George Van Tassel (1910-1978)

George Van Tassel (left) discusses his contact with Long John Nobel. The space visitor, whose name was Solganda, spoke English, said Van Tassel, with a perfection that only Ronald Colman could equal. Long John thought Van Tassel himself was trying to speak like Colman.

A contactee, UFO enthusiast and religious type who in 1958 commenced building—but never quite completed— The "Integratron" in the California desert town of Landers. It was supposedly a domed time/energy machine built upon the theories of Nikola Tesla. Created to recharge and rejuvenate people’s cells, at the behest of an advanced entity for a coming space friend “Lord,” it was not without its risks, according to theory. An overcharge could make a person spontaneously combust—or even explode.

Also hosted the annual Interplanetary Spacecraft Convention at Giant Rock, California from 1954 to mid 1970s.
