Hugh W. Sloan, Jr.
From The Black Vault Encyclopedia Project
Hugh W. Sloan, Jr. was treasurer of the Committee to Re-elect the President, Richard M. Nixon's 1972 campaign committee. Previously, he was an aide to White House Chief of Staff H.R. Haldeman.
Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein say that "Deep Throat" told them Sloan knew nothing about the Watergate burglary or how the money he disbursed was actually used. He resigned when he found out what the "plumbers" were up to and was a source for Woodward and Bernstein. He was not identified in their Washington Post stories but only in their book "All the President's Men."
He subsequently became a trustee of Princeton University. Since 1985, he has been a director of the Manulife Financial Corporation, a Canadian insurer, and Deputy Chairman of the Woodbridge Foam Company in Troy, Michigan.
In Alan J. Pakula's 1976 film of All the President's Men, he was played by Stephen Collins.
