Just a word of warning, that winter in those mountains or like ours in the Serria Nevada, storms come in and you can get into real trouble fast, if you are not prepared for it. March is still the dead of winter in the Rocky Mountains, and heavy snows can come well into June. Even people use to the snow back east, can get caught off guard real easy in those mountains.
I'm sure you know about iron pyrite when you see flakes in the water. This is not an April Fools joke by the way, many people think they found gold when its only pyrite.
