WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The more often Americans go to church, the more likely they are to support the torture of suspected terrorists, according to a new survey.

More than half of people who attend services at least once a week -- 54 percent -- said the use of torture against suspected terrorists is "often" or "sometimes" justified. Only 42 percent of people who "seldom or never" go to services agreed, according to the analysis released Wednesday by the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life.

White evangelical Protestants were the religious group most likely to say torture is often or sometimes justified -- more than six in 10 supported it. People unaffiliated with any religious organization were least likely to back it. Only four in 10 of them did.

The analysis is based on a Pew Research Center survey of 742 American adults conducted April 14-21. It did not include analysis of groups other than white evangelicals, white non-Hispanic Catholics, white mainline Protestants and the religiously unaffiliated, because the sample size was too small. survey

Who would Jesus torture? A variety of policy positions are generally associated with evangelical Christians. Abortion, for example, is a moral wrong. So is gay marriage. Pre-marital sex, pornography, and adultery are also all morally offensive, inconsistent with their spiritual values.

Torture, however, is fine.

Matt. 7:14 Sadly a bunch of christians aren't so christ-like, not that i'm any better, I'm no saint. as to the actual idea of torture....I'd have to say it's probably not a great plan, you know though, thats not really a simple question, think it through outs and ins, you got some guy who has the information on whatever you need to make your family, country people etc. safe. is it worth it. idk. to stick to the safe side I'd have to go with no, but I can't speak for all those other folks. 1 Cor. 10:23 yah, they may be able to say go ahead, but really not a steady platform. Plus, one other thought you might take in to mind, is alot of times people are all show and no go, put in the place of the guy making the actual order, I doubt that alot of those people would say the same thing as they did in a survey, not making it ok for them to say just making the idea that not all of them or even most of them just guessing would go through with it. Eh, who's perfect. Not me. Thats all I know all I can attempt to work on, the only one i can critisize.

Gotta remember the "writer" of Revelations, wasn't Jesus....he was some guy who got high on hash....and had a huge nightmare.

I truly would like to answer that question with a resounding ass er yes but I don't bray that well. The actions of some of these "stock market dudes and bank manager dudes" has napped back at them but good.

There's a difference between a good old fashioned ass whipping and torture. If you don't know the difference, I could show you sometime, you sanctimonious jackass.
