For some reason I am just not into the Olympics this year.

Willie Wonka quotes..
What is this Wonka, some kind of funhouse?
Why? Are you having fun?
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men.

Once you start watching its hard to turn it off, so we have really enjoyed it. Some of the heartbreaks for these young people is really heart wrenching to watch, they had such high hopes. Its really exciting to watch, I just wish the delay and spoiler alerts were not ruining some of that part of watching.

We watched this bout the other day and it was outrageous. I further herd this country was accused of bribing Olympic official paying them millions of dollars to guarentee they would win gold medals at the olympics. Not sure how true that was.

I saw some artical Rath about Austrailian rowers who got into trouble and arrested throwing things through storefront windows. Not sure of the details, but if true, they could get sent home.

LONDON, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- The U.S. Olympic boxing contingent was reduced to just two fighters Thursday and a referee was sent home for failing to properly administer a bout.

The International Amateur Boxing Association, or AIBA, overturned a decision that had been made on Wednesday, one in which Magomed Abdulhamidov of Azerbaijan was given a 22-17 bantamweight decision over Japan's Satoshi Shimizu.

Although Abdulhamidov led in points, he was also knocked down six times in the third round by his Japanese opponent.

The rules used for the Olympics state that if a boxer suffers three legitimate knockdowns, the fight is stopped.

Instead, referee Ishanguly Meretnyyazov let the bout go on. Shimizu was declared the winner Thursday, 24 hours after the bout, and the referee was expelled.

"I deeply regret that we had to take these decisions," said AIBA president Ching-Kuo Wu. "Our main concern has been and will always be the protection of the integrity and fair play of our competitions. I will take all possible steps to reinforce this."

The action in the ring Thursday continued to go poorly for the Americans, who won their first four bouts of the Olympics and have lost seven in a row since then.

The latest casualties were middleweight Terrell Gausha, who dropped a 16-15 decision to a boxer from India identified only as Vijender, and lightweight Jose Ramirez, who was defeated 15-11 by Fazliddin Gaibnazarov of Uzbekistan.

Cuba's Yasnier Toledo Lopez won his lightweight bout over Liu Qiang of China to reach the quarterfinals and will now meet Gani Zhalauov of Kazakhstan

That fight was bogus.

Magomed, for lack of a classier term, got his s**t rocked. There's no reason why Satoshi shouldn't have gotten that win straight up. Thank goodness that you can at least have a fighting chance at overturning a boxing ref's decision. The same can't be said for Shin A-lam and the terrible clock keeping.

What are your opinions on this guy running the 400m on Saturday? Do you think his blades are an advantage or disadvantage against the the other athletes? Should they only allow "full-bodied" people in the Olympics?

Yhe, but that was only after he an his team failed to qualify for the finals in his event.

It's no big deal.

&

It's not on the scale of the badminton, where teams were throwing the game.

However i think he was later returned home to Australia.

July 25, 2012 - Australian swim coach Leigh Nugent tips reduced medal tally in the pool at London Olympics

Nugent forecast a haul of "somewhere between 13 to 15 medals", which is up on the Benchmark Studies prediction analysis of the Australian Olympic Committee in 2010 but down on the 20-medal swoop at Beijing's Water Cube four years ago.

Needless to say.

Long list of issues to unravel for Aussie swimming coach

& France has now won four Gold medals in the pool.

That's equal to the total number of ALL the gold medals France has won in the pool, at all the Olympic games previous to this 2012 games combined.

Here is an interesting fact.

Australia has done worse at the Olympic games when the Australian Dollar & the Australian Economy is at it's strongest.

& with the Australian Economy outperforming every other country in the world.

Australia's Olympic performance is the worst it's been in over 20 years.

Australia's placing in the gold medal count at the Olympic Games has been at its best among the years when the real Australian / USD exchange rate has been weakest. With the dollar remaining very high, it may not bode so well for our athletes in London 2012.

As a side note many of the country's around the world who have seen their country's & their economy's fall into bankruptcy & or collapses have seen their Olympic performance & medal tally improve.

it might seem the worse your economy is doing the better your athletes perform.

It could be something to do with how much your dollar is worth at the time of the Olympic games, the strength of a nations Dollar, determines weather you athletes focus on shopping & partying. or on your sporting success & training.
