I closed my Facebook account about 3 months ago. Not because of the Illuminati, but because there is pretty much zero reward for me. I connected with a bunch of people that I wasn't friends with anymore for a reason. And anyone I do care about I can just pick up the phone and call.
I do have a twitter account though. Its useful to follow news and tailor what information you receive.
