HOW AND WHY CRYPTONUMEROLOGY WORKS: Toward a rational explanation
Introduction:
CryptoNumerology is a term coined by Gary Val Tenuta to describe a system of divination that others might call English Gematria. Since the system called CryptoNumerology is explained in detail on at http://hometown.aol.com/codeufo/gematria.html, we will not elaborate on it here. For the sake of brevity, may it suffice to say that the system is based on the simple serial code of A=1 through Z=26. Using this code we can find many intriguing and provocative word/number “equations” which may be indicative of some deep underlying interconnections. Here is a prime example:
- NINE IS THE KEY = 144 = THE SECRET KEY
There are many more examples but this one is especially pertinent to the discussion presented in this paper. The importance of the number 9 and the significance of the number 144 will be explained further on as we explore a possible explanation for how and why CryptoNumerology works.
Toward rational explanation:
When the universe began it started from nothing. Essentially the “zero point”. As it evolved it began to take shape. Shape is form. Form is geometry.
- GEOMETRY = 108 = 9
Geometry, by its very nature, incorporates what we call number.
Number is the language we use to describe and/or explain geometric form.
For example, the triangle is the first geometric form. That is to say, one point in space does not create a shape or form. Two points in space can be connected by a line but it only creates a line and does not create a shape or form. Three points in space, can be connected by a line and this does create a shape, the triangle, the first geometric shape or form. Therefore the number 3 describes the first geometric form.
Again, number is the language we use to describe and/or explain geometric form. But what is language? Language is a tool for communicating information.
Another type of language is spoken language. “Spoken” implies “words”. The words are tools for communicating information. In order to preserve our words (reflecting our thoughts and ideas), we use a written language. The written language is a reflection of our spoken language.
Alphabets are organized systems of letters (the symbols we use to form the words). The letters of the alphabet are what we use to write the words, in order to convey and preserve our thoughts and ideas.
We see, then, that numbers and alphabets perform essentially the same function. They are intimately connected. They are both communication devices. This connection is enhanced when we combine them by assigning the numbers to the letters of the alphabet. This is the basis of the ancient art of divination known as gematria. Some ancient language systems, such as Hebrew, virtually made no distinction between the letters of their alphabet and the numbers used for counting and other mathematical functions. In other words the same written symbol was used to portray both a number and a letter. Each letter of the alphabet was also a number and vice versa.
Clearly, then, we now see the intimate connection between number and letter.
If we consider the development of language as part and parcel of the evolution of the divine creation as a whole (i.e., the universe or even “multiverse”, as the case may be) then we understand further the direct interrelationship between numbers and language. Therefore, we have at least a partial explanation for how and why gematria and/or CryptoNumerolgy works. The words are connected to the numbers which are, in turn, representations of the universe (or Multiverse) or the divine creation as a whole.
The reason the number 9 is a key to understanding this connection may relate back to the number "3", the first number to emanate from geometric form. Three 3s gives us the number 9. In mathematics this is called three squared, or 3 times itself. Here is an interesting example of this process showing us what might be called a proof of this concept:
Using the addition function:
- 3+3 = 6
- Then, one more step, 6+3 = 9.
- Or, put another way, 3+3+3 = 9.
Now, to go even deeper, we can apply the multiplication function to the numbers we have just produced, that is 3, 6 and 9. (This might be thought of as the “universal triangle”. UNIVERSAL TRIANGLE = 207 = 9). (Also interesting is this: THE VIBRATIONAL FREQUENCY OF NINE = 333, [3+3+3=9])
Now, using multiplication:
- 3x6x9 = 162 = 9
Now, using our alphabet, we convert the numerical symbols (i.e., 162) into words and calculate the alphanumeric value of the words: ONE SIX TWO = 144 Why is this significant? Because of the following “encrypted” clues:
- NINE IS THE KEY = 144 = THE SECRET KEY
- THE ALPHANUMBER = 144
The number 144 has been associated with the concept of light by many esoteric researchers and even turned out to be the case in the more "scientific" work of Bruce Cathie (see his book, The Harmonic Conquest Of Space, for example). This fits nicely with our present discussion as we find that the alphanumeric value of the word THREE is 56, the same as the alphanumeric value of the word LIGHT.
- THREE = 56 = LIGHT
Keeping this in mind, and going back to our discussion about 3 squared and the importance of the number 9, we find yet another "encrypted" clue:
- NINE IS LIGHT = 126
- ONE TWO SIX = 144 (again, the light number)
Are these examples merely meaningless coincidence? Or are they more than that? Are they, perhaps, what we might call alphanumeric synchronicities? Synchronicity - as coined and described by the renown Swiss psychologist, Carl Jung - is the ultimate coincidence. Synchronicity, according to Jung, is “meaningful coincidence”. The concept implies an interconnection between the inner world of human consciousness and the outer world of the greater universe. This brings us to another Jungian concept, that of archetype.
An archetype might be described as a fundamental form existing in the invisible world of the collective unconscious (another Jungian term). Or perhaps an even better description would be to say an archetype is a cosmic blueprint underlying the form. In terms of our present discussion, we might say the set of numbers identified as 3-6-9 are symbolic representations of the archetype (or blueprint) of the essence of our universe, i.e., of Creation at the fundamental level.
So how is it that the English alphabet (in its currently evolved form) seems to work so well in terms of producing alphanumeric synchronicities among case-related words and phrases? The answer may be due to the fact that the numerical value of 9 is embedded within the very structure of the alphabet. Tenuta found this to be true when he basically folded our 26-letter alphabet in half (by the way, HALF=27=9) between the two middle letters, M and N. This resulted in 13 pairs of letters (and by the way, THIRTEEN=99=18=9). A good way to understand this is to imagine the letters of the alphabet written along a strand of ribbon, for example. Then simply fold the ribbon in half, between the M and the N, and bring the two ends together. Now you see A pairs up with Z. The letter B pairs up with Y, and so on. Here are the 13 combinations (with their combined alphanumeric values):
AZ = 27, BY= 27, CX= 27, DW= 27, EV= 27, FU= 27, GT= 27, HS= 27 IR= 27, JQ= 27, KP= 27, LO= 27, MN= 27
The alphanumeric sum of each pair of letters is 27. This number reduces to the single digit of 9 by what is called "cross adding"; in other words, adding the two digits together: 2+7=9. This inclusion of the number 27 (and therefore, the root 9) within the structure of the alphabet may be an “artifact”, if you will, of the connection between our alphabet and the archetypal realm of what Jung called the Collective Unconscious or what Tenuta prefers to think of as the Universal Consciousness, or what might even be thought of as the great Cosmic Sea of All That Is.
- THE BEGINNING AND THE END = 189 = 18 = 9
- ALL THAT IS AND IS NOT = 198 = 18 = 9
- 189 + 198 = 387 = 18 = 9
- THREE EIGHT SEVEN = 170
You'll notice 170 does not reduce to 9. However, the number 170 does have a significant place in the system because the words THREE, SEVEN, and EIGHT happen to be the third set of "AlphaNumbers" in what Tenuta calls the AlphaNumber Table (a full explanation and analysis of this table can be seen at http://hometown.aol.com/codeufo/alphatable.html). Essentially, the AlphaNumber Table is the numbers 0 through 9 converted into words which are categorized into sets. Each set is identified by the number of letters in each of the words. For example, the words ONE, TWO, and SIX each consist of three letters and therefore comprise a set identified as the "3-Letter Set".

- ZERO = 64 (1).....................Stand Alone
- ONE = 34 (7).......3-letter set
- TWO = 58 (4).......3-letter set
- THREE = 56 (2)...............5-letter set

Returning to the number 9 and the alphabet connection, notice the number 27 (the sum of the letter pairs) again. As mentioned earlier, 27 is the alphanumeric value of the word HALF, which relates directly to the process of folding the alphabet in half in order to reveal this embedded number. It may be considered that the alphabet, in its current form, is a tool for decoding archetypal information embedded deep within the words and phrases produced by the letters of the alphabet. If so, this implies the concept of a “code”. Is it then just coincidence that the alphanumeric value of the word CODE is also 27?
- CODE = 27
Going all the way back to the opening statement in this paper we wrote: When the universe began it started from nothing. Essentially the zero point. This, too, reveals more alphanumeric synchronicity:
- THE ZERO POINT = 171 = POSITIVE LIGHT
Notice 171=9 and the phrase POSITIVE LIGHT brings us back again to this:
- NINE IS THE KEY = 144, a number esoterically associated with the concept of light.
And this:
- LIGHT OF CREATION = 162 (Or the reverse, CREATION OF LIGHT)
And, as noted earlier, ONE SIX TWO = 144 (the “light” number).
Now if the zero point was the point of the creation of light, we see this reflected in the alphanumerics:
- THE ZERO POINT (171) + CREATION OF LIGHT (162) = 333
Notice 171 and 162 and 144 each reduce to the single digit value of 9. And 333, you'll recall, is the alphanumeric value of the phrase, THE VIBRATIONAL FREQUENCY OF NINE.
- THE VIBRATIONAL FREQUENCY OF NINE = 333
Over the past several years of research Tenuta has produced much more evidence of this kind to support the idea that our English alphabet, in its current form, may be an encrypted tool which can be used to reveal information deeply embedded, or “encoded” within certain case-related words and phrases. The mechanism enabling this process to work may be the number 9 or, more accurately, the vibrational frequency of that number (see previous paragraph) and its intimate connection with the archetypal realm of the blueprint of the universe or, again perhaps more accurately, the multiverse:
- MULTIVERSE = 144 = 9
- BLUEPRINT OF THE MULTIVERSE = 315 = 9
- THE MULTIVERSE IS LIGHT = 261 = 9
- TWO SIX ONE = 144 = 9
As long as we’re this far outside the box of conventional thinking, let’s take it a step further by suggesting all of this might be somehow generated from a computer.
- THE COMPUTER = 144 = 9
- THE COMPUTER CODE = 171 = 9
- ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY ONE = 252 = ONE HUNDRED FORTY FOUR (252 = 9)
- THE DIVINE COMPUTER = 207 = THE CODE KEY OF CREATION (207 = 9)
- THE DIVINE COMPUTER CODE = 234 = 9
- THE DIVINE COMPUTER CODE OF THE MULTIVERSE = 432 = 9
If what we've presented in this paper is, indeed, a reflection of something beyond mere meaningless coincidence then it almost falls into the category of miracle. Certainly the whole idea resides at the very edge of credibility in terms of conventional thinking. On the other hand, as Shakespeare once penned, “There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy”.
