I can imagine not unlike the war of the worlds radio program. there were
instances of individuals panicking , and heading for the high ground. (hills)
we can not continue to have an conflict w/ popular media and their penchant
for sensationalism. this is not to suggest we muzzle freedom of expression.
but as an constant w/out an healthy balance. humankind will be subject
to harmful manipulation.

forward into the future. the key in this segment is multiverse. not ready
for primetime. this premise acknowledges former and present physics
known today. it ain't gonna happen in our life time.

never say never. the shear number of possible habitable planets in the solar
system grows each year year year. the question will be , not to become. but ' is ' an reality.and so, the question of probability given acceptance of the drake equation.gives an quantity to work w/ into our earth/human limitations.
space, time, energy, and budget!

cribbing data from early man. ( he won't mind) has adjusted somewhat and envolved, but fundamentally the song remains the same. signal intelligence .
where one group of organisms say to another group of organisms . " hey
were here...what's for dinner...maybe you!"

the handshake - it's been suggested most recently by an notable SETI radio astronomer . the the communication might be one way do to the enormous distance involved to transmit signals and get an response w/ currant tech
know how. (time-distance)

how will this occur and when is speculative. it raises interesting
questions about alien protocol , (something we still are developing on earth).
once received. do we dumb down our technology or if in the realm of possibility improvise and improve native signals. example: that was definitely an message in a bottle . or, that signal was so stong it influenced our orbit.
what we say and how we do it. says a lot about us.

science can not advance beyond what is not sociologically demonstrated
and proven on earth- our behavior on earth must be exemplary before we
venture off to the stars. or so it matters. think about it.

colonialism, will vicariously project beyond the planet and be an extension of our values. from w/in the construct of ' seeding planets ' = colonialism.

earth beings must not over extend nor leave the planets inhabitants wallowing in the dust of ignorance . universal principles apply here. because, these principles are the only bridge to our space fairings brethren whom also might be cruising for burgers . uniting - unifying .

fortunately the mankind using the scientific method, have much closer goals to
demonstrate sociological and practical communication models. our lack of ability is our strength.

case in point . an moon and mars base to follow , allow much greater flexibility
to defeat physical limitations. we will have humanoids on each end for an two way conversation . both competing w/ earth and vice versa . perfecting the art of communication. again all manner of signal intelligence. ūüėõ
see: cosmic limitation to exoplantary signal intelligence.

always good . I'm in agreement . w/ Hawkings comment. 'we might not be around to receive a message back'

if life is so rare and predatory. its no wonder we communicate at all.
will we ; so benevolent a creature , allow space visitors whom come in peace,
to visit and share this planet?

SETI talks subject Kepler and exo- planets . good stuff. for sure our alien brothers have already scoped out this planet. didn't leave a business card.
not that we have found.

what happens when our robotics show up? I see nothing outwardly communicative
about our luner landers . did they carry a business card of introduction ?
maybe they are antidrone. and, it would freak them out.

unless its an symbiotic relationship how can we coexist ?
