I had a sighting in July 1997 at about 10:00 PM one Tuesday and Thursday night that was pretty amazing. I regretfully don't have a picture or video of it, but I tried to make a drawing of what I saw. Back then I wasn't taking photos and video, but I'm sure this sighting started me doing it. I used to sit outside with my new bought binoculars (15 x 60) and mostly watched airplanes and jets fly by at night. Sometimes I saw some unusual lights ,but nothing like this sighting. I was sitting on my back porch and noticed this real bright light coming from the west heading east somewhere between 9:45 and 10:00 PM. I believe it was the second Tuesday in July 1997.
It was a lot larger light than Venus in the sky and moving a lot slower than a jet. As I brought my binoculars up to see what it was, I couldn't hardly believe what I was seeing.The lights were shaped like a boxcar with a single light on the front making a point. It had five lights on each side in a line and the one on the front. The lights were like they were in a hole, because they didn't light up any of the structure like jets and airplanes do.
I had never seen that many lights on anything that was flying. As it was directly overhead, I noticed it didn't make a sound either. This thing was huge, two or three times bigger than a jet. I tried to get someone from my house to come and see it also, but by the time they came, it was just a light in the east sky.
The coming Thursday, I was outside again, but this time it was different, my son-in-law was with me with his binoculars also. I had told everyone what I had seen and of course they didn't believe me. I had no idea I was about to see it again. About the same time (around 10:00 PM), I saw it first, coming from the west going east exactly like it did Tuesday night and told my son-in-law, here it comes again.
We both started looking through the binoculars and it was the same object as I saw Tuesday night. My son-in -law was awe-struck at what he was seeing as I was two nights before. We watched it until it went out of sight. Never saw it again after that though I've been watching, with camcorder in hand. I've asked my son-in-law several times since then if he thought that was a jet or airplane we saw that night... he would say... "That was No airplane we saw, I'll guarantee you that!"
