under the orders of the president.  They work for him, not the other way around.  They can just say "No, sir!" in one situation.

I didn't mean to say that here, but why not... that's a good one:-)

As for the secrets... I never signed anything agreeing to keep any secrets, I've learned them through my family or from having been one of the top Ufologists of the "X-Files Era" in the UseNet UFO forums where I was the chief rival of Philip J Klass and our seemingly never ending war with each other would be one of, if not the, most memorable things about those forums to anyone was there.  They would remember me as "The guy who was always fighting with Dean Adams (Phil), or by my names "The Teflon Believer" or "The One & Only Great Wall Debunker.  I'll tell you about the UseNet UFO Forums sometime to if I can, because they weren't about UFOs... it was actually about something else.  UFOs are almost never about UFOs.

So, since I have never signed anything agreeing to keep secrets, I am perfectly free to tell anyone anything I want.  And, I know, now evil shadows will come and get me for it, haha.  This is how secrets often come out, through the children or grandchildren usually long after they have become history, and not secrets any one cares about anymore.  There are a few stories I tell that DIA would rather I not tell, like the MiG-29 in Turkey, but this stuff really is history now.  It really doesn't matter anymore... they don't care if I tell everyone.

I left the most important point out of this post, which is that if you never signed anything agreeing to keep secrets... then it isn't a crime for you to reveal them.

I would think that anyone with an interest in UFO's would know who Phil Klass was.  Most on "our side" of the debate HATE him, and would argue with me for calling him a "Ufologist".  They would say that he was the worst of the worst of the "Debunkers", a term that I defined in Ufology, during our war, to describe him... "Debunkery is the Art of Dishonest Trickery, it is not skepticism".  A Debunker is not participating in a discussion, they are playing a game.  A skeptic is skeptic.

Phil is VERY misunderstood.  He was, he really was, the best and most important "Ufologist" of all time.  When I tell you about Bob's Lazar's "Spaceship at Area 51" later... that's all coming from Phil.  He's the one who figured that all out and told some of us about it.  His "hatred" of "Saucerheads" (his go to quick insult) really wasn't.  He was trying to do you a favor.  Phil knew that there were physical objects in he sky that we couldn't explain, calling them anything more than that annoyed him, but he really didn't want people wasting their lives on this subject.  Especially if they were in their late teens to 20's.  Those are the ages most people obssess on this subject if they are going to, and in his day many did.  He thought that UFOs could destroy your life like a drug... for example spending your college years on a quest to find the flying saucers.  Because you should be making something of yourself during those years, and you aren't going to find the flying saucers.  He was trying to help in the only way he could... discouraging interest in the subject.  But he wouldn't have spent his entire life involved with it for no reason other than to insult people, which he was very good at.  In fact, he and I might be the two best ever at it and our "Epic On-and-Off 8 Year Flame War" might be the most epic flame war in the history of the internet, and would shock today's internet users can't even have an argument because only one side is allowed to speak.  That makes it impossible for an argument to even happen, let alone... UseNet archives UseNet UFO Groups, Marc Michalik v Dean Adams.  It speaks for itself... Hahaha... around 88-96.

Phil is the best example of the truth about secrets.  This hasn't changed, it's still the same today.  People today think... Oohh, if you found out a government secret and told someone Evil Shadows would appear and flashy thing you!  But the reality is that if you didn't agree to keep secrets, then you didn't agree to keep secrets.  I'll even tell you a BIG one at the end of this!  Phil was the editor of Aviation Week & Space Technology magazine, also known as "Aviation Leak" because the US Air Force couldn't keep a secret from Phil.  He spent his entire life making a living discovering and telling the world US Air Force secrets... he never signed anything.  All of the Ufologists hated him, but much of the REAL information was actually coming from him.  He was a savant at figuring this stuff out and, anyone in the Air Force will tell you, by far the top aviation expert of all time.  If you launched a model rocket in your back yard... Phil probably, somehow... knew about it!

Watch... I'll still be here tomorrow, no Evil Shadows will come and get me.  "008 Ball" was the vice president of the company that renovated NORAD in the early 1970's.  His offices had five pictures of the inside and I've known what the inside of NORAD looks like, from those pictures, since I was 12.  I've used this a few times over the last 6 months or so, so you aren't the first to hear this, but this really has been one of the biggest secrets in the world for the last 50 years.  There is a crack in Cheyenne Mountain, it has never been capable of withstanding a direct hit.  They discovered the crack during the renovation.

Philip J Klass: Man in Black

He wasn't!  But lots of people back then were certain that Phil was some kind of intelligence agent sent to smite the notion of UFOs.  If you read us in UseNet even a little you'll see that, by today's standards we are absolutely viscous and brutal.  In fact, I am so good at smacking people down in this "Game", because that's what it is, that I can't speak anywhere on the internet today.  Because "The UFO Game" on UseNet wasn't really about UFOs.  It was actually a "Social Simulation"... "Games & Intelligence"... that Phil WAS obviously doing for intelligence.  The US Air Force couldn't keep a secret from him and he had a magazine... they would have developed a relationship with him to be able to say "can you not tell them about this one aspect of it".

I'll talk a lot about this later, but what it was a social simulation of was the tactics of Vladimir Lenin and how the KGB brings down societies.  I eventually won this game, when my "Great Wall Debunker Movement" brought down Phil's "UFO Debunkers" based on the political platform "The Great Wall of China Does Not Exist!"  The best liar wins... Vladimir Lenin's Game!  I am not allowed to speak ANYWHERE on the internet.  That's not an exaggeration.  That's why I want an unmoderated forum somewhere.  Phil & I were probably the best Americans ever at playing Vladimir Lenin's game, which is that maddening lying as they smile in your face and they just cannot be defeated thing that you see today.  Those are the tactics of Vladimir Lenin, and if I want to become him I pretty much am the real Vladimir Lenin... and when some armature tries that with me with something like "You have no mental capacity, not one neuron!" that is such a 5 year old pathetic attempt... my first response shredding them to pieces over two paragraphs for annoying me with, what to me seems like a little baby telling me how smart they are, my very first response often gets me banned for life.  You aren't allowed to ACTUALLY humiliate people who just tried to do that very same thing to you and you were defending yourself.  But you are the one who is punished because you are actually good at it and actually succeeded in destroying their credibility... because that is the object of the game.  Destroy the other person's credibility.  On today's internet the victim is punished for defending themselves... because they won.

Anyway, what I really wanted to do in this post was to destroy the notion of Phil as an evil government smiter of all things UFO in a fun way!  Haha... If you look at our UseNet war, you'll see how badly I used to harass him, and I eventually even beat him with the Great Wall of China.  I was relentlessly harassing him and damaging his credibility, as he was doing the same thing back to me.  But the thing is, if anyone cared that I was harassing and in the end even beginning to beat Phil... in my case, all anyone had to do to make me stop was pick up a phone and call my father and have him tell me to stop.  If that aspect of what Phil was doing as important to them, and I was the first and last "Believer" to EVER be a problem for Phil... in my case they knew who I was and just could have made one phone call to stop me.  They never did that, because they didn't care.  They probably didn't even know about it.
