This will not be visible for the eastern seaboard as is occurs in the west in late afternoon. It begins right about the time we are invited to a graduation BBQ sunday afternoon, what a surprize they are going to have. Should be fun.

And it was spectacular.

It got so dark!

I imagine ancient civilizations who had a geocentric worldview would have thought the world was coming to an end.

We were at a back yard party in Los Angeles, facing the Sunset. If I didn't know it was happening, and people were not even aware of it, I honestly would not have noticed it. I knew the peak time was 6:38 pm, and we looked twards the sun blocking it, and all we could see was a big haze, however the backyard was lite up just like normal, maybe a bit less bright. I wish I would have brought one of my welding helmets to the party to actually see it with. I expected the sun to be blocking a really noticable amount of light.

I'm about 4 to 5 hundred miles north of you and it was really significant. I actually had a welder's helmet and shot some pictures through it.

My pathetic camera did not do it justice.
