Can anyone tell me what the name of the program is that George W. Bush initiated during his presidency that illegally tapped into phone calls and illegally collected data from all phone calls made on the AT&T network? Or was it the Verizon network? I've been asked about this and I can't remember it to save my life.

I just remembered it. It's called Eschelon. I think that's the spelling for it.

Echelon was the precursor to PRISM and the other programs Snowden's revelations were about.

It's a long story, but I actually think Snowden was put up by the NSA to reveal the programs, and he wasn't a heroic whistle blower.
