Mike Bedward has heard it through the grapevine that extraterrestrials are drawn to spectacular sky scenes, such as dazzling sunrises and this double rainbow.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

What\u2019s Going On? It\u2019s more UFMotown than UFO – a fleet of strange craft spotted in the sky over Birmingham by a Marvin Gaye tribute act.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

And Mike Bedward has heard it through the grapevine that extraterrestrials are drawn to spectacular sky scenes, such as dazzling sunrises and this double rainbow.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The Stechford singer didn\u2019t know what he\u2019d inadvertently caught on camera until he studied pictures of the rainbows. It Takes Two, apparently, to attract aliens.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The 44-year-old was intrigued by shrapnel-type flecks against the rainbow, snapped at 6.30pm on Monday.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Zooming in on the images revealed the shining slivers to be cigar-shaped crafts in the blue sky over Alum Rock.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

He also captured a strange vapour trail.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Mike said: \u201cI was trying to take a picture of the rainbow – it was only later that I noticed the shapes.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not saying they are UFOs, although, yes, I\u2019m a believer. I\u2019m saying I can\u2019t explain what I\u2019ve pictured, and neither can other people.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThe crafts are rectangular and glow like strip lights. I\u2019ve seen strange things in the sky before. This is the first time I\u2019ve had a camera with me.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

He added: \u201cI believe UFOs are attracted to beautiful things like rainbows.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

It\u2019s not the first time Alum Rock has been in the grip of a Close Encounter.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

On November 3, 2010, the authorities were contacted following reports of a large black object moving slowly across the sky.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Witness Paul Ryan, who spotted the craft at 7pm, reported: \u201cIt was a very large object which i could tell by the sets of lights in the three corners.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cIn each corner there were many different coloured flashing lights, very bright and changing colours very quickly. The object appeared to be flying very low and very slow. It was also completely silent.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI continued to watch for a couple of minutes, thinking that the object might reappear further along, in a south east direction, but it had vanished into the small low flying cloud and didn\u2019t reappear.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Birmingham UFO Group believe there\u2019s a decidedly earthy, even mundane, explanation for Monday\u2019s strange phenomenon.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

And chairman Dave Hodrien has been quick to point out to our Marvin Gaye impersonator: \u201cIt ain\u2019t nothin\u2019 like the real thing\u201d.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s very rare,\u201d said Dave, \u201cthat we see a picture and think, \u2018wow\u2019. It\u2019s very rare we see something that can\u2019t be explained.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cIn this instance the probable explanation is lens flare, a scattering of light in the lens system.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cIt has nothing to do with the rainbow. It\u2019s caused by sunlight.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n
