THIS is the moment a UFO got a close-up look at Rocket Man Yves Rossy as he whizzed above the English Channel. 
The shiny “cigar-shaped” object was spotted as the Swiss daredevil became the first man to fly from France to Dover with a jet wing. 

Yves, 49, was filmed from the air as he made the record bid – but the footage also revealed a UFO. 

Expert Nick Pope – who investigated UFOs for the Ministry of Defence – said the mystery craft was too defined to be a cloud yet does not resemble a plane. 

Nick believes Friday’s sighting was “significant”. 

He called on the MoD to use its state-of-the-art equipment to investigate the sighting.

And he suggested that Yves’ flying stunt may have attracted a UFO – studying what was another milestone for the human race. 

Nick said: “It could be a significant sighting – it looks like a classic cigar-shaped UFO which is the most common. There seems to be a shiny point which seems quite reflective. 

“It is not a cloud as it has brighter point at the front. This is certainly worthy of further study." 

He added: “The MoD should take a look at this and that would be the key to working out what this is. 

“It is not the first time that unusual aerial activity has attracted a UFO. It was reported that one went close to the Concorde test flight. 

“They could have been observing Yves Rossy to examine what he was doing.” 

But the MoD said it takes no active role in identifying UFO sightings. 

A spokesperson said: “The MoD examines reports solely to establish whether UK airspace may have been compromised by hostile or unauthorised military activity. 

“Unless there is evidence of a potential threat, there is no attempt to identify the nature of each sighting reported.” 

Rossy, an airline captain and ex-warplane pilot, leaped from a plane 8,200ft over Calais with his 8ft wide, homemade wing strapped to his back, the four jets already ignited. 

Then he used his head and body to steer at nearly 125mph across the 22-mile wide stretch of sea in nine minutes. 

As he reached England he was greeted by the soar away Sun, with an enormous airborne banner hung from a plane reading: The Sun welcomes Rocket Man. 

The adventurer, who calls himself Fusionman, touched down close to South Foreland lighthouse after completing a figure of eight manoeuvre during a further four minutes in the air. 

His flight came 99 years after pioneer Louis Bleriot became the first person to cross the Channel by aircraft — then a 37-minute triumph.
