Witness Testimonial
I was driving along Interstate 90 heading east and about 2-3 mile from the junction with Route 59. I noticed a large bright white light straight ahead of me. It was much larger and brighter than a star or any airplane light I've ever seen. I would estimate it was about 1/4 to 1/2 the size of the moon and clearly not a point of light. As I watched, I noticed that there were three distinct, also white, lights along the "bottom" of this larger white light. They were visible because they were clearly outlined somehow against the larger light background. As far as speed, these lights appeared to be hovering with no apparent motion.
Then, suddenly, the lights were gone -- disappeared as I was watching.
I looked up again to see an entirely different configuration of bright lights, but still much more distinct than the lights of two airplanes (one to either side of these lights -- O'Hare airport is not too many miles further away to the east). These lights were "sideways" to me (in the sense that they eventually begin to move off toward the south very slowly). The configuratin was three bright white lights in the form of a boomerang or triangle with the "point" to the south. There were also two blinking red lights, one centered "between" the two white lights which were not the point of the triangle, and the other a definite distance back. These lights did not change place in relation to each other, but remained in the same configuration. After seeming to hover in one place, they begin to move slowly toward the south.
By this time I was approaching the merge onto Route 59, which I have to take northward to go to my job in Lake Zurich, IL. As I arrived at the stop light at the intersection of the exit from I-90 and Rt. 59, I looked up above the treeline across Rt. 59 to the east and saw another? single large bright light again -- looking like the light I had first observed, but, due to position, it seemed to be more likely a different source.
Windows of the car were up, and no sounds were heard; nor were there any other sensory perceptions beside the visual observations.
No shape or outline against the night sky was seen -- only the unusual and unusually bright lights and the strangeness of hovering or moving very slowly. "Not like any airplane I've ever seen." AND Impression was that the lights -- especially the boomerang/triangle array were "very large"
[NOTE: The information above is attested to by the witness, Connie Kraft, and was recorded as above and verified as accurate according to the recollections of the witness at the conclusion of an interview the same afternoon as the event conducted by Field Investigator, Frank Coffman (11818)]
