Sandra, don't you have an real italian restraunts in your area? Nothing better than Rosmary bread, or other good italian breads, and dipping it in olive oil and balsamic vinager.

Greeney, yes I was just at Al Ventos in Minneapolis here not that long ago, had
great bread with Olive Oil before other entres, and I'm big on eating breads, but
not all the time with Olive Oil. Unless it is a bruschetta. And I do really like hummus also.

But I had to make fun of Aquarian, hes like in <3 love with Olive Oil.

Had my favorite last night in a really good italian place we goto. One of those real places to go not a chain place. I had Angel Hair pasta with olive oil and fresh garlic, lots of it too. Cooking garlic right is an art, something Mrs. G2 really knows how to do with many italian dishes. She is Italian and her grandmother was from Sicily. Mrs G2 makes several Italian things that are never found in italian restraunts too. The garlic has to be done just right or its either raw tasting and bitter, or if its its just a little too done, it tastes burned. This is one of those dishes that its really hard to find eating out that comes close to homemade, but this was pretty darn good last night. I told Mrs. G2 that even her Dad would have approved of mine last night. She had Pasta Putenesta, which penne pasta in a red sause, with mushrooms, capers, olives, garlic and anchovies. We also got Canoli's to take home we were so full. Do they make them at your place in Minnesota?

I love Hummus too, can't stop eating it when we have some.

I have a funny story about Hummus. Probably 1975 my sister in laws boyfriend was from the Iran and identified himself as Persian, so they wanted to double date with Mrs. G2 and me out to a Persian Restraunt in Pasadena, on the Rose Parade route. Never been their before and Harry told the waiter secretly, not to forget a custom they did in those days. I had never eaten Hummus before and also never eaten Pita bread before. What I didn't know was that the custom (not done in todays restraunts) was for the waiter to tear off a piece of bread, take a dip into the hummus, and before I knew it,he shoves it into my mouth with his fingers. One of those welcome to our culture kind of things. I was so flabbergasted an surprized, my jaw probably dropped to my knees and the bread was in my mouth, which Harry and my sister in law were dying laughing. It was all really fun, and was long before all this terrorism stuff. AS it turned out later Harry was a complete nutjob, abusive to my sister in law, and for other reasons ended up in prison. Probably deported after that.

I've never had Cannolis before, nope. But I did a search on them, and they are a sort of wrapped dessert? Well the pictures they look like a great dessert, am I wrong?

Yeah I wish I made it home made more often, but many times I'm buying it.
And its healthier than alot of other snacks.

Thats hilarious, and I had no idea that that is some type of custom. Is it just an old custom within the restraunt world, or did people just do this alot when it was someones first time having hummus? I dunno, but I could just picture you sitting there not having any clue this guy is about to shove food in your mouth with MRSG2 sitting next to you- If she didn't have any idea he was going to do that I imagine she was close to just as surprised.
