Virus

Just been thinking.
What opinions do you have about Virus?
Like, what role do you think they actually have?

Personally...I think they might be the essence of life itself.
Since scientists can´t yet decide whether it´s organic or not...
And it has the ability to replicate itself...
Sounds more like a machine...

Also watched a documentary about it last week, they said that Virus might well have been the key to from DNA itself.

Get rid of lessers who are useless to nature's plans.

The strong survive, and viruses are one of nature's way of weeding out the weak.

The goal of a gene (DNA) is to copy itself and take over more territory. Chromosomes collect genes they think are useful for their purpose. For example the X chromosome may steal genes from the Y chromosome. A virus is a simple DNA delivery machine. Some gene or chromosome may have created virus to spread itself around. Its odd though, at higher levels sex plays out as the search for unique gene pools to mate with but if you do that its counter to the basic goal of a gene which is to copy itself ("unique" being the opposite of "same"). So I guess its a balancing act.

Well, I would say that virus was our modifiers. I don't think a virus created us from scratch.

If virus are more machines than organic creatures, it´s quite safe to say that...aliens may have put them here...

I guess you´re right about the virus being modifiers, makes sense in many ways.

All I know is when you catch a virus, it doesn't go away from you, it can recur and recur again and again, or just stay forever. I don't think there are much more uses for a virus, beyond life threatening potential, which makes them pretty much useless to me.

i think viruses are natural to the earth and we are not thus the battle. Even animals for all u people splitting hairs. This would go under the panspermia theory.

Well, they keep whatever it is they're infecting from getting too over populated.

But your body USUALLY kills off the virus that would currently reside in your body, so it DOES go away from you. If you're exposed enough to it, you could even develop a mild resistance to it so it's unable to re-infect you.
