No one can decide who is or is not worthy. No one is worthy. Another person can tell when you are or are not in the right frame of mind when partaking in the Lord's Supper. If you are not, then you are only harming yourself by partaking. Taking the bread and wine does not get you closer to the Lord. It is your acknowledgment of what He has done. If you acknowledge it without full awareness of what it entails, you are eating and drinking damnation unto yourself. It is the priest's duty to stop you from harming yourself.

I think the priest refers to a State of Grace, and your quote halfabo talked about unworthy. At1 is is not F'ed up that humans are deciding anything, these are ordained Priests in the Catholic Religion. Only in rare occurances, like a Battlefield Confession with imminate death, can a layperson hear a Confession. Priest are ordained to hear confessions, and give Pennance. This goes to the root of my reasons for being against gay marriage, and it being a Holy Sacrament, and that is not discrimination. It all deals with this same State of Grace for the Communion, and that alone making a gay marriage in the Catholic Church an abomination to God.

It may be F'd up to someone who does not believe the bible, but, taking that into consideration, pretty much anything bible-believers practice in accordance with our beliefs, would certainly be considered F'd up to the outside world.

The Catholic Priest was following Scripture, so, if there is something at fault here, it would have to be the Scripture itself.

Part of being a faithful believer is taking the bible at its Word, and being obedient to it. Bible-believing Christians are under a state of Grace and are to follow the commands found within the New Testament and the Creation Ordinances (i.e. Ten Commandments). I only say that because I don't intend to open up the old can of worms dealing with the Hebrew-specific Mosaic Laws, i.e. "Ok if you insist on following the bible, then why aren't you sacrificing animals and making burnt offerings from your flock...."

You know in your heart if you are in a State of Grace or not. Regardless of what you think the role of the priest is, she herself knows.

It's just sad that people think they need to swallow wafers in order to have communion and that communion be regulated by humans who don't know the full story.

I guess that is why we have so many Christian religions, that have different theology. The two primary difference is the rules and theology behind Baptism and Communion. Both complete subjects themselves and why they are different between them and examples of how inturpetations of the same thing can differ.

Were I think you are wrong is equating an Ordained Priest is on the same plane as just any human. Of Course he is a human, but he is also Ordained and can hear Confessions, have a Mass, administer the other Sacraments. Other religions Ordain their Ministers, and another subject of difference to other Christian religions are Confession and what is not considered a Sacrament. In most only Baptism and Communion are Sacraments of the Church, but the Catholic also have made Marriage, Baptism, Communion, Confirmation, Ordination, Last rites. Its a big subject to discuss. All the differences and why?

Maybe this woman should consult different humans and get her communion with God through humans with different codes.

In other words, go find a church that pretends these things in scripture do not exist? Would that be nice for her. That is why you see several churches spring up, that are rogue churches from the Mother church, in which they profess to be that given religion, but with modified rules. Just make up a church to comform with your sins, is the easy way to not accept scipture telling you what is a sin all ready. This is a gay church, we ignore all the scripture that tells us what we should not be doing. We just pretend it doesn't say that and ignore that part.

But, but, but, you say! its perfectly normal now that almost everyone cheats on their spouses, so adultry is no longer valid. The church and the Father, has no business in that department anymore. It has become commonplace, so now we just make a church that goes along with our adulterous lifestyle. Issues like birth control are a perfect example. The world expects the Catholic Church to comform to a modern world of free sex, we can do it with protection, and besides everyone does it. You can buy a pill now, so why not? The Pope is evil if he doesn't let us, and just brand religious beliefs as a myth, homophobic, and bigoted. What the heck if birth control is OK, abortion must be. Either you follow your religion or you do not, you can not pick and choose what is sin, its pretty well spelled out.
