Sex party woos swinging voters

The Australian Sex Party is launching its Federal Election campaign in Melbourne today.

The party has accused the major parties, including the Greens, of ignoring personal freedoms and moral issues, and turning Australia into a 'nanny' nation.

Victorian Senate candidate and party President Fiona Patten says if elected, she will call an immediate Royal Commission into child sex abuse in religious institutions.

She believes the party's policies will attract widespread support and says she is not concerned the party might lack credibility with voters.

"The name is controversial, I don't think our policies are," she said.

"I think Australians do want a debate on euthanasia, they do want a debate on censorship, they do want a debate on child sex abuse in the church, and the major parties, the Greens, Labor and Liberal, are very caught up in their major issues."
