A few years ago, a friend and I went to what remains of the historic Gila River, near the Phoenix International Raceway, to night fish for catfish, around midnight. As I was fishing, I felt something crawling on my ankles. When I shined the flashlight down, I saw it was turtles, water snakes, muskrat, and every living creature in the river coming out, frightened, scampering up the river bank. I shined the light to the center of the river, which was only 10 feet away, and was shocked to see a white snake-like creature, 2-3 feet in diameter, and from what I could tell from humps sticking out, at least 15 feet, to maybe 20 or more feet long. I did not see it's head, as it was far up the river or under water. My friend was already half way to the car, when I looked over towards where he used to be standing. I ran away, up the bank to the car, as well. I, really, have never been so terrified. Thinking back, I wonder why I didn't stay, try and get a cell phone photo, or at least, get more of a look, but the thing was so huge, and the bank was covered with so many animals coming out of the water, I was just too freaked out and frightened, to the point of physical illness. My friend just wanted me to drive him home, immediately, and he will not discuss the incident with me , at all, to this day, oddly enough, and he did not say a word on the way home. I think he was in shock, or oddly affected, like after a human abduction experience, or something. He was not himself. There was a very high level of strangeness to the whole experience, and certain things don't make sense to me, like why a unexplained phenomenon buff, like myself, did not stay to check it out. I regret it so much. Note...We were not drinking or using drugs. There are some big ponds around the area, and the fact that the snake creature was pure white makes me think it could have come from deep inside an underwater cave system, which made it albino. The Salt River and the Gila do flow underground, in the area. I did some research after the incident. There is an ancient hieroglyphic on a nearby mountainside , showing a bigfoot-like creature or possible extraterrestrial, dragging a huge snake behind him. The Pima Native Americans of the area have a legend/tradition of a huge snake God, that comes out of the Gila River at night. There are two historic bigfoot sightings, which occured just 15-20 miles to the west of the location we were at, along the Gila, once in the 1970s, and once later inn the 80's. This area is at the base of mountains that routinely have red and orange orb UFO activity. A local UFO researcher believes this area is an interdimnensional portal of some sort. On one other fishing trip, a year or so before the incident, I went to fish there, and an old timer, that has a house nearby said , "You better not go down in there." I said why?, and he said, "The snake will get ya!". I said rattlesnakes?...and he said, "NO, THE SNAKE!" I never knew what he meant, but, now I think I do. There have been people and many animals that have gone missing down in this area, and the authorities generally attribute it to it being a high crime area, due to the thick salt cedar seclusion with places for homeless wanted criminals and illegal aliens to hide out. Last time I went to the area, the federal government had come in and bulldozed a few square miles out, right where we were fishing , and changed the course of the river to a controlled canal, half a mile away from where the river used to flow. This seems very odd to me. They spent fortune changing an unincorporated tract of waste land. Why? Take a look at the area on Google Earth. Start at Phoenix International Raceway, and look at the various water areas. The big dirt area to the north of the track is where this happened. Down the canal west to the pond and bridge, about 20 miles is where bigfoot was sighted twice. It is a bizzare area, in the middle of the sonoran dessert. This Gila River used to be a magnificent river. It used to run so large , that they would run river boats up it from the Colorado River to the New Mexico border, before all the dams and cities using up all the water. I have been in Arizona since 1972, and there are so many UFO experiences I have had or seen happen in this state, it will take years to document it into the forums. I can't believe how much of what has happened in Arizona has been utterly suppressed. The Phoenix Lights are the tip of the iceberg! I, probably, should write a book.
