I filed a US FOIA request to NORTHCOM for Maritime Collection Platforms. Initially they denied they found two documents and they were completely with held under (b) (1) national security, including the title and classification of the documents.

I filed another request and I eventually obtained the actual documents, and guess what completely censored in its entirety!! So much for openness.

Would you mind posting your actual FOIA request?

Sincerely,

A copy of the document(s) located has a result of FY15-05MAY2015-72 request with the appropriate partially release portions released as a result of this request. I further request the total number of pages these documents were extracted from since you stated "1 and 7" so I assume the actual document contains other numbered pages apart from the ones indicated by USNORTHCOM, I further request the title of the actual document the result of  FY15-05MAY2015-72 requested documents was extracted from. (FOIA REQUEST 91)

Identification of the Maritime Collection Platforms document, including number of pages, title, date, classification, and declassification date, as referenced by FY15-03APR2015-52. Even though the document is classified according to USNORTHCOM under (b)(1) some reference point is needed for possible declassification review in the future be it recent or nearer the declassification date. (FOIA REQUEST 72)

Initial my request was simply documents pertaining to Maritime Collection Platforms.

USNORTHCOM classified the classification markings under (b)(1) yet this information is available via the Case Log listings for this year, and the document is classified SECRET. Bureaucratic nonsense, the procedures are at fault here, yet we are powerless to change them.
