How is that possible given that it says Jesus' father was Joseph?

Joseph is not the biological father of Jesus.

This should be clear and simple as the Word states that Mary was with child yet knew no man.
The function of Joseph was to not put Mary out...for which an Angel came to give Joseph notice.

As I stated earlier ..it is difficult for most of us to go beyond the flesh.

Joseph functioned at the father of Jesus in raising Him..as do many fathers or males today..in homes with ready made families.

The Word in the KJV states...in Luke 3:23

23 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,

and here is the beginning of the lineage of Jesus as a man....in His manhood ..going back to Adam...the first man.

Notice it states ( as was supposed) in parenthesis.

Yet ...it is known that Mary knew no man when she was with child..with Jesus.

The Word takes great pains to make this clear.

Hold that thought for a moment.

Refer to your own words. Joseph is not the biological father of Jesus. The lineage of Joseph may trace back to Adam but that is entirely irrelevant given that Jesus is not the biological son of Joseph.

Ok...now at1with0...hold that thought..above...

Remember what I said..about being in the physical.in the flesh of men.

Remember also what I said about Luke Chapter 2...the lineage is of the manhood of Jesus...going back to Adam...the Manhood.

and who is Jesus...The Word which took on flesh.

What does the Word mean???

In Matthew it is recorded as a line of a King...from David...as a King..Kingship. In Matthew it is manhood...from Adam..or going back to Adam. Not from Joseph..but as a man.

What is Jesus...as The Word...and the word took on flesh and we beheld His Glory.??? From John 1.
