More than 50 members of the European parliament have signed an open letter to the US government raising concerns about the treatment of Bradley Manning, the US soldier in military detention for allegedly leaking classified US documents to the whistleblowing site WikiLeaks.

You would look like crap too if you knew you were about to spend the rest of your life in Federal Prison and you were only 20 something years old. To be honest it does not even look like the same person, comparing the features of the face. Secondly what in this picture would tell me he has been tortured, and not just in a state of total depression, not eating, or caring about himself.

He has no hope of getting out of this, after everyones hero Assange, threw him under the bus. So instead of blaming the US government for torturing him, blame Assange who conspired with him, and was part of getting him into this mess. A young impressionable Private, stupidly doing an act of Espionage, with a 40 something con man, rapist, and manipulator, a man with no scrupples, nor ethics, talking him into this. I make no excuses for Manning, he committed a serous crime against his country, made even worse doing it while serving in the armed forces. Believe it, when you know Mannings future is about as Bleek as it can be right now, he will end up in a very hard place in Levenworth. He can't even kill himself, they are watching him 24/7 for that. He looks horrible if that is him because he is just plain screwed for life, and nothing will get him out of it. He will be a very old man when he ever gets out and the time served he may as well be dead. I knew MP's in the Marines who escorted, hadcuffed and armed with 45's, military fugitives to Levenworth. It is a place nobody would ever want to go, and that was in the late 60's. Manning will never see a normal life ever again--no wonder he looks like death warmed over.

Thats the mess this ***hole named Assange has gotten him into stressing the Manning should be responsible for his actions, but I also think Assange should be right next to him in that cell.

I for one, have become an skeptic in all things political. I seem to remember
young Bradley poking around the MUFON web site shortly before it was shut down. (they are back up !) no I don't have proof. yes it may have been coincidence.

some say the leaks were deliberate. why such an low level employee of the military allowed access? ( as if referencing them drive or influence diplomacy.)

no , I don't see low level diplomatic cables containing gossip as having been given top secret classification.

furthermore , there may be an third/ fourth contact not yet caught...
whom won't be . because it is BMs handler(s)

there are no innocents in any of this

we only have to look at failed DOJ ops. and dubious tactics of 'entrapment'
to realize their are huge inconsistencies in the Bradley case.
the guy was out trolling for co conspirators .( I believe) on mufon site.

if the gods so willing track via FEEDAGE or backup server. we can possiblly shed
light on impressionable mannings state of mind.

guilt or innocence may not be as important as methodology, to convict,
according to preconceived ' notions ' of criminality . so, in effect, the govt could be scre- their own case. in search of ' shadows and hints of so called terrorism ' ( to justify their own existence)

does the prosecutor have an conflict of interest. policy writing for
dept of justice? go figure. is this the same dept that advised bush via memos,
that torture was cool? water boarding was not torture? and objectionable
material is known when seen? appeal you say? who among you will fair
better. seeking redress from the military code of cj? ( the policy writers)

in civilian courts it's not uncommon to work as an informant for prosecutorial
privilege. ( before charges?) I think that's tampering with an material witness.
conduct unbecoming in military jargon. and, maybe seditious behavior.

can anyone clarify if the military services actually has an whistle blower
status within military courts... than , the shell game of classifying him as an American citizen terr ist , in an American court , becomes a possiblity.

a whistle blower status " under arms " not concerning civilian contracts.

I hope security clearances have an higher degree of scrutiny. seems like
years ago. anyone attempting boot at an mp training were assigned
security status based on preliminary background vetting with little ,
or no 'proven field experience' I hope times have changed.
I think we can do better.

I'm surprised at the volume and exchange of mail allowed troops located
in battle zones. I believe in maximum morale, but not at the expense of
creating an security nightmare. (type of CDs allowed) keychains etc...
