There's Rath with his AC/DC.

What's your point, buddy? AC/DC didn't kick off the 80's. They brought nothing new to the table, just doing the same stuff. Great stuff, obviously, but they didn't add anything amazing to the decade.

AC/DC are an Australian rock band formed in Sydney in 1973.

:?: 1973 that b4 the 1980's right !!!

Lead singer and co-songwriter Bon Scott died on 19 February 1980, after a night of heavy alcohol consumption. The group briefly considered disbanding, but soon ex-Geordie singer Brian Johnson was selected to replace Scott. Later that year, the band released their best-selling album, Back in Black.

As of 2008, AC/DC has sold more than 220 million albums worldwide,
including 71 million albums in the United States.

Black Ice sold approximately 1,762,000 units in its first week. The album went to number one in 29 different countries, including Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States. In its first week, it sold 784,000 copies in the US alone, receiving a three-times- platinum certification in Australia, and selling upwards of 110,000 in the UK. As of May 2009 the album has sold 7.2 million copies worldwide and it is the second-best selling album of 2008. Rolling Stone magazine also ranked Black Ice number 41 on their list "Top 50 Best Albums of 2008". Black Ice was also named the third best album of 2008 by Metal Hammer.

AC/DC were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March 2003.
AC/DC were a formative influence on New Wave of Heavy Metal bands who emerged in the late 1970s, & 1980s' such as Saxon and Iron Maiden & Metallic.
& During the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony the band performed "Highway to Hell" and "You Shook Me All Night Long", with guest vocals provided by host Steven Tyler of Aerosmith. He described the band's power chords as "the thunder from down under that gives you the second-most-powerful surge that can flow through your body." During the acceptance speech, Brian Johnson quoted their 1977 song "Let There Be Rock".

Rath, that's what he was saying. They didn't start in the 80's. GnR did start in the 80's.

I know VH didn't start in the 80's but that's beside my point right now.

Name one album by AC/DC, excluding back in black in 1980, which is even nearly on par with their older stuff with Bon Scott....Johnson and the boys have produced nothing even approaching the greatness of Powerage.

Every Metallica album, save AJFA, makes my head hurt. All the new ones are terrible, there's an occasional good song. I did like st. anger (yeah, I know, I'm alone on this one) more than anything else they've done since the black album.

It's partially a symptom of location, far too overplayed here.

Sad thing is every radio station plays, at least twice a day, nothing else matters :or: unforgiven. I'm like =/ really.

Nope, they ended it. They ended it with a bang that was fresh and original, not rehash tunes that had been played since the early 70's.

Even Load? St. Anger isn't too bad once you get over the drums, lack of solos, tuning and somewhat repetitive nature of the songs.

DM is pretty good. Much better than Megadeth’s new one.

The song’s aren’t that bad but the lyrics are terrible.

Supercharged, strapped in and screaming
Fire spiting from the pipes
A burnout by the flame throwing fury
8,000 horses ignite
Full throttle, hit the ground running
With a tank full of nitro
And its 1,320' to go to the finish line

Us all? Shut up, tool. One, I'm the only one who is putting in actual care to defend it, and two I NEVER hailed it as the best thing since sliced bread, unlike you with your Back In Black tripe.

Paradise City, Welcome to the Jungle, Mr. Brownstone, and Sweet Child of Mine. Rocket Queen, Night Train, and It's So Easy get honorable mentions, but weren't chart toppers.

Idiot.

They play ONE thing. They're the best at what they play, but it's nothing special. They play tunes inspired by Chuck Berry and Bill Haley.

A quarter of their stuff IS Chuck Berry covers, so quit trying to brand GN'R as a cover band too.

Slash Worries About Potential Guns N' Roses Hall Of Fame Induction
January 25th, 2008 3:10pm EST Post a comment Read 4 comments Add to My News

SlashRocker Slash fears Guns N' Roses' potential induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2010 could be a debacle if the bandmates don't put aside their differences by then.

The November Rain hitmakers will become eligible for induction in 2010 - but guitarist former Slash fears a Van Halen-type mess.

The rocker and former Guns 'N Roses stars Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum joined forces with Michael Anthony and Sammy Hagar to pay tribute to Van Halen last year when the band themselves failed to show.

Eddie Van Halen was in rehab and frontman David Lee Roth refused to perform with his successor, Hagar.

And now Slash fears his old band's big night in two years time could become be another classic anti-climax.

He tells Billboard.com, "I never even thought about it until we had to do that. Somebody asked me, 'Do you think you guys will be able to show up for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (induction ceremony) in five years?'

"I was like, 'Oh, I guess we're eligible.' It never dawned on me before then. If this comes up, I'd hope we'd be mature enough to get up and do that, but I have no idea."

Slash, McKagan and Sorum currently perform together in Velvet Revolver while Guns 'N Roses frontman Axl Rose is famously estranged from his former bandmates.
