I went fishing this
morning but after a short time I ran out of worms. Then I saw a
cottonmouth with a frog in his mouth. Frogs are good bass
bait.

Knowing the snake couldn't bite me with the frog
in his mouth I grabbed him right behind the head, took the frog, and put it in my bait
bucket.

Now the dilemma was how to release the snake without getting
bit. So, I grabbed my bottle of Jack Daniels and poured a little whiskey in its mouth.
His eyes rolled back, he went limp. I released
him into the lake without incident and carried on fishing
using the frog.

A little later, I felt a nudge on my foot. It was that
snake, with two more
frogs....

and thats the truth..

Sounds like something I'd do in snake form.

War is an extension of economics and diplomacy through other means.

Economics and diplomacy are methods of securing resources used by humans.

Securing resources is the one necessary behavior for all living things.

War = Life

Something tells me that you ain't seen cottonmouths in action..............either up close in the wild or in a zoo.. Laugh Laugh Laugh

Had one try to get in the boat one night while night fishing............The last thing either of us ever though about was reaching for a bottle, maybe the toilet paper but not the bottle. 😉 😛

i have had them in my yard. we have a natural seep spring on the property next door to my big lot and i got plenty of snakes around including copperhead, cotton mouth timber rattlers and assorted no poison crawlers to.

you live with them in missouri in the woods.
have a pretty collection of tarantulas to...the browns mostly. they are pretty tame actually..

i have deer possum, skunk, linex, and a bob cat close around. hear the cat every once an awhile..never seen it yet but i know that sound...

take care and keep looken down if your around my place..grin :Doh: :Doh:

Since it's a new year............I'm just trying to keep it real....remember you're talking to a senior citizen with lot's of crust when it comes to things that live in the wild.............Me think's you're seeing water snakes, which most people mistake for cottonmouths.........cottonmouths are bigger snakes than water snakes.............although water snakes are extremely aggressive they are nonpoisonous ........

Cottonmouths love hot weather, like Bama, Louisiana, some in Tennessee.........love Mississippi..........MO, Like Indiana is a bit cold for these critters............yet I'm sure there are a few in the area............but hardly everywhere.

Copperheads love rocky outcrops, as do some rattlers..........the Timber rattler is our states biggest snake........which says a bit due to these kings that live on my property or near about............couple of five footers and I've seen bigger. Kings eat copperheads...............it's why we've no coppers about the yard.. Laugh

Sorry to run on, but as an old x gambler.............I'd wager a bit you've seeing what are called Eastern Water snakes.
