Why give a last meal request? I guess the answer is that even an execution is not an excuse for the rest of us to be inhuman.

Shame those on Death Row weren't so human when they did what they did to get there in the first place...no sympathy here.

Shame also that there is no Death Penalty In Australia anymore.

sterilized needles at executions make me think of when it's late at night..and I am driving..and there are NO ther cars on the road..and I am SITTING at a red light..like a trained rat. (I guess it might have a camera to catch me running it could be a defense..but I also stop at the stop signs)

Well, I'll tell you, Joker...if you have to ask these questions the gulf between you and the inhumanity of those you condemn is not as wide as you might hope it would be.

When I asked these questions originally I was being facetious and sarcastic. Now this thread is a ligit thread in the sense that there is the discussion of the death penalty which I think should be reintroduced in Australia.

When you had the death penalty what was the method? When and why was the DP eliminated?

The last time it was used in Australia was on Feb 3,1967 on Ronald Ryan he supposedly shot prison officer during an escape form Prison but there were no forensic or ballistic evidence to prove conclusively that he did it. He supposedly confessed but it was claimed the confession was coerced. The method used was Hanging.

There are plenty of times or cases which raise outcrys form the public about the re-introduction of the Death Penalty but the bleeding heart do-gooders and liberals oppose it. Meanwhile the criminals seem to have more rights in the judicial system than the innocent and the law is fast becoming a joke.

It infuriates me that Australia is fast becoming just as bad if not worse than the rest of the world. I think that is why I am becoming such a Grumpy Old Man. To be honest I think we need a few Tea Parties of our own.
