From Roswell to , this red light in the Sussex sky might be a job for Mulder and Scully.<\/p>\n
These pictures show the mysterious red blob that appeared in skies above Hove and have sparked speculation that extraterrestrials are holidaying above the south coast.<\/p>\n
Even more mysteriously the apparition was apparently chased away by helicopters, although officials have denied all knowledge.<\/p>\n
David Flannery, from Sherbourne Close, Rottingdean, was so stunned when he saw the floating illumination he rushed to get his camera to record the event.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cI have never seen anything like it. It must have been huge close up because you could see it very clearly from far away.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was standing in Holmes Avenue and it was hovering in the sky over Kemp Town way.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can say for definite this wasn\u2019t a Chinese lantern. I know what they look like and they move about.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was moving from left to right, then up and down.<\/p>\n
\u201cI thought \u2018I must get the video out of the van\u2019 and I got the whole thing on camera.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou can see two other red dots \u2013 those are the helicopters that flew towards it. They wouldn\u2019t be doing that if it was just a Chinese lantern, would they?<\/p>\n
\u201cThen \u2013 phwump \u2013 just like that it was gone.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Flannery, 54, called Sussex Police and the Ministry of Justice but received no answers.<\/p>\n
This is despite sightings across the city.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cMy friend Keith told me he knew someone who had seen it and I said \u2018Don\u2019t call him a liar, I\u2019ve got it on video\u2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m convinced this is something out of the ordinary but it\u2019s not in the interests of the police or the Government to admit that. They want to keep it under wraps.<\/p>\n
\u201cI wouldn\u2019t be saying all this if I wasn\u2019t sure of what I saw. I wouldn\u2019t want to make a fool of myself.\u201d<\/p>\n
