Vegas Employer: Obama Won, So I Fired 22 Employees

November 7, 2012

LAS VEGAS (CBS Las Vegas) — A Las Vegas business owner with 114 employees fired 22 workers today, apparently as a direct result of President Obama’s re-election.

“David” (he asked to remain anonymous for obvious reasons) told Host Kevin Wall on 100.5 KXNT that “elections have consequences” and that “at the end of the day, I need to survive.”

“I explained to them a month ago that if Obama gets in office that the regulations for Obamacare are gonna hurt our business, and I’m gonna have to make provisions to make sure I have enough money to cover the payroll taxes, the additional health care I’m gonna have to do, and I explained that to them and I said you do what you feel like in your heart you need to do, but I’m just letting you know as a warning this is things I have to think of as a business owner.

“Well unfortunately, and most of my employees are Hispanic — I’m not gonna go into what kind of company I have, but I have mostly Hispanic employees — well unfortunately we know what happened and I can’t wait around anymore, I have to be proactive. I had to lay off 22 people today to make sure that my business is gonna thrive and I’m gonna be around for years to come. I have to build up that nest egg now for the taxes and regulations that are coming my way. Elections do have consequences, but so do choices. A choice you make every day has consequences and you know what, I’ve always put my employees first, but unfortunately today I have to put me and my family first, and you watch what’s gonna happen. I’m just one guy with 114 employees — well was 114 employees — watch what happens in the next six months. The Dow alone lost 314 points today. There’s a tsunami coming and if you didn’t think this election had consequences, just wait.”

A revenge or the result of Obama's policy?

CEO Keeps Promise to Lay Off Workers If Obama Elected
Published: Friday, 9 Nov 2012

Robert Murray, the chief executive of Ohio-based coal provider Murray Energy, began laying off a small number of employees this week after Republican challenger Mitt Romney lost his bid for the White House.

The privately-held company, which had about 3,500 employees before the layoffs began, fired more than 150 employees at three locations this week. A spokesman, Gary Broadbent, said the layoffs were ongoing and these were just the latest announcements.

The layoff notices blamed Obama’s “war on coal” for the job cuts.

Like the guy said, he has to do what it will take to ensure his business will survive. He's not the only employer doing this either, every single employer is having to restructure to get ready for the consequences of Obama's policies. People making this a partisan issue are simply doing so because they aren't business owners themselves and probably have no idea what it's like.

The 47% in this country continue to hold a grudge against successful business owners and think that they deserve a slice of their pie. That's all I hear from whiny fellow employees at work or see in comment sections on discussion boards, "The CEO made this much, the owner has a nice house, wah wah wah!". All according to plan as that's basically what the Communist, I mean Democratic Party ran on.

Class warfare at it's finest, only this will have a much deeper impact on middle-class Americans than they have been told. All these geniuses have to do is start their own business and everything will be sunshine and lollipops. 🙄 No, they don't want to take that risk or put in the work. They just want the check. Armchair CEO's are a dime a dozen in this country. As long as Democrats continue to wage this war, the country will remain divided.

The modern definition of ‘racist’ is someone who’s winning an argument with a liberal.

It is not payback, the fact is many businesses said they would be forced, things are going to get worse not better.
