ok..I've been told I can go off topic a bit, although its still on topic
Kids learning shows...what are they learning?
saw this program once on CBC..early saturday morning around 7:30 am
Have to dig back to some files to see what it was called, but I know it was on,cause I phoned a teacher friend and we talked about it.
Hour long childrens learning program, that was split into segments of 3,
I believe.
First segment was on "reproduction of animals"..First 4 minutes of that segment was on the repoduction of this certain "group" of monkeys
being STUDIED
(I'm not quite sure they weren't on some man made drug?)
Anyhow, this educational show has some voice telling, whichever children are watching ,why these animals "mate".cause its for reproduction, yet they can only get pregnant every so many times in their reproductive cycle
All good to know about animals..no complaint there...but..it went on to say these monkeys were of a special breed because they had a tremnodous amount of hostility towards each other, and copolated often as way to release that hostility, basically they were yelling and screaming at each other for awhile, then "copulating like crazy", and it didn't match at all to what they said about the monkeys reproductive cycle.
they were showing alot of "intense sex scenes" of these "monkeys", which for some reason I felt really didn't act that way, but then again sounds alot like humans

, so i won't judge the monkeys, or the A****** that drugged them (if they did at all)
It was basically very hard core "monkey porn" being spoon fed to young children under the guise of reproduction of animals..really blew me away to see it, so much so ,I called my teacher friend, woke him up,and said if your kids are up watching TV, you might want to go check out what there watching, lest it gives them any ideas..they are not ready to handle...
Maybe I'm way to old school, like sandra says....but it made me sad to see it on a childrens program.
That was an example of something not so FAVORITE in tv shows I have seen in the "learning " catagory. maybe I'm more old school than I think I am

kidding..I know I am, but I'm just starting to realize that more and more.
comments always appreciated, on another thread started on this type of learning...through television, or comment however you like where ever you like, like the OP said it was ok to do so.(sighs)
